  1. For planetary Danger Sense, you are paying points to get an effect that boosts the power of a useful sense for the character. It has a STOP on it for a reason. If a player wanted to buy it but you don't want them to have it, give them reasons why you don't think it fits in with your campaign. For myself, I would allow it as a GM and it gives me all sorts of wonderful reasons to throw adventures out for the players. I'd use it, not kick the character to the curb just because a player wants to try it. It sounds much like the old Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell) once he acquired Cosmic Awareness.
  2. zslane, if point totals are immaterial because they are "Plot Device NPCs and items", I'm curious why you bothering to create it? Are they supposed to fight these beings? If so, do the characters even stand a chance?
  3. I like your work, and encourage you to keep going.
  4. Gotten disagree with your second line. A Boss by 'definition' is generally designed to take on strong opponents, if not half a dozen all at once. I certainly don't think a Boss is a Boss if he needs friends to help him battle. However, there's certainly nothing wrong with creative tactics being used by players.
  5. Vrock wins because it's a cooler name than just 'barbed devil'. Tarzan vs Kraven the Hunter
  6. Same here Bolo. This is my experience as both player & GM: there are characters that have skills that don't come into play very often. As player, I had 200 xp go by before I used a skill: KS: Plumbing 8-. However... the time came when that skill suddenly became a central part of hilarity in the game and now shows up now & then. The same applies to a skill being used rarely by other players. However, when those skills kick in, the player becomes the star of the show. As GM, I can't recall every single skill all the PC's have! I'm GM'ing along and introduce a situation to the characters when suddenly a player says "My character has a skill for this." I've been surprised and I run with it - improvisation! I am well-pleased to go with the improvisation because it's a challenge to me as a GM and a rare opportunity to let a PC shine. I cannot recall ever having a skill someone bought that at some time it eventually gets used, generally surprising others and throwing a fun twist in the works.
  7. And which wargames that the first rpg evolves from were those?
  8. I like the idea of basing knockback on the DC of the base attack. 5d6 Drain vs Str is 50 Pts. Adding the 'Does Knockback' is a +1/4 adding an additional 12 pts for a Real Cost of 62 pts. Those 12 pts spent are almost useless using the 5d6 example I mentioned (20 pts rolled consisting of die rolls of 4,4,4,4,4). It that comes out to 5 Body then you roll 2d6 for Knockback, the average of 2d6 is 7 pts. No Knockback for your 12 pts spent. The majority of the time, you will not get Knockback, making those points almost useless.
  9. I'm doing alot of different things at the moment so I missed the explanation in the book. Thanks.
  10. How would you calculate the knockback on the following power: Drain 5d6 Str, with advantage Does Knockback. Assuming I roll 5d6 and get 20 pts of Str Drain (all 4's), what would you do with this?
  11. Thank you for replying to us all. We're not afraid of long posts as many posters will attest to. You got a campaign idea in mind and what you want to do with it. Ultimately, be open with your players: don't be afraid to tell others that you're testing some campaign ideas and they may need to be fine tuned later on. Don't be afraid to make a mistake: if you find some of your ideas aren't working or need to be revised, then let them know about the new changes. You might even want to get some player input. When I GM and run across a situation I'm not sure about, I ask the players what should be done. Rarely do I make a decision by myself: getting a response from the players tells them you're flexible and that both GM & Players are there to have a fun time. It also builds trust from the players. Don't feel pressured that you need to reply or post on the forums. We're a friendly group and more than willing to give advice - sometimes lots of it.
  12. We are missing alot of information here. We do not know if the GM put forth his houserules openly before everyone before they decided to create characters, or if the GM added the rule. This is critical. To add a houserule about guns after the fact is bad thinking. If the houserule is there before anyone creates characters, then the player must create a character appropriately knowing fully the rule(s) are there. If the player is joining an existing campaign but has a different idea or seeks an exception, the two must sit down together to discuss matters. Without knowing more about the below, it's difficult to make a determination. Campaign rules are that guns can't have an OCV above a certain value, and therefore Gunslingers must reduce a target's DCV to be effective.
  13. Gnome, RDU, I forgot this is a houserule during this forum perusal. He needs to mention that there are alot of characters in the comics who use guns (not to mention Western Hero) as well as in the movies who can do unreal things with pistols. Talking to the GM is necessary since we're missing information.
  14. Or Lucious, maybe the rules about guns shouldn't be there. If there's something in the rules that are preventing a common concept to be created, or at least making it difficult to create, you gotta question the ruling. As the GM for a ruling; the GM has the final say-so on what's what.
  15. I'm thinking of a 100 or 120 pt Cosmic Power Pool would work for her, although she often uses only a fraction of her power here & there because she's so chaotic. Being able to throw someone miles (not instantly) makes you do a double-take. Her forcewall is ridiculously power; she's bored while missiles, tank shells, tank energy blasts etc are ignored by her.
  16. There was a CGI/Live actors combo version, called ReBOOT: The Guardian Code. Unfortunately, it didn't touch on what the fans wanted: to see the continuation of the original series. It received bad reviews even before it showed. I've only seen snippets of it myself.
  17. Oh yes, I forgot there was a Live Action series based on the original CGI series. Ignore the live action. I'm referring to the CGI series. Yes, Hexadecimal effectively has 0 End on everything; I suppose she could run low on it with a few weeks of constant use.
  18. For those who've seen the ReBOOT series, I'm planning an adventure where the characters face off against Hexadecimal. What power level would you place her at in points. Whereas she has effectively 0 End on everything, she's not unbeatable nor does she use 'full-power' in every situation. What do you suggest for her stats & powers?
  19. My group was joking about being stealthy while trying to sneak into a villain lair. I joked about trying to eat Captain Crunch quietly. A player rolls dice and gets a 3, then says "I eat Capn Crunch quietly" out loud.
  20. The only time I allow free equipment for the Champions campaign is for commonplace items: phone, flashlight, firstaid kid, etc. Of course, I also allow one-shot plot items for the characters there & there. The only time someone asked why they can't keep some supervillain gear is when I replied, "For game balance." It was enough and hasn't been brought up in a long, long time.
  21. A long time ago, I had Dr. Destroyer send a virus into the internet to detect any trace of him and wipe it clean of any data. It was an interesting idea but I never did anything with it afterwards and I seriously doubt anyone remembers that game episode. dougmacd, I know people who don't take photos with phones.
  22. KS, these are really cool. I've got D3 but it's simply a 6-sider with 1, 2, 3 on twice. This would definitely stand out as a half-die. Thanks for the info!
  23. The converting chart was found. Don't worry: the chart is a general idea used and then the stats are altered as necessary to fit into the game.
  24. Isn't that more the fault of the GM who allowed it than the player or the system? (Assuming it was a problem; in some campaigns it might be in the range of acceptable values). As assumption here on both points, which I will clarify. I didn't say I was GM'ing this, nor was it allowed. Someone wanted to add their character from a different campaign, the player having played D&D. Simply put: I was giving bits & pieces of an experience which was a little complicated.
