That is the flip side, and why, I think, the SC ruled unanimously that the states can't define the grounds on their own. Yeah, we pick on Texas...but hey, look what Tennessee is trying to do, right now. Even if it is only state office holders...where they can. On the flip side, could we really trust, say, Cali or New York to maybe try keeping a DeSantis off the ballot? There's no legal grounds to block him...but that won't be stopping people. It'd be part of the next wave of political polarization, I'm afraid...like the impeachment process.
But would it even matter? Far right states that wouldn't have gone for Biden anyway take him off the ballot. So? Lincoln wasn't on the ballot in 1/3 of states in 1860.
On top of that, for all the birtherism that we had to hear in '08 and '12, Obama was never actually removed from any ballots. Because everyone knew that birtherism was BS, and the same would apply to calling Biden an "insurrectionist". But no, the GOP bluffed, and the liberal SCOTUS justices folded.

The SCOTUS can't make a ruling on a case they're not presented with.
Didn't stop them this time around.

According to the ABC News article on my newsfeed, the 9 justices were unanimous in ruling that states can't decide who can appear on ballots for federal office because allowing it would lead to chaos.
As opposed to the current chaos which the decision does nothing to solve. All the SCOTUS needed to do was define insurrection. Anything else, especially this "decision", is a punt at best and a gift to Trump at worst.

I'll have to figure out how to watch this. Sanada played the lead in one of my favourite movies: Tasogare Seibei (The Twilight Samurai), a jidai geki about the life and tribulations of a low-ranking samurai in the tail end of the Edo period.
That was his best film IMO.
Shogun also has Tadanobu Asano, if anyone was wondering what he'd been up to since Hela killed him in Ragnarok.

First episode of Shogun, the FX remake of the '80s miniseries based on the book by James Clavell. I never read the book, and I only dimly remember the Richard Chamberlain miniseries, but so far this iteration is really good. From what I recall, the last miniseries was almost entirely from Blackthorne's POV. This one shows a lot more of what's going on among the nobles, which is perfect for Game of Thrones fans who are literate enough for subtitles. Also I remember that in the first miniseries, Toranaga was basically a bad guy, whereas in this version his story is much more nuanced. It's a nice change for Hiroyuki Sanada, who in most U.S. productions has been cast as a bad guy.
I'm able to get to FX on demand through my Spectrum cable subscription, but it might also be available on Hulu or something.

If you were to combine my "How to Play HERO System" with it...
Except "How to Play" is for 6e. Knowing that they're the peanut butter and chocolate of a HERO System near-free game has me feeling a little uncomfortable about saying that. Because for $5 you'd have the game. Which is good if you're buying, but not so much if you're Hero Games.
Agreed. Although in general the better business model would be to give away the rules for next to nothing and make money on splatbooks and modules. If you're Hasbro or GW, then you have a gradual power creep with each successive splatbook so people have to keep buying them to remain competitive. But I'd like to think we wouldn't have to go that far.

But, the Raiders can sign Wilson to a 1-year deal for *league minimum.* And
https://overthecap.com/salary-cap/las-vegas-raiders
Cutting Jimmy G after 1 June saves $24M in cap space, and Wilson costs nothing. IF!!! you think Wilson can still play a mediocre level of QB, then spend the draft to get pieces, perhaps. They have 2 pretty good picks, 13 and 44, then #77 (third round)...and the rest are pretty much junk. (4 picks are between 210 and 227.)
It's funny, I completely missed that the Derps hired a new OC a month ago. Wilson might well do better under the legendary Luke Getsy than he did with the intricate Payton offense. The Bears' offense the last couple seasons didn't strike me as complex at all, and Wilson clearly wants to just play sandlot football anyway.

One writer at CBS Sports is projecting Russell Wilson to the Raiders after his release from Denver in a few days:
Another writer has also proposed releasing Jarrett Stidham. picking up an affordable veteran QB, and selecting a rookie QB in the middle rounds of the upcoming draft:
5-step quarterback plan for the Broncos in 2024
I also saw an article suggesting that Zach Wilson might end up in Denver, but I'm not going to dignify that with a link.
I would be most amused if we wound up effectively trading Garoppolo for Wilson in a perfect example of deck chair rearrangement.

I think Trump is the only one who still considers that a great accomplishment. He might have grasped what it was at the time, but after years of boasting he seems to have convinced himself it was an act of genius.
So what you're saying is, he needs a cognitive test?

Conveniently overlooked is why they felt Donald needed a cognitive test in the first place.

A group of ferrets is a business, as a group of crows is a murder. Although that many ferrets should probably be called something more like a 'whirlwind' or 'entropy'.
The term for these terms is venery, btw.
