  1. Good points. I'll set it at the recommended -1. Thank you both!
  2. I have a player who wants to make his force field so that if he moves (such as being knocked back, picked up by the villain, what have you) the FF will automatically turn off. At this point I'm presuming that means that he can't move with it on either (such as running). Apparently he's a mentalist who tends to set up camp in a spot and launch his attacks for the team from that spot. What level do you set this at? Sounds pretty limiting to me. Probably over a -1. Suggestions?
  3. Ya know, I don't use paper minis (because my players are purists) but those are damn good.
  4. Similarly, my campaign is constructed around the campaign city enlisting the aid of heroes because of the demise of the previous team. They recruit heroes and give them use of a base (thus removing any need to buy one of their own and allowing me to make it however I want). You can also have a lot of coincidence eventually imply that there is a guiding force in the universe that is bringing you together. You could even have an occultic character imply knowledge of your fates being intertwined. You don't need to decide why or how right now; it's just a way to guide them together. Then there's the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" type of thing. They could band together because of a common evil that is preying on heroes. Perhaps knock off one or two NPCs created for this purpose to create tension, forcing the heroes to watch each other's backs.
  5. "BLUE" is a hacker, one of only a few in the champions campaign. She's normal in this world and a superhero in the net. Most of the beings she encounters on the net are programs or "avatars" of real life hackers, wheras in her case her consciosness is actually uploaded to the web, thereby giving her incredible speed and strength denied other programs on the web. There, she's basically a Goddess, unlike the real world. So naturally, she's addicted to jacking-in. Among the campaigns I proposed to my players when I decided to run a Hero Games system was the following rejected campaign: The characters are "agent level" normals with cyberpunk skills and abilities, but on the net they are all heroes. Players build two characters: One for real life at agent level and one at super-powered level for when they are plugged in. Essentially this would give me the chance to shift gears, switching between superheroic and dark-champions level characters during the same campaign. One day you're shooting it out on a street (and not instantly dying like in Cyberpunk) and the next minute you're an avenging angel, dragon, toad, etc. on the net duking it out with sysops and black-ice. Would have been fun. I think it finished 3rd in the 4 campaign settings I suggested.
  6. I meet with my players today to wrap up our Vampire game. Theoretically we will set up a date to gather and start the Champions campaign (and probably build characters since a few are game-slackers or just unfamiliar with the rules). In a perfect world, they will set their DEX around 20-23, but I have allowed them to go as high as 35 as long as the character is balanced. I hope they are amenable. In the DEX abuse column, put the one villain I made in my old campaign who had a 40 DEX. She was a "Tigra" type, and was pretty much all Dex, Speed, claws and sex appeal. She also had the campaign's highest COM. I plan to make less outrageous villains this time... at least to start with.
  7. Oh, get your mind out of the gutter. I was referring to a fight! Actually, I was just making a cheap post to edge toward 400.
  8. Finally, some potential Scarlet Witch on Zatanna action.

    Apocalypse Hero

I too began my GMing career in Gamma World! With all those kids who had D&D, I was the only one with Gamma World, which made me very popular for a time. Funny that after all this time I've never read any post-holocaust fiction. (Well, I am Legend is a post plague tale, but that's as close as I get)

    USPDB

I am enjoying the wealth of new supplements, even if I don't use all of them. I even have Star Hero, and it's likely I'll never get around to running a game. My players have their champions ideas lined up but are looking to me to solve their power design difficulties. I'm hoping that the USPDB will give them more options. I think it's the best idea for a champions supplement ever!
  12. I'm going to go against the grain here and suggest you find one of the easier earlier games, like Justic Inc or an earlier edition of Champions, and then anytime you have a rule that you can't figure out due to lack of clarity or you can't figure out how to do something because it's not in the book, Look it up in 5e. In no time you'll be using all kinds of 5e rules. After all, one of the strengths of 5th edition is the index. Only problem you'll have with this procedure is rounding up old supplements to run. But even those can be ordered online in various spots.
  13. I think the lines are funnier without an explantion: "Just what this game needs. More evil cows!"
  14. While Black Harlequin always struck me as a Joker knock-off, I still get more from his character than I did from Janus. In fact, based on the story presented (I don't own SAS) I couldn't get any real grip on Janus' character. In some cases, like AliceQoH v. Tbird, not knowing the SAS character didn't hurt them any. Here it definitely did.
  15. I guess I'm in the minority. Between PD and ED, I'm thinking PD. Chemical reactions always seemed to be physical phenomenon to me. I also tend to think of it as Killing damage rather than regular, so I generally wouldn't do an NND. That's a real head-scratcher though.
  16. Thanks! Yeh, I wrote this message a couple of days ago, but I saw Steve's message in Today's Update. I'll just keep thumbing through MC and looking forlorn until then.
  17. Re: Help with Acronym About that "C" part... Corrector? Conspirator? How about Corollary?... Webster's says, "Something that naturally follows". This guy is what would naturally follow as a result of such activities by the committee.
  18. Has anyone seen it yet in stores? I know it's close.

    Poor Scorpia

LOL "Any suggestions for new recruits?" "How about Slick from The Ultimates... He's dreamy!"

    Poor Scorpia

A little tooo Ironic. And yeah, I really do think.
  21. Hmm. Don't remember seeing that. But then I'm notorious for missing details like that. I'm likely to make my players pay for it anyway, even if the book says otherwise.
  22. That's damn funny. Okay, here goes... If my mouse has universal translator and I want to buy it down by restricting the languages so that he must be "taught" them (Kind of like the Cramming perk, only for languages) and I were going to require use of pipe cleaners, duct tape, and a kilo of pure heroine, what would the limitation be worth? (You can't imagine how hard it was to make up a question to fit those answers)
  23. ALSO... I saw a Champions Accessory Pack (with the Screen in it) at a local Wizards of the Coast store. And most Wizards stores are currently liquidating all of the RPG stuff that is not their own! So it was like 40% off. I already had one, so I didn't bother. But I thought I'd suggest you do dig through your local Wiz store, if you have one around. It's a fairly generic looking package, white with no cover art.
  24. That's a champions question, but it's also a "company question", so you might want to try it in there, to get Steve's attention, since he's "tha man". I have to say this is kinda cool too, if you have extra money floating around: Master Screen It's basically a hard vinyl 4-panel screen with clear plastic over the surface so that you can slip whatever pages you want down through the plastic, essentially manufacturing any screen you want. I was using one as a player in Vampire, printing up all of the useful tables, and inserting my characters into the other slots, and writing on the surface in water soluble marker to track damage, blood loss, etc. It's gonna be very useful in my champions game, printing out whatever tables I want and inserting them.
