  1. Re: What were: the best Marvel titles of the 80's? Like people have said, Thor was fantastic. So was Alien Legion . I also loved Psi-Force, started off weak, but kicked-ass later on.
  2. Re: After DEMON wins... The King's can't be all that bad. I mean they are very bad and would end civilization as we know it, but the Earth probably wouldn't be "warped" or incinerated. I mean they were here on earth before, a long time in the past, and people still survived back then. The oceans still existed, etc... People might be living in fear, hiding in caves, etc... but the earth itself shouldn't be in too bad of shape (unless of course the world governments tried to destroy the Kings with nukes when they first arrived). Then you are in a PA setting with Edom King minions running about.
  3. Re: Wild Card's Hero True, I forgot about that. I guess a high force field, plus damage reduction, plus Life support: Immortal, plus regeneration (resurection) would cover his abilities. but that is still pretty good mix for any hero.
  4. Re: Wild Card's Hero Susano, Are you going to be making/posting Jack "Golden Boy" Braun? He was always one of my favorites and I'd be interested in seeing how you build his force field since hero system doesn't have a true invulnerability power.
  5. Re: The Game: Consumer Recreation Services (CRS) Great movie. I'm not sure what you are looking for though. Are you trying to build the CRS company or just run a story where the PC is taking part in "The Game"? One thing CRS needs is a lot of money. Millions just to run one "Game", of course the player (or whoever signs him up) has to play that bill.
  6. Re: Help with a build: Binding a spirit Sweet. Ok, thanks guys for the help and the quick replies. -joe
  7. Re: Help with a build: Binding a spirit Hmmm... maybe I'm just slow today, but EDM? what's that short for?
  8. Hi all I am looking for some help with an item build. I am trying to build an item, most likly a sword or dagger, that when it is used to stab a summoned demon or spirit it would suck them into the weapon itself where it would be trapped. Can any one give a hand, or kick me in the right direction? Thanks
  9. Re: Wild Card's Hero New Books? Sweet!
  10. Re: [Campaign] The new, NEW Champions of Vancouver! Hey guys, When and where do you play? And are you looking for another player? I'm moving into Vancouver this week (from the valley) and I have had to leave my current group behind, so if you are looking for another player...
  11. Re: Star Trek: Dominion War Aftermath and effects? I also think the Breen could evelove into a major threat. Also, their might be another potential enemy force on the otherside of the wormhole that was being held in check by the Founders, but now that the Founders have retreated to thier homeworld, this other power has the chance to raise up and gain in power. I also think that all of the future tech that Voyager crew brought back with them from their adventures (like the doctor's remote holo emitter from far in the future, the super weapons and shielding that future Janeway brought back in the final episode, etc...) all of that tech could really change things up for the federation.
  12. Hi Steve, this isn't exactly a rules question, but it does apply to the Hero Universe Meta-Setting and I hope you could be of some help (or point me in the direction of a book that has the answers I am looking for). I am wondering whatever happened to the Gods of the Turakian Age? Are they still around in the present day in one form or another? Did they fade out of existance once the last of their followers passed away? Or did they move on to another plane of existance? I know the Dark Gods still exist, waiting for their chance/time to return, but what about the other Gods? Is there an "official" answer to this question? And for a more specific question, If a Priest or Paladin were to travel from the Turakian Age to the present would his abilities with the Requires a Faith roll or Only if surving Gods purpose limitations still work even if those Gods no longer exist?

    Jumper

Heres a trailer for a new sci-fi/superhero kind of film. It's called Jumper and it looks pretty good... http://www.jumperthemovie.com/
  14. Re: How long does tech last after The End? But if you need these things to still be working in 2055 just say that over the next few years (between 2007 and 2015) that there were some major technological breakthroughs that would make these devices last longer. And, if you really want, you could somehow tie in these breakthroughs to what caused the virus to be released in the first place.
  15. Re: Urban Fantasy Recommendations This is a little different from everyone elses suggestions, but how about the Carlos Castaneda books? Supposedly true, anthopological accounts, of a scientist learning about the ancient native american magic and how to become a sorcerer. Sure it involved taking drugs, but the books were pretty cool account of learning and using magic in the present day (well the 70's).
  16. Re: Urban Fantasy Recommendations I second "A night in the lonesome October" by Roger Zelazny, it is one of the best books I have read. Actually most of his stuff has a bit of Urban Fantasy in it, even the Amber books (especially the second series). Also you probably shouldn't over look Steven King. I know it is more horror, but most of his books involve magic and a modern urban setting.
  17. I'm just starting up a fantasy hero campaign and I am wonder what the best magic system would be. I haven't been able to get fantasy hero yet (still waiting for any type to hit, HC or SC, the store). So I don't have the official rules/guidelines for making a new magic system but I can probably figure something out, but I would like so imput from all of the other gm's and players out there as to what has worked best, what hasn't worked very well, etc... I should add, that I do have the Grimoires for types of spells and the campaign is going to be "high fantasy", I'm imagining a DnD "level" of magic. Can anyone offer up some ideas and helpful advice?
  18. Re: help with a character build Hey thanks guys. this helps a lot.
  19. Hi guys, I'm trying to design a new character but I'm having trouble figuring out the best way to make him work. So any ideas/help would be great. The concept is a character that grows in power over the course of the day (in 4 six hour increments). for example: from midnight to 6am he has no powers, just regular skills, perks, stats, etc... from 6am to noon he gains 2d6 EB, 3" flight from noon until 6pm his powers goto 4d6 EB & 6" flight then from 6pm 'till midnight they goto 8d6 Eb & 12" flight Then at midnight his powers fail and the day starts over again. So I was thinking of building him using Multiform, with each "phase" being a different "character" but since none of his skill, stats, perks, personality or disadvantages change the Mulitform power seems wrong... especially since he would have to "re-buy" all of his characteristics in each form to match his "normal" self. So does anyone have a better idea?
  20. Re: Ripping off the Late Roger Zelazny... I wouldn't use both teleport and teleport others, rather I'd have each card open a gateway to the person/place shown. Allowing more then one person to pass through at a time (since this happens in the books). Also, with the gateway open you could possibly evesdrop on people on the otherside (maybe with an invisable power effect advantage added on?)

    Traveler Hero

Re: Traveler Hero That was a cryptic, yet somewhat Zen, answer to my question.

    Traveler Hero

Re: Traveler Hero How are you going to handle Character Creation? To me, that is one of the biggest devides between the systems. Is there going to be total freedom to buy any skills, talents, stats that you like or is it going to be composed of a lot of Package Deals or "careers" that a player has to pick to represent the traditional careers that Traveller had? When I ran my own TravellerHero campaign a little while ago I let the players have free reign over their point spending but I found that it did not work aswell as I had hoped. Sometimes too much freedom is a problem as it takes away some of the feel of the source material.
  23. Re: Making the Big Map Yah, a labled graph paper map is good and simple. Maybe think up some major astronomical event that happened millions/billions of years ago that might have caused "clumps" or "groupings" of stars in certain small areas. For example, two galaxies collided or passed close together causing everything to get pulled/pushed around in that area of space. Or a black hole passed through the section leaving a long empty corridor, etc... For realism, though trying to make the map three dimensional would be sweet (but very hard unless someone has come up with a good program for it). So that all of you systems are not on a flat plane, but rather also above and below each other, etc...
  24. Re: The Wire Yah, Season 3 is now out on DVD here in North America (well in canada for sure, I don't know about the US)
  25. Re: The Wire More Sandbagger info can be found here: http://www.opsroom.org/index.html It's not updated often, but for a website about a 30 year old show with only about 24 episodes it does pretty good.
