  1. Re: urban fantasy hero posts Cyber Hero? Really?! That would kick-ass! I hope it happens.
  2. Re: urban fantasy hero posts Thanks Steve! I guess I can hope (fingers crossed) for a mid-Feb purchase from the online store! Which is fine by me.
  3. Re: urban fantasy hero posts Sweet! What the usual turnaround time for a booking going to the printers until I can get it in my twitching hands?
  4. Hi all, just looking for some input. One of my potential players wants to build a "Closer" loosely based off of the character Jack from A Night In the Lonesome October for my Mystical Hero campaign. A closer is someone who can shut (close) mystical gateways to other dimensions, banish demons, etc... So I was thinking of a multipower with 3 slots: drain extra dimensional movement, drain teleportation, drain summon. Now I would like the power to have the "variable limitations" limitation to simulate that different spells, summonings, gateways, etc... need different ways to close them. Some might take extra time, or need special Foci, or be a ritual, etc... These limitations would basically be GM controlled, so I think the "variable limitations" limitation should be worth more then the regular version that the player can control. So, how would you guys build this power or a power like it? Any help, ideas & input would be appreciated Thanks.
  5. Re: My mostly hard sci-fi campaign What's nogadi?
  6. Re: Slowly Expanding AOE Isn't it almost just an expanding/ranged Damage Shield?
  7. Re: Shades Of Black Is this a sign that we might start getting more adventures being published? Although I assume it probably depends on how well this one sells?
  8. Re: A character made of stone Thanks guys!!! All these samples and ideas are great!
  9. Hi everyone, I have a PC who wants to build a character that is a statue that has come to life (inhabited by the soul of a person sacrificed by Demon). How would you guys handle stating out the solid stone body of a character like this? What powers/build would you recommend? I'm debating between Armor or Resistant Damage Reduction for the "stone factor" Full life support (well, maybe not diminished sleeping-- his mind might still need to rest) to cover the fact that he's a solid stone statue. Higher CON & STR & BOD What do you guys think? How would you do it?
  10. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? Vibora Bay source book has a sentient swamp in it. I know that it's avatar is written-up in the book, but I can't remember if the swamp itself is.
  11. Re: URBAN FANTASY HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See? Is there a release date for this yet?
  12. Re: THE BOOK OF DRAGONS -- What Do *You* Want To See? I agree that it would be cool to show both sides of the dragon "situation". One section/chapter,etc... detailing dragons, their powers, skills, resources, lairs, etc... and another section/chapter detailing ways, means, gear, spells, etc... for characters to fight them. Kind of showing both sides to the conflict.
  13. Re: Traveller HERO: end is approaching Slightly off topic, but where can I read/find out more about the Hero License and getting one? I can only find info on submission guidelines, and thats it.
  14. Re: Perfect bodyguard Give him Danger Sense with a limitation that it only applies to the person he is protecting (the character can't tell if he (himself) is in danger, only if the person he is protecting is). Then he will know ahead of time if someone is going to shoot his target (and from where) so he can move into position to block the shot.
  15. Re: Western Hero Resources I don't suppose that there are any copies of Western Hero lying around in the Hero warehouse? I'm possibly starting up a post-apoc campaign that is going to have a strong western (& mystical) theme to it and I'd love to track down a copy for some inspiration.
  16. Re: Suggestion to the company and Steve for a book. Dawn of Demon but i guess we already have a Demon book. Maybe they can rename it?
  17. Re: Wait - you punch WHAT?!? (or what would the damage from an atomic bomb be?) Well "realistically" nuke's are actually fairly fragile and even a light - moderate amount of physical damage (to the bomb itself (not the housing)) would prevent it from going off (there still might be a small explosion as the charge detonates, but not a nuclear blast. Also, I believe, there are no liquid "radioactive" components to spray everywhere or to mix together, rather it is a hard uranium core surrounded by shaped explosives. But this is a game and that could (probably was) a super high-tech experimental bomb. So any of the above ideas could work perfectly for it. And in fact, if it was experimental who knows what exotic radioactive stuff was being used. You could have tons of non-deadly effects as well. Skin color change, rashes (causing -CV's for awhile), hair loss, warts, flipper babies, what have you.
  18. Re: Lame Superhero Rollcall Well, even then it's not such a bad power. Low powered, sure. He's not going to win a fight against Starbrand or Superman or anything. But he still used it in a cool way. He could fly/levitate on it (and if I remember correctly there was no strength limit on it) so he could lift a bunch of people on it if they could balance correctly. He could use it to lift injured people to safety (or a sniper up to a good vantage point, like he did in The War), he also used it to clear a landing field of bushes, etc... He could attack with it and use it to missile deflect (in hero terms). It was basically a "focus" for his telekinetic powers. I thought they handled it well.
  19. Re: Lame Superhero Rollcall He was great. At least a good writer made him cool. Like someone else mentioned earlier, there are no lame heroes/villains only lame writers and/or GMs.
  20. Re: Personal Sacrifice What if the loss of "Life Force" was the loss of Character Points? Every time the power was used the character would have to remove a certain number of CP worth of abilities/powers/stats from his/her sheet. It would represent him getting weaker, forgetting things, withering away, etc... Eventually he would have to remove the last of his BODY and die. Very evil, but kind of cool.

    Alignments

Re: Alignments You could just treat alignments as a "Special Effect" applied to the whole character. Just like powers can have "fire" or "ice" or "acid" as a special effect. Then all the builds in the campaign (monsters, weapons, armor, etc...) that might apply to alignment can be have Susceptibilities or Vulnerabilities to these "special effects". Sword does x2 STUN vs Evil characters. x1/2 BOD from Neutral attacks. The rules already exist for doing more and less damage from attacks/Defenses based on special effects. If Alignment is important enough in your campaign then just make it a special effect of the character.
  22. Re: Good Maps of Aarn? Oooo... That would be fantastic. Even better then the Book Of Dragons. Please try and make this happen.
  23. Does any one have or know where I can get a good, detailed map of Aarn?
  24. Has anyone bought/used/read this book? It sounds pretty cool, and I am starting up a new fantasy Hero game and I'd love to have a good city source book for it, especially since there is no Aaran source book (and it doesn't look like one will be written any time soon). So does anyone have any first hand information on this book, or, can anyone recommend a good fantasy city source book from any other publisher? Thanks.
  25. Re: ShadowrunHero game? I thought I would update this for anyone interested, and feedback would be welcome. So as I slowly plug along at my adaption of Shadowrun into Hero, I have come up with this as the base for my conversion: 1. In Shadowrun human stats go from 1 to 6, with 3 being human average. 2. In Hero normal human stats go from 1 to 20 with 8 being average. **Now in Dark Champions it says that 18 STR is a world class weightlifter, that's strong enough for me, so I am going to make 18 the human max cut-off for all stats. This will give human a range of 1-18 for stats in my campaign. 3. Taking both points 1 & 2 into account, that gives me the ratio that 1 stat point in SR = 3 points in Hero. With this ratio an Average human in Hero has a stat of 9 which is close enough to the standard 8 for me. Why is this important... 4. Knowing the ratio for stats makes it a lot easier to design cyberware, bioware and metahuman bonuses. IE) a dwarf with +2 CON in Shadowrun gets +6 CON in Hero, a +1 muscle replacement vat job will give a character +3 STR, A spell that provides a +3 INT check will give +9 INT in Hero, etc... You get the point. Now I am working out what the base points for Char.Gen should be. Any ideas for this would be cool. My plan right now is to build a non-magical, non-cyber character (Just a full skill based character) in Shadowrun, and then convert him over to Hero and see how many points it cost to make him. Then I will make an average shadowrun human and convert that and see how many points that costs in hero. Hopefully that will give me a good baseline to go by for CP's for character generation.
