  1. It's been raised to 4 and several other people injured are 'catastrophically so' - so it could rise again. Still, let's hear it for the police in London for containing the situation so quickly.
  2. Or just a powerful enough mental blast. Doing 30 stun to 20 stun mook would make them pass out from 'fear'. Pre attacks fall into the category of 'mutually assured destruction' in my games - +30 presence can make most common enemies just flat out give up (to say nothing of +40, or even +50 if you're playing a 60 AP game). And most heroes. One person used it one session before getting bored (along with the rest of the table, who were actively displeased). Nobody takes it at an extreme level any longer as a result - mostly because it was dull, but partially in the hope that *I* didn't field such a villain to counter it....
  3. I've never seen a Harry Potter movie, nor do I intend to. I borrowed the books up until Half-Blood prince and thought they were ok but when the person I was borrowing from moved away I didn't care to seek out the last book on my own: I just read the wikipedia entry and called it a day.
  4. It has no choice but to surge - the reality, thanks to the 'lying media' and even their own 'credible sources' - is just too hard to ignore: The overall populace is backing inclusion and fairness, and has been trending that way for over a century now. Arthur C Clarke WAS correct - world wide communication has done a lot more to show us that we're more alike than different. That baby giggling and being cute in the latest viral video someone shows you isn't a white baby, or a brown baby, or a purple baby - it's a BABY. Being cute. Just like yours. These people are dinosaurs staring at the bright light on the horizon after the meteor strike and waiting for the shock wave and fallout. Social media and such gives them a place to get together and roar at it, but it's already hit. The ones that survive will ultimately do so by evolving into something less overt. Mind you, that could make them (even more) dangerous.
  5. Her prequel money probably has her set for life, anyways. I think she can afford to take parts she truly wants to do.
  6. Good. As long as they do it outside or where I can't see them.
  7. But he WAS the only one sensibly dressed for a jungle excursion.
  8. Depending on the nature of the game, definitely (it has a stop sign for a reason): It would be devastating at 'street level'. That said it's a really expensive advantage that raises the DC of an attack so if you're playing in a game with DC caps it's going to be hit pretty hard as a serious attack. At least as a raw damage attack, that is: It does get scary if you use martial moves with it, like choke hold or grabs (the rules let it work but conceptually how WOULD one break the grab of something they can't touch? You can't exert force against them!). (And also for unlocking doors for your allies while Vipre agents empty clips against you trying to stop you as one player did in one of my games. Solid 20 character point investment for any desolid-theme character. I've gone that route as well, but the character in my example was also an energy blaster (spectral energy) - and while they did have a blast that could affect the physical world it wasn't going to slow down anyone with any kind of defenses, really, so the full active point limit blast was needed.
  9. Hmm. I suppose that's not much different than buying extra damage classes with martial attacks and taking crush (both 4 per d6 at base) - except for the HA can be advantaged. My knee jerk reaction was 'no' but it's a fair point.
  10. The whims of fate would have to be very whimmy indeed to make that happen. If only Confessor had pulled off an upset against Batman...
  11. I've always liked this Multipower for 'Ghost characters': Manifestation (don't have my books so I can't remember the exact cost - 60 or 80 I think) Ghostform (Desolidification), no END, Persistent Manifested Form (DR physical 75% + some rPD) Basically it's a hero that is intangible most of the time but when they need to interact with the world they're still highly resistant to physical damage (still mostly 'phased out'). At first I had 'cost end' on the Manifested Form, to reflect effort in using it, but it resulted in an interesting situation that when stunned or knocked out they weren't a 'ghost' at all. Played around with time limit but couldn't get it working right in a pool (does switching the slot renew the time limit when you use it again (so not a limit at all), etc).
  12. What if you want to add your HA to said punch? I've always treated this situation as Multiple Attack - two arms to grab (or maintain a grab), and then a punch. You technically get the -2 (? Can't remember the penalt) for a one hand hold, though - since the extra limbs write up basically spells out that it's a fluff power (hence 2 extra arms or a hundred costing the same) that might come up out of combat every once in a while.
  13. Savitar also scared Jesse off by telling her he had plans for her. That could be another finger pointed towards Wally. Or... H.R. Most of what's been said so far could apply to him as well and he told HR that the 'coward' is the only one to survive... perhaps by becoming Savitar? Yet another kick at the old 'Wells is the traitor, whether he knows it or not, can'? Or 'Disposable Season Extra is Disposable' - it's Julian after all and that's why the speed force trapped Savitar can communicate with him, possess him, etc.
  14. Nightwing can outthink and outfight Luke any day of the week and in a different venue he might be able to set something up that takes Luke out of the fight without hurting him (since he can't) - such as by arranging Luke to be pinned under something that even he can't lift - but in a Casino and Resort? There's nothing there that can stop him - not even locking him in the bank vault. Batman might have something in the old utility belt but Nightwing (thankfully, for the most part) is less known for that sort Deus Ex Batmanica. "It's called unbreakable skin, fool."
  15. Not if you're a subscriber to the "Foods for those who no longer care" thread.
  16. The ability to speak does not make one intelligent.
  17. I'm rewatching Harmony Gold's port of Robotech for the first time in 30 years. So bad (dialogue). So good (themes, mecha, battles). So nostalgic. The ability to skip any time Minmei is/was on screen (save for "We Will Win" due to her singing over the final epic confrontation and all) probably saved my sanity. On to the Southern Cross saga ... the one I'm least familiar with since I've read novelisations of Macross and the Invid Invasion but the book shop on base skipped that trilogy of novels for some reason.
  18. That is quite possibly the greatest headline I have ever read.
  19. I think it looks pretty good - but not really like Thor. More like Russell Crowe from Gladiator. "My name is Thor Odinson, commander of the Armies of Asgard, defender of Midgaard, faithful son of the true King, Odin Allfather. Brother to a faithless usurper, companion to an unstoppable brute. And I would have words with thee, in this Realm or the next."
  20. Back just after high school I was running a World of Darkness game which would occasionally have up to 12 players show up. It worked out, amazingly, because I compartmentalised the group - it was more like three groups of four running amok through the mean streets of Miami. I would switch 'groups' every 10 to 15 minutes and switch character focus if they were doing their own thing (like one of the groups casing a bank - each in different spots) every three or four minutes. I used an egg timer and everyone, whether it was there 'turn' or not, was interested in whatever the other groups were doing. Or they'd talk about computer games quietly amongst themselves if they weren't. Or RP amongst their 'group' - I even let them roll dice against each other without my intervention, if they wanted (the werewolves liked to beat each other senseless with non-aggravated damage 'playfighting') but not the 'world' (so no "I stole a car and crashed it through the building's window while I was waiting.") If someone appeared to be getting bored I instantly 'spotlighted' them for a few minutes to keep them engaged until it came to their proper turn (bored, not whiny). Four to six is optimal but its harder to come by these days among my friends, so three is a more common number.
