  1. I believe it's more on the lines of those systems don't represent combat effects in the same manner. The M&M I'm familiar with replaced as much math as possible with varying 'stress states' to save against. Palladium had an interesting mechanic with two types of health points, but they were still HEALTH points in that a character wasn't disabled until they were injured. Old School V&V (and the myriad war game babies attempting to simulate medieval combat) were concerned with nothing but health points. To be honest, having a STUN characteristic is what draws me to Hero. If the only non-lethal options are run away or sneak by, RPG's play too much like CRPG's.
  2. Q: Hey! T'Challa! Can your jet get me to Europe? A: That's what happens when you give knighthoods to musicians.
  3. Is that the supervillainess with cheek make-up that emits a light wavelength known to sap the will of any male that looks upon it?
  4. No matter who tells you otherwise, dried cow dung is NOT a valid substitute for Kingsford.
  5. It isn't that he doesn't want to, he can't. Take note of the similar body styles, mannerisms, and thought patterns and it will become obvious that Donald Trump is Kim Jong Un's secret identity. NT: If tomatoes are truly a fruit, why hasn't anyone made wine with them?
  6. Build the mecha as a vehicle with AI, build the pilot as a pilot with a vehicle perk (that would be the mecha) and a multiform that is limited in that the pilot can only transform when piloting the mecha (note that the pilot isn't REQUIRED to transform when piloting the mecha). The second form wouldn't have the vehicle perk, and therefore the mecha vehicle would vanish upon the transformation. This sounds prohibitively expensive, but seems the least complicated method for creating this sort of characters.
  7. If you're thinking PER is too broad for the specific 'insight' intended, characters with some skill in Acting or Persuasion could use a complementary skill roll with the PER roll.
  8. Q: What was it Charles said to Meghan before the violins started? A: The last time I saw something like that, we had to use turpentine, a teapot, and three hyenas.
  9. You know, a complete disconnect between the stated "style" and the list of maneuvers purchased is neither unheard of nor problematic. Put together the list of maneuvers that appear to give you the proper power in play, and then call it whatever you want. Considering the character you mentioned, it should be an aggressively athletic style that combines powerful strikes and the ability to contend with multiple attackers. I would suggest Tiger Claw Kung Fu. The only thing you need (other than the KS) would be to describe the clawed hand attacks used in combat.
  10. O END is a feature given to charge to offset some of the advantages delivered by END. A 2d6 ranged killing eye-laser (3 END) has certain features that the 2d6 automatic pistol does not. Gazerbeam is tired, so he starts shooting his eye-laser at 1d6-1 (using one END). Joe Bullet has sixteen shots, all doing 2d6. Gazerbeam is trapped, and pushes his eye-laser to write a message on the cave wall, just in case. Joe Bullet is trapped, and can just manage to chip the wall in sixteen places no matter how hard he pulls the trigger. So, yes, one intentional feature of charges is the 0 END cost, because it offsets drawbacks that SHOULD reduce the costs of charges.
  11. Q: Is it just me, or isn't that Donald and Melania in a Prius? A: The sunglasses are in the freezer.
  12. Jermaine. Michael and Janet always made me uncomfortable, for very different reasons. What you said: Action Jackson (Carl Weathers) vs Action Jackson (Ajay Devgn)
  13. Q: I can take the fact that this weeks plot is just going to the grocery store, but why is Sheldon squeezing the toilet paper? A: Because, apparently, a multilevel cross-lagged structural equation analysis of universal low-energy behavior in three-body systems proves that the Big Bang was Jehovah passing gas.
  14. I thought SOP for SHIELD is to introduce a number of characters and then eliminate all of them that aren't stock humans. Daisy's staying power is a bug, not a feature.
  15. What better way to do so than hijacking a thread and subverting the OP's topic?
  16. No. Just no. Both. Glen Campbell didn't scan right in the first, and I remember less of the more recent film so it had to be worse.
  17. You're out of luck. Assuming the GM would approve a rules pretzel, remember the GM has the authority to outright ignore any random act that breaks the story the GM is determined to tell. So, your choices are limited to playing along and discovering what tale the GM is telling or not looking back on your way out the door. If it does turn out to be a tale told by an idiot (you know, sound, fury, nada) you'll need a new GM.
  18. Thus far, none of the extended Marvel film universe has actively disappointed me, with one exception. Marvel's Runaways on HULU. There may be an audience out there that would have appreciated it, but I was not part of that audience. It isn't ironic that I said the same thing about Beverly Hills 90210. I haven't checked, but I think the writer's from that prime time teenage soap came out of retirement to do Runaways.
  19. I just finished reading True Grit, it's nothing like the movie.
  20. Q: How is it possible to consider him a viable candidate yet retain enough mental function to mark the ballot correctly? A: I was just following the party line, long live the party!
  21. Island of Dr. Moreau because I like H.G. Wells hmmm, Frenchman (Jules Verne) vs Englishman (H. G. Wells)
  22. If you mean Fawcett's (and later DC's) Captain Marvel, then you are correct. On the other hand, Marvel's original Captain Marvel became a definite multiform (when he and exoskeleton-wearing Rick Jones would exchange places so one could do whatever while the other waited in a limbo dimension).
  23. Soul, of course. I'll take Aretha Franklin over Carl Sagan any day. Stoned III: Sean Penn in Fast Times at Ridgemont High vs Keanu Reeves in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure
