  4. Re: Turakian Age with no Kal Turak I would have thought that the Turarkian Age without Kal-Turak would be the Somethingelse Age.
  5. Re: Medieval Diet Grains and cereals also featured highly in diets - why a grain blight or bad harvest meant starvation.
  6. Re: Looking for sector map generators I run Gal2.4 within a DosBox - just look it up and down load the program. Runs sweet.

    Fembot

Re: Fembot As long as she doesn't look like Bender.
  8. Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... Sorry -I meant the Githiaski.
  9. Re: So you want to design your own aliens? Well... Traveller already had the Githianki (or whatever they were called). Big intelligent squid-like beings. Real fancy pressure suits for them too.
  10. Re: Solar system modeling software? You could try googling "stargen" and have a look at that piece of software. Quite cool.
  11. Re: Space drives. Thanks - just one thing. What are the variables in the equation above. v = velocity? t = time? a = acceleration? what is s? distance?
  12. Been looking through lots of oldl threads on this topic and found some cool stuff. For my Space Opera Hero game I want a star drive using instantaneous jumps (ala Mote in God's Eye). I am putting a limitation on jump drives that will not allow them to work within xAU of the central star, depending on type. What I want is normal space drives that take, depending on how good the astrogation is, anywhere from days to weeks to transit from planet to jump point (and vice versa). I have looked at the SH sample space ships and cannot get my head around how long trips would take with, say for instance, the merchant ship example.
  13. Re: Is there a Janes Ships of the Terran Empire? Just about finished the Denoba-class Spice Runner. In Space Opera, ships can move pretty fast. This one clocks along at 45Ly per day max speed. That is something like 16,000Ly/Yr. I was wondering what limitations to put on the engines to keep speed down to a cruising speed of 75% of Max Speed without using considerably more fuel (END).
  14. Re: Is there a Janes Ships of the Terran Empire? Thanks guys to all your comments and suggestions. What I have been doing is taking ships from the FGU Space Opera setting and converting them. I figure that what they "do" is more important than nuts and bolts. Once I got past that designing ships seems a little easier in Hero.
  15. Re: Is there a Janes Ships of the Terran Empire? Thanks - I was thinking of getting both those products at some stage. GUPRS Traveller had a fan produced pdf book called 101 Starships which was totally awesome. I was kind of hoping someone had done something similar for Star Hero, for those of us who are terminally time-strapped.
  16. Or in fact any collection of ready made Hero System starships either as a product tha tis sold by HG or a web collection put together by gamers with more patience than me? While HS can build anything, I find making space ships with Heroes a pain in the airlock. Oh for the simplicity of High Guard. cheers Brian
  17. Re: Training away DCV Penalties from Armor I let people buy the entire DCV penalty off if they want to so spend their XPs. There is still the END penalty for encumbrance so it is not as if they are wearing nothing (unless they have enchanted armour that negates weight penalties). I figure if Conan can fight in full plate as King of Aquilonia at 60+ years of age, any decent adventurer shoudl eb able to.
  18. Re: Real Locations that should be fantasy I would say pretty much anywhere in New Zealand might be good for a fantasy story - or perhaps a movie or three.

Re: Chtulhu You have probably seen this but...
  20. Re: Low Point Campeign: Archtype Package Deals For a real low point campaign check this out http://www.geocities.com/wewhodare/harn/wwd/background.html
  21. Re: Norse Warrior Hi You could do worse to hunt down a book published by ICE "Campaign Classics: Vikings". It has background and Hero related stats and so forth. Old original FH but still useful. Cheers B
  22. Re: Rest in Peace: Bob Bledsaw CSotIO is worth it just for the city map. I still love it.
  23. Re: Keeping track of END, STUN and BOD. You mean when they cash in their chips?
  24. I have begun experimenting with using coloured poker chips to keep track of PC STUN, END and BOD. I hate book keeping and making sure everyone keeps track of these things, END especially, annoys the hell out of me. Anyway, each player gets coloured chips equal to the total of their stats and each turn they toss them into the pot, only taking them back when they take recoveries. Anyone else doing this or something like it?
  25. Re: Do you have any "deal breakers" when it comes 6th edition? Perhaps I came to this whole thing too late but what the hell is wrong with 5th edition? I have been using 4th edition since 1990 and only just today brought 5th edition. Is there a need to change things again?
