  1. Re: Favorite Abuse OK, how about this one? Uber Blast o' Doom: Energy Blast 25d6, Reduced Endurance (0 END; +1/2) (187 Active Points); Window Of Opportunity (once per 2,500 Years; window remains open for 1 Century; -7 1/4) (Real cost: 23) Guess when the window of opportunity is open? Also, I hadn't thought of how the defense would apply versus all the linked ones separately, nice catch.
  2. Re: Favorite Abuse I thought of two things. The first is a 38 point 12d6 EB that functions just like a normal 12d6 EB: (Total: 60 Active Cost, 38 Real Cost) Energy Blast 1d6 (Real Cost: 5) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) plus Energy Blast 1d6 (5 Active Points); Linked (Energy Blast; Lesser Power can only be used when character uses greater Power at full value; -3/4) (Real Cost: 3) The second is a cheap NND that always works: 60Power Strike: Multipower, 60-point reserve4u 1) Mortal Strike: Hand-To-Hand Attack +6d6, No Normal Defense (LS: Immortal; +1) (60 Active Points); Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/2)64u 2) Immortal Strike: Hand-To-Hand Attack +6d6, No Normal Defense (Not having LS: Immortal; +1) (60 Active Points); Hand-To-Hand Attack (-1/2)6
  3. Re: Magic of the Realm: Regency Spells 15 light minutes is twice the orbit of the Earth yes? Impressive. How'd they build that thing?
  4. Re: Fantasy Hero Setting Conversions? Maybe everyone thinks that HERO is superior! MUahhaha!
  5. Re: Working Precognition That's a great idea. I had a guy with precognition and I was clueless (since precognition isn't on MY character sheet). I eventually told him to get rid of it and buy something else.
  6. Re: Favorite HERO mechanics Nobody mentioned Disadvantages. Specifically, more disads = more points. I've seen other systems with them but not with such great flexibility. Also, Power Limitations/Advantages which allow you to create anything you can imagine.
  7. Re: Star Trek Online (Star Trek's new MMO) The Star Destroyer would win because Star Wars is more cool than Star Trek.
  8. Re: Giant Robot RPG (carry over post to SH from DC) Thanks again Chris.
  9. Re: Magic of the Realm: Regency Spells Just to take out any pesky invading armies: Army Killer: Killing Attack - Ranged 6d6, Increased Maximum Range (253,125"; +3/4), Area Of Effect (16384" Radius; +3 1/2) (472 Active Points) Got a town that's on the verge of rebelling? Cast this one: Pacify City: Mind Control 12d6 (Human class of minds), Uncontrolled (+1/2), Continuous (+1), Area Of Effect (1920" Radius; +2 3/4) (315 Active Points); Set Effect (Only to make people peaceful; -1/2)
  10. Re: Star Trek: Legacy - New game by Bethesda Softworks Bethesda likes to take their time with games but they are generally quite good. Did anyone here play Daggerfall? That has to be one of the best PC RPG's of all time, though buggy. Star Fleet Command was a very nice game. It offered many tactical options so you had to think as much as have quick reflexes. Good stuff.
  11. Re: Star Trek Online (Star Trek's new MMO) Shadowbane did. But, it had very little story content. Other than three main cities, all cities were paid for and maintained by players themselves. Cities would be built and torn down all by players. It was a great game with extremely harsh consequences. As for Star Trek MMO, it sounds not very interesting.
  12. Re: Translator Badges Just slap on Self Only (-1/2). Seems reasonable in this case.
  13. Re: Giant Robot RPG (carry over post to SH from DC) Just got my copy of Robot Warriors a couple of days ago. Do you guys think it would be worthwhile to take its rules and translate it to 5th edition HERO?
  14. Re: Works Well in the Source Material, not so Well in the Game Politics can be a bit tough to emulate in a game. It's too complicated for most players and then they can easily mess up anything you might plan. Person A bribing Person B to spy on Person C who acts different knowing he's being spied on all so he can be the next council leader, etc. Oops, a player just killed Person AAB's nephew and messed it all up. World threatening story-lines are also tough. What happens if the players fail? Game over?
  15. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 It's gotta have ground effects and a spoiler or it's not worth driving.
  16. Re: MegaVoice Cyberware I thought about Flash vs. Hearing but he's more interested in scaring/stunning people than anything else.
  17. I tried to hijack the spacer's toolkit 2 thread with this question and nobody responded. (I wonder why?) I'm running a Terran Empires campaign and one of my players was interested in having cyberware to enhance his voice. It would emit a loud shrill sound to cause people in front of him to want to cover their ears. Essentially this would stun them for a Phase and potentially make them drop their weapons. I thought of two ways to do this: 1. MegaVoice v1: +20 PRE (20 Active Points); Only to make fear based Presence attacks (-2), Restrainable (Only by means other than Grabs and Entangles; -1/4) 2. MegaVoice v2: Mind Control 5d6 (Human class of minds), Area Of Effect (6" Cone; +1) (50 Active Points); Set Effect (Cover their ears) (-1/2), Restrainable (Only by means other than Grabs and Entangles; -1/4) My fear is that version 2 would rarely work even against normal people and it costs a bunch of points too, so version 1 seems pretty good. Can anyone come up with any other clever ways to do this?
  18. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 Apparently, neither am I.
  19. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 They should definitely expand the cyberware idea. On a side note, not to derail this post or anything, a friend of mine wants a "cyber-voice" that emits a shrill high pitched sound. The purpose of this is to make opponents pause to cover their ears. I thought of a couple of ways to do this: 1. +20 PRE, only for pressence attacks 2. Mind Control, Set Effect (cover their ears) Any other suggestions?
  20. Re: FH weapon damage Doesn't deadly blow add to the base weapon damage and thus increase the doubled amount? It does sound like you've got a problem with some munchkinism though. 25 STR could lift 800 kg or almost a ton. Are these normal sized people or giants?
  21. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 I was responding to Curufea. Heck, I'd buy ALL the books, they just gotta publish them.
  22. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 I'd probably buy CyberHero if it came out. Shadowrun is a cool game, I love the setting. But I hate the rules.
  23. Re: Resurrection Yes, in theory you could resurrect a burned beheaded poisoned person under my rules. I think at the very least you'll need to have some remains of the body though.
  24. Re: On Fantasy [G.R.R.M.] Uncle Kevin probably just doesn't like Cersei but maybe he does have other motives. I agree, Bron chapters might be cool but I'm not sure he sees enough important stuff to warrant it.
  25. Re: UNOFFICIAL: Spacer's Toolkit 2 I just got Spacer's Toolkit and it's been useful already. I'd probably buy a sequel if it came out.
