Lord knows if I'd had to spend years of my life listening to Kat Dennings give line readings I'd have moved Heaven and Earth to avoid signing up for another round. Just sitting through four hours of hearing her attempts at wacky sidekick comedy thud to the ground left me wanting to sew her mouth shut.

Meh. Give me Kulan Gath or their space adventures with the Starjammers. They've already failed hard once trying to film the Dark Phoenix story arc.

He compensates for the lack of billions of dollars by substituting billions of bullets. Even the Ben Affleck Batman would look at him and go "Damn, maybe you should get some therapy and try to work out your dead family issues nonviolently."

This is the same problem of disbelief suspension I have with the Planet of the Apes movies. OK, the apes are stronger/more athletic than us just like in the real world, and now they're as smart and can talk or otherwise engage in complex communication. Are they bulletproof? Can they duplicate themselves endlessly like Multiple Man? Because a few thousand intelligent apes at most aren't going to be a grave existential threat to 7 billion human beings with full use of current military technology. Or even the 350 million or so who survive the viral pandemic in the PotA movies.

1- The Darkhold is controlled by something that seems to be maleovent and right now the Darkhold controls the LMDs.

2- Aida gives existing in The Framework priority over living in reality.  Major freedom of choice and sanctity of life issues arise from this. She has to keep adding people to The Framework to protect it from them. That means everybody will eventually be replaced.

3- Even if The Framework and the Darkhold were out of the picture, you don't want unsupervised AI's doing Top Secret work involving National and Planetary security.

4- Any project that "We have to keep secret from our friends or they'll shut us down" should be exposed and shut down or taken over by people who aren't so paranoid.

Maybe so, but this is Jed and Maurissa's baby, other than the pilot episode.

I'll go along with two out of three of those. The writing isn't substantially better than any of the other CW super shows, though.

Is it the hip thing now to reject Shakespeare as some of the greatest literature in the English language? Whatever.

I know how you feel sinanju, I too am frustrated by the generally low quality of writing for nearly all superhero shows. The prevailing wisdom in Hollywood seems to be that the audience for these shows isn't discerning enough to notice or care, so why should they spend the money on finding good writers? It may even be true for the most part; after all, we here in these forums are a tiny, tiny minority, and spending money to raise the level of writing to impress us simply doesn't make any economic sense.

At least Supergirl has writing that isn't atrocious (unlike the other CW superhero shows), a terrific cast (especially its lead actress), and a generally cheerful and optimistic outlook.

Four episodes in, I'm really enjoying Legion. Blows away all the other supers shows on traditional TV.

Legion has won my heart for comic book-inspired TV series after the bitter disappointments of Agents of SHIELD and the Berlantiverse shows. I'm not really sure what's going on as yet, but it's a hell of a ride.

A member of the Tiger Squad, his hero name translates loosly as Iron Prayer Bead Monk Which The Buddha Listens To. While he is an decent martial artist (Shalin Kung Fu), and his prayer beads are indestructible iron weapons, his best power is his incredible luck. As long as he faces evil, his vary actions are blessed by the Buddha himself.

In a supers universe, supervillains robbing banks is a real world problem.

For many studio heads, "animated" equals, "for kids." Movies aimed at adults have to be more "serious."

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Marvel's movie success starts with producers who themselves know, understand, and respect the source material. Until Warner Bros. puts people with the same relationship to DC's characters firmly at the head of their comic-book film properties, those films will continue to struggle to find their footing.

Yeah, give an advanced android the ability to change its own operating parameters and the most dangerous book of black magic on the planet—what could possibly go wrong?

I thought Doctor Strange did an admirable job of making magic versatile in the MCU while also making its use by a given sorcerer small enough scale that it won't overshadow the Avengers and all the other superheroes. Strange couldn't have waved his hands and made the Project Insight helicarriers or Sokovia disappear, but he can do things like astral projection and defensive shielding that aren't in the other heroes' power sets.

No, I'm saying Magic would be something not explainable or measurable by scientific method, sort of like "art" and the thoughts bouncing around your head as you read this.  Magic is, by its very definition, a-scientific, outside scientific explanation and examination. That's what makes it magical as opposed to just some mutant power.

You can think and love and create art without it being uncontrollably random despite being impossible to measure etc.

For me, if magic is just science we don't yet get, it stops being magical.
