  1. Unlimited class "The Spectre", Open class "Nightshade" (from the old Charlton comics), street level "Black Canary" (sixties version , pre "canary cry").
  2. "The Strangers" I think they were called. I really liked that comic , and I HATE Marvel for abandoning the Malibu characters after they absorbed the company.
  3. One of my favorite "teenaged bricks" (or maybe she was pre-teen ) is "Princess" from "Zoom : Academy For Superheros".
  4. I didn't read the whole post but what about "The fan" a boy (or girl) who is obsessed with supers in general (or just one in particular). He/she tries to find out everything about one (or more) of the city's heroes, turns up at events and pesters them, maybe has a blog or a newsletter about the characters that they are obsessed with and generally gets in the way at inconvenient moments.
  5. At last someone that "Saint Barbara" can look down on ! Standing a statuesque five foot two inches she smiles benignly at the little girl (who probably outweighs her) described above.
  6. Obviously we see this matter differently. It is is a little bit surprising to me that you seem to be so vehemently anti Tesla. You may have perfectly good reasons for this, but I haven't seen anything to prove any of your assertions so I shall continue to give Tesla the credit that I think is his due. Merry christmas !
  7. That article doesn't say that Tesla stole Ferrari's motor. Marconi stole some of Tesla's ideas for radio too and it has only been recently that Tesla has received any credit for his contributions. Simultaneous inventions do occur without theft as well, an example would be Edison and Swann inventing the incandescent electric light at about the same time on opposite sides of the Atlantic. I think that you are being too harsh in your judgement of Tesla.
  8. Okay i'll bight. What is your beef with Nicola Tesla ?
  9. Thank you for the explanation. Ever since watching Michael Moore's "Sicko" I have thought that the U S for profit health care industry was spectacularly unpleasant. Even assuming that Moore was indulging in hyperbole it sounded appalling. Trump says that he will replace Obamacare with "something better", the question is, will the healthcare lobbyists LET him ? (assuming that he was being serious when he said that of course).
  10. Please excuse my ignorance (not being an American and all that) but WHY are your employer-provided options for health insurance so expensive ? Wouldn't the firm you work for want to keep its employees healthy, at an affordable price ?
  11. "Miss Fury" is available in a hardcover collection published by "The Library Of American Comics", the same people who do "Terry And The Pirates".
  12. There is at least one sequel to "Ack-ack Macaque" called "Hive Monkey". The author is Gareth Powell.
  13. Pity. If you DO get more money to spend on Pulp reference in the future I suggest that "The Great Pulp Heroes" by Don Hutchison and "Master Of The Pulps : The Collected Essays of Nick Carr" edited by Ron Hanna may be worth going after.
  14. Don't worry, be happy it is St Barbara's Day !
  15. Do you have "Chronology Of Shadow" by Rick Lai, or his other pulp works such as "Chronology of Bronze", "Daring Adventurers" and "Criminal Masterminds" ?
  16. I haven't read it yet, but I received as a christmas present a copy of "The WPA Guide To New York City", a 1992 reprint of a 1939 volume , over 600 pages of detail about the city. Oh yes, and happy St Barbara's day everybody !
  17. I don't know if it has been shown where you are but "Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries" is worth a look (set in Melbourne, Australia in the 1920's) is another good Pulp crime detective show.
  18. Oh yes and"Happy Saint Barbara's day !
  19. The cuter it looks, the more dangerous it is likely to be.
  20. And things that CAN'T explode will also !
  21. Eating Polar Bear can be tricky. Don't eat the liver ! (It has been suggested that eating polar bear liver is what killed members of the Nobile expedition after their airship crashed )
  22. If by "pet tribble" you mean Trump's hairpiece. Are tou SURE that is all it is ? I'm thinking "mind control device" myself. Of course the question then is "who planted it ?" The Illuminati , the Russians, the New World Order ?
  23. Is this the first time that the U S A will have had a Science Fiction writer (Newt Gingrich, alright "co-author") in cabinet ?
  24. Has "Cast A Deadly Spell" been mentioned ? Horror/detective with a hero named Phil Lovecraft in a world where magic works, what's not to like ?
