1. How about buying one Follower but giving the Follower a Multiform Power? Not that that specific individual actually changes into other people, but to account for the fact that it won't be the same person each time. Or if you really want to emphasize that there can be several active at once but mostly "off panel" use Duplication, Cannot Recombine, but heavily Limited because the duplicates can never be helping each other in combat. Lucius Alexander Or do what I do and get a reifier of palindromedaries
2. Maybe you should cut back on the coughee. Sounds like it's making you coff. Lucius Alexander Though the rough cough and hiccough plough the palindromedary through, it ought to cross the lough.
3. If an Advantage is wearing an Active Point Cap is it really Naked? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says it's a clothes call
4. I'd go for a combination of a Contact (for all the behind the scenes stuff) and Summon, but maybe a better solution is Contact and Follower with some Limitations. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary asks if anyone else remembers the Variable Babe Pool
5. Thanks, but there wasn't enough there. This morning though I find a roll of quarters in a place I could swear I already looked. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary reports that Achmed heard defective.
6. Wasn't that pretty much their original concept? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says we had the CLOWN sourcebook at one point...
7. I might go with -10 but for this would consider a +10 Levels with Limitation to only use it for this kind of feat. I think the "Extraordinary Skill" rule that lets you do the "impossible' with a -10 roll is relevant here. Lucius Alexander I have to go now, the palindromedary is pestering me about doing the laundry. Also about scrounging up some money....
8. If I had a nickel for every time someone started a thread asking to do this particular ability... Lucius Alexander The palindromedary concludes that once I'd changed the nickels for quarters I'd have more than enough to go do laundry.
9. Do you know a proper basis state set? And can you introduce me? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary claims to know an improper basis state set but won't give me the phone number
10. you can start another whole thread for people to argue back and forth about CLOWN Lucius Alexander I've been tempted to start one for people to argue back and forth about palindromedaries
11. It is possible to depict aliens who are radically different but not necessarily, on balance, either inferior or superior. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says that assuming equal must mean identical is an artifact of the Human tendency to hierarchicalize and value-judge everything.
12. Because I don't think anyone's made the point explicit yet - The reason why, in fiction, Humans often seem inferior to aliens, robots, mutants, and other non-human but humanoid beings, is that these beings are created in response to Human desires and fears. They are created as what we would wish to be, or fear that we are. Lucius Alexander Someday I should see if I can get the palindromedary to write something longer than a tagline.
13. From the "What I've Learned Playing an Alien" thread: If a Human or group of Humans wants something you have - an item, knowledge, a resource, a service you can perform - try to make a mutually profitable trade. Humans love to trade. Not all of them are trustworthy, but in general, if you deal fairly with them, they will view you as a friend - and Humans can make surprisingly loyal and helpful friends. If Humans want something you have, and you can't arrange a beneficial trade, be aware that they are quite likely to attempt to get it by stealth or trickery. If the Humans need, or just want badly enough, something you have, and they have failed to trade for it and failed to steal it or trick you out of it, get your weapons ready. They will probably next attempt to wrest it from you by force. And they're STUBBORN. You should have tried harder to make a trade.... Lucius Alexander The palindromedary reports that consorting with Humans is hazardous to one's sanity
14. "I knew No Gigante. I fought No Gigante. And you, sir, are no No Gigante." "And that's fine with me!" Thus the villain No No Gigante, a former sumo wrestler who had aspired to perform in traditional Japanese drama, gained his name.... Lucius Alexander The palindromedary warns that some things do NOT bear repeating
15. You don't want an "official" chainsaw. You want one that works like the one that guy had in those movies. Lucius Alexander Official Palindromedary
16. The Dukes of Al-Hazred Just some Great Old Ones Never meaning no harm Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says that's a new spin on Southern Gothic
17. While I agree with you about disagreeing with Graywind, I don't necessarily agree with all of your reasoning. If there is a Limitation (I'd say -1/4, unless the character has Regeneration) on REC to prevent it from RECovering BODy, then hospitalization won't help but I don't think it follows that Paramedic can't help nor that the character is now effectively dead if below zero BOD (since they will start bleeding and the bleeding can't be stopped.) Now if a different Skill than Paramedics is called for, such as Science: Robotics or Power Skill: Necromancy, that might be just a note on the sheet - or maybe a small Complication. If, once BOD is below zero, the character can't be stabilized short of Healing or Regeneration (and assuming the character doesn't have those Powers) that might be a Limitation on BOD. A lot depends on character and context. If the character has an Automaton Power: Takes No Stun, and all abilities are on END Reserve or Charges so END isn't used, you can just buy REC down to zero (and END too.) Lucius Alexander The palindromedary wants to buy REC with an Advantage to move it up the Time Chart
18. In some cases, a free 11 or less Everyman Professional Skill is all that's appropriate. In others, a character's entire set of Skills might all relate to an occupation. And even if two characters have the same occupation, they might represent it with different Skills. Lucius Alexander PS: Palindromedary Rider
19. "Only to Trigger" implies that you have something with the Trigger Advantage on it. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary buys a Trigger Advantage for a singing cowboy
20. On the whole I think it's still coming out overpriced, but that may depend on how much you have to worry about conspiracy in your game. The idea is that if the character has already seen/heard/become aware of something connected to the plot (saw two people in conversation for example) and later perceives something else connected (perhaps one of those two conversing with someone else) there's a perception roll at +2 to Trigger the memory of the earlier clue. "Hm, Count Mahout is making a habit of whispered conversations in quiet corners, wonder what he's up to." Then the character has a +1 to an immediate Deduction roll to figure something out about the plot, perhaps where to look for another clue. "Earl Heeburd had some kind of quarrel with Mahout last week, maybe he knows what's going on and would be willing to tell." Lucius Alexander I can smell a palindromedary
21. S is for Sailor or S is for Seamanship Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says S is for Sailor but a Sailor is for the C
22. One pitfall I'd warn against is the Big Picture Trap. One can get to wrapped up in specifying the location and details of every empire, kingdom, and city state, or the various relationships among the Deities of several pantheons, or the historical conflicts and alliances among a dozen schools of magic, as to never get around to writing the first adventure. If you are actually going to eventually run a game, you have to keep coming back to "What does this look, sound, and feel like to the individual adventurer?" Lucius Alexander This tagline looks sounds and feels like a palindromedary
23. Could it be....that Sean is really Wormhole!? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary has never seen them together
24. Yeah, I'm calling back that Scottish hotel Lucius Alexander The palindromedary wants to confirm a room at the Inn Before the Loch.
25. I can Smell Intrigue: (Total: 20 Active Cost, 9 Real Cost) Detect: Clue to a Conspiracy A Class Of Things (anything connected to a sinister plot against the character) +2 PER roll (Sight Group), Increased Arc Of Perception (360 Degrees), Sense Affected As Another Sense (The clue could be something seen, heard, or even otherwise sensed; +0) (12 Active Points); Limited Power Only for Trigger (-1), Nonpersistent (-1/4) (Real Cost: 5) plus Eidetic Memory, Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger requires a Half Phase Action to reset, Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; +1/4) (6 Active Points); No Conscious Control (Only Effects cannot be controlled; -1) (Real Cost: 3) plus +1 with Deduction, Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger requires a Half Phase Action to reset, Character does not control activation of personal Trigger; +1/4) (2 Active Points); No Conscious Control (Only Effects cannot be controlled; -1) (Real Cost: 1) This build assumes the character already has Deduction. Lucius Alexander This tagline assumes
