If I may, I'd like to retract my previous comment.  After thinking it through (I should really do that BEFORE I type something), I wouldn't be angry at anyone...angry that this is happening maybe, but not angry at anyone.  Above all else, I hope that your nephew gets through this, along with the rest of you.  That is by far the highest priority.  I don't know if you are a religious person, but I'll put you and yours in my prayers anyway, and hope that is taken well.  "Sh*t gets real" for me when I can put names and faces on an issue, even names and faces of people I don't really know and may never meet.  Take care of you and yours!

I've been binge watching Loki tonight. Pure distilled crazy.

I have a nephew who DJs for large groups (weddings, etc.) pretty much every weekend. He's never been vaccinated because he doesn't feel it's that big a risk.
 
Well, guess what we learned this week? Yep, he got COVID. He was pretty sick last week, but he's doing better now.
 
But his newborn daughter--literally less than a month old--is now in the hospital with COVID. 
 
I don't know whether to be sad or angry.

    Well let me cop to this first...I never got into The Walking Dead, and I always thought that the whole Marvel Zombie thing was a cheap advertising stunt run amok.
   For those who don’t follow such things the term Marvel Zombie was coined sometime in the ‘60’s or ‘70’s for Stan’s Marvel Bullpen columns for someone fanatical in their love for the comics.  It was then taken in the community as a slam for somebody who ONLY read Marvel.  No DC, no indie books, no anime, no nothing...and was annoying about it.
   Then came the success of the Walking Dead series.  Marvel’s promotional staff leapt on the idea of a special issue incorporating the term into a whole book.  And like a science experiment escaping from the lab a phenomenon was born.
   The episode was good enough and I suspect will be a “To be continued” situation.  I did spend a lot of the episode mistaking the character with the thick accent for Michael Morbius (The Living Vampire) who will be featured in an upcoming movie, but it was just one of “those wombats” from the Ant-Man film.
    The things that are always good were good here. (How soon we become jaded.) and I believe many of not most of you will enjoy this offering.    Me, I’m just waiting for next week.

Speaking of Mexico, you suppose there's any chance we could get them to take Texas back?

Also gone. Though we had to clean the garbage can with bleach.

You have given me much to think about...

I'd just go with sad.  I'm assuming your nephew is regretting his actions and choices far, far more strongly than you are.  His anger at himself is more than enough on that score.

Apparently, a state can't in all cases delegate regulatory duties to private individuals or private organizations because it violates the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. It has to pick and choose when it can according to whether the private organization is substantially doing the regulatory duty using the same standard as a state agency would.
 
In the Texas abortion case, however, the state is attempting to devolve regulatory power onto private individuals or private organizations which no state agency even has. That's violating the precedent which Larkin v Grendel set up.
 
Which makes any court challenge to the Texas law much easier since the Supreme Court has already set up guidelines for how to a state may do such a thing. And how it may not....

Among the comments from this judge: Hamilton County Common Pleas Judge Michael Oster Jr. wrote that there “was no doubt that the medical and scientific communities do not support the use of ivermectin as a treatment for Covid-19.”
