  1. My opinion: I wouldn't. Actually experiencing something vs knowing "I know what I'm up against" are vastly different. I may know I'm in a forest where I might meet a grizzly and plan accordingly. If I meet the grizzly, I'm not gonna say, "Oh yeah?!" Viper or Until agents can be trained to react in a given situation, I agree, but how much can an agent prepare to seeing his buddy get blasted back 50 feet, and now the Super is looking at him? More practically, I don't think mook agents, particularly for supervillains, would have high PRE. If it gets too high, the villain might wonder if this agent thinks he's too good to follow orders.
  2. Some of you may not upgrade villains for reasons of GM style or campaign. However, I expect the majority of GMs take villains from various editions and upgrade them to the edition that you're using. I just upgraded a hold-out npc that was in 1st edition: the paper it was on was yellowing and the ink was fading. I'd forgotten about the NPC and now that I was going to have her show up in game and thought "Yikes! This is hard on the eyes." Her cost jumped about 100 points now that's she's been updated. Hmmm, I wonder if I have any others I forgot to update? Doubt it. Do any other GMs find that you forgot to upgrade an older villain or npc to the current edition you use? Do the point costs jump or drop? For myself, I generally see the cost increase.
  3. Duke, I hope your flight goes well. I expect alot of people traveling for work or the holidays for this season. There seems to be a misunderstanding. Duke, you mention in 5e the page (p234) etc. Simply put: we aren't talking about 5th or 6th edition; merely 1st-4th edition didn't have it. No need for any pseduo-language at anyone. However, I'm leaving this discussion since it seems to be warming up.
  4. Duke, as Hugh said, until 5e there was no explicit reference to C.A. and well aware of "linked", but "linked" is not C.A. as it's used now. Hugh, you state "there were some who indicated..." etc. Can you be offer more explanation?

  6. Until 5th edition, there was no such thing as Combined Attack.
  7. "The Pikeman" has a 1d6 KA pike weapon, coming up to 2d6 total with Strength. "The Dud" with his 50 Str decides to charge him for a move-through with his running of 6" or 12m for 6th ed. The Pikeman plants the end of his pike in the ground, aiming the sharp pointy end at The Dud. The Dud runs fully into it, not realizing this is going to at least sting. How would you handle this situation, in regards to: a) OCV for Pikeman since The Dud is running right at him b) DCV for PIkeman since he's planting his weapon into the ground c) The damage Pikeman does to The Dud d) The Dud's move-through damage and OCV
  8. Since the heroes are that powerful, there's no reason some of the standard villains had someone increase their powers as well. Agents can be given super-technology by pseudo-Lex (whomever) and be quite the threat when they're each aiming their Blast Cannon of a 14d6 Blast at you, with megabelts of protection. Gravitar will be glad to meet them, as well as Monster, Slug with his army (sure, you can stomp them but try that when you're swarmed by slugs - wow, that doesn't sound threatening), Sunburst and so on.
  9. Here's one superhero campaign that uses it. Hence my suggestion for -1/4 but it varies depending on the campaign.
  10. Actually, there is such a table: Champions 2 p.16. However, I don't know if we're permitted to show an entire page of one of their (old) publications, otherwise I'd post it.
  11. Con rolls are more common in our campaigns so for us it's worth a -1/4.
  12. Champions 2 had a minion sheet for Turtle Armor. That's about all I can think of but that pre-dates 4th edition.
  13. Seeking examples that demonstrate this is a problem: You response is a nonsequitor. I stated our campaign position, that is all I stated. Whether or not I think it's a problem is a different thing.
  14. I'd go with either Greywind's idea, or simply run it as special effect and roleplay it. Personally, I'd go with running it as special effect and roleplay it. Realism causes all sorts of things to happen that simply don't in a superhero situation. A gun would causes all kinds of problems other than simply injuring; why isn't that 6d6 Fire Blast roasting/burning someone with a 25 ED, etc. Realistic attacks causes all kinds of secondary problems so I guess how realistic is the campaign? Not everything needs to be stated out and is simply special effect - again depending on the campaign. However, howabout this: 1) HKA - simple enough. 2) Stretching, no NCM, no intermediate space, only usable with HKA, linked (if that's still around in 6th ed, don't have book in front of me).

Hey, massey, for the campaign we're in, the sniper would be the only one to get a 12's attack, then a whole new round would start. massey quote: We allow people to hold generally (as opposed to something specific such as "when that guy comes around the corner"). Woo! Nice to see someone else does this, too. KA., depending on the situation, if the higher dex guy races the 30"/60meters across but the lower dex guy is ready, the lower dex guy could try something to surprise the higher dex guy and thus, effectively go first. Again, depends alot on the situation and creativity of the people involved. I have a vague GM memory of having a viper agent surprising a higher dex/speed hero and effectively going first but can't recall any specifics.
  16. Allow me to congratulate you on being around, and staying around, so long. Nice to hear this. I hope the Western Hero 6th ed works out wonderfully. I'd throw my 2 cents in but we never allow Combined Attacks or Multiple Attacks, short of autofire in the campaign I'm in.
  17. It's your campaign and you get to decide what happens. Go with the flow; unless you really want to go into details of court procedures and court trials, I wouldn't worry much about it. I've got a couple characters who are police officers for jobs and this is maybe come up, what, once in 30+ years of the campaign. I'd go with what Duke and steriaca said. For the campaign I'm in, we don't sweat things like this.

  19. I've never done such a campaign myself, nor heard of anyone doing one. I would heed everyone's caution and avoid it. It's one thing for characters to go ballistic, it's another thing for real people to lose tempers. Perhaps Fantasy Hero is more what you're looking to do.
  20. I knew it was around way back when, but now I don't have to look it up. Well done, rravenwood! Usagi said, " I feel like Dying is not significant in HERO" etc. Fortunately, the games were mentioned: Star Hero and Fantasy Hero. Question: How often are heroes going to be dying? Having a character bleed to death is almost never heroic. Also, consideration has be taken regarding how long it takes a player to create heroes. Unless you're taking a DnD route and 'too bad you're dead', If a character is going to die, make it heroic! It will be more significant and remembered for a long time than "my arm got cut off by an Orc/blaster and I bled to death." A heroic death in a story is immeasurably more significant than a character croaking off from damage. Granted, the type of game you play can be as varied as the sand but I've done a 'heroic death' story before - over 10 years ago and everyone still remembers it. If a character is going to die because he's outnumbered, ala Boromir, that's understood, but it was still a heroic feat. If you feel like dying in these games isn't significant, talk to your players about it. They may come up with something everyone agrees on.
