Tech got a reaction from Ninja-Bear in Is Hero still your "go-to" rpg system?
I'm glad to say that I reintroduced the battlemap to our players years ago for Champions and they enjoy it. Of course, since then I've had to create 200+ paper minifigs. Having the bad guys place layed-out in front of them makes for a lot more interesting; you get to see just far you can actually move on a half-move, etc.

Decades later after Champions 1st edition came out for the first time, Champions is still my go-to system, and the campaign celebrated it's 40th anniversary. Played Robotech RPG alongside it for years but that campaign stopped.

Also, we use 'E' from 'The Incredibles' movie nowadays.  She really takes care of the problem of 'where did you get your durable suit/weapons from?'

velocity affects damage of certain maneuvers (move by, move through for example). movement affects how far you physically travel

I'll talk it over with another GM but I'm going to suggest -1 1/4, based on our campaign. Thanks all.

I avoided Transform because Transform works against the Body of an opponent, Mind Control against Ego. It makes more sense for it to be Mind Control; it's also cheaper than Transform with the -1 Limit.

I'd give it at least a -1 limitation; that's a pretty specific and rare circumstance.

I like to find existing examples developed by the game designer(s) to provide guidance with questions like this. There are a few examples in Champions Powers similar to what you’re describing. Page 122 lists how Emotion Control is used and mentions, among other emotions, affecting the target’s “calmness.” The limitation is -1.

Mind Control; Only To Alter/Inflict One Emotional State (-1).

There are a couple of other examples which use Set Effect at the -1 level (stop and pay attention only to me, don’t hurt me).

Also, you might want to consider a mental Transform.

Re: What should be DROPPED from HERO?

Actually using Two weapons if you are properly trained does allow you to attack multiple times OR use one for defense. You attack simoulaneously with both weapons. Its taught in two weapon fighting styles like Escrima, Kali and certain schools of fencing. At least that is what I have learned. That's in the real world.

I can't speak for guns I've never tried to use two at once. I suppose you could point them both and shoot at once.

In a cinematic world such as what Hero tends to emulate both of them are obviously a pretty effective technique. Personally, I haven't had any problems with Two Weapon fighting, certainly nothing game breaking. And everything in Hero is optional. You don't want them in your game, don't use them but I don't think they should excised from the game entirely because you don't like them.

Heroes catch an illegal, movable gambling tent. The leader of it says, "I know it's illegal but we run a clean show."
Heroes were fighting a tough villain. One of the heroes says, "I'm going to use my secret weapon - running like a coward!"

So you are saying that Penetrating needs to be a higher value advantage because they gave it its own defense type in 6e. I can understand that but also feel that Hardened should go back to being a defense against both Armor Piercing and Penetrating.

For a similar episode I did a long time ago, I started it off with describing each heroes secret id life that has just gotten so wonderful... but they can't seem to recall why. Eventually, the heroes in the dream realize that they are in a dream and look for an escape. A large monster guards the way, which they have to defeat. After they do, they woke up to find a villain who had them all under a sleep machine, giving them all wonderful lives to live (but they saw through it). A very short battle occurs where the heroes bash the villain unconscious.

And this is why I can say, No, no hero has died in the campaign I'm in. It's come close a few times but the players have become very good at protecting teammates.

It's these sorts of discussions that chase me back to want to use 2nd or 3rd edition rules. Much less to read.

Tech reacted to Hugh Neilson in Ironclad: A Question About his Dorvalan Sword (HKA)
Point out to those who say it's wrong that they are violating the RAW of 6e!  Specifically, see v1, p 11:

    and

Your ability to change the RAW is explicitly provided right there in the RAW!

BTW, @Duke Bushido, technically that means that playing by the 2e rules is following 6e RAW.

I've run into that too many times on these boards. This is why I'm not looking at these forums too much anymore. We can do whatever we want with our games.
