Veronica Mars was a great TV show.  I loved the characters as well as the plots - especially how each episode generally had it's own separate mystery but also added stuff that fit into the overarching plot for that season.

Not surprisingly, I also enjoyed iZombie, created by the same guy who made Veronica Mars.  More great characters, including some bad guys (like Blaine) you really love to hate (though there were also a few failed attempts there, like Mr. Boss or the food-truck anti-zombie woman whose name I never bothered to remember).

    Fallacy.
By this logic no one could follow any movies with full armor ( knights, etc), fighter aircraft after WW1 or any drama with a motorcycle helmet.
Not to mention the repeated scifi movies where the characters are where full face helmets.
Starship Troopers power armor is BIG compared to the wearer/pilot.  And based on our history, once in a war they will become adorned with a version of " nose art fairly soon.
A Starship Troopers movie that actually has Starship Troopers is very doable.

They are reserving Batman for poorly made mediocre movies.
They can't allow a TV show version outshine a movies version can they?

To be fair, the show's not great. It'll probably need a few more episodes before I decide whether to keep watching it.

If that audience score is accurate, then Batwoman's ratings will totally tank and it won't come back after winter break.  OTH, if the low audience score is just the work of sad boys deliberating trying to tank the show because it is about a lesbian superhero, then the ratings will likely stay decent by CW standards and the show will carry on.  Time will tell.

I want services from the government. In fact, I want MORE services from the government. I also happen to be perfectly aware that this will require the government to collect more tax revenue (and/or reduce military spending by being less enthusiastic about killing people overseas).

However, I'm also aware that the very rich and big business are not paying their fair share of the tax burden. We, as a nation, do not need to raise the tax burden on the middle class or the poor to raise revenue. We can get all the money we need by raising taxes on people who can easily afford it--and who, as demographic groups, were paying far more tax back in the '50s that the right likes so much.

For me,  I can see why Warren would want to avoid giving the Press that quick Sound bite of "Taxes will go up for the middle class " while the "but you you will SAVE much more than that and here's why..." stuff is cut off. But yes, it did not look good on her. She's got the lead in polls but it's hers to lose. She's still my pick by a narrow margin.

Bernie was fantastic, particularly for a guy who underwent surgery. He came across with sincerity, passion, and good humor. The part where he joked with Biden when Biden was talking of talking of Putin while gesturing Bernie's way came off good for both men. Their age is under fire, and maybe despite their differences they feel a common challenge there.

Kamala Harris seemed really fixated on shutting Trumps' twitter down and trying to get Warren on board with it. I'm not sure what she was going for there. It's like she was trying to make Warren look bad, but picked a really WEIRD angle to do it with.

I rather like Andrew Yang. He's very different in his approaches, but he has some good points... honestly, I don't see him as a president (though I'd be good with it), but after this he needs to be on some sort of position that advises the president. To quote an over used term, he thinks outside the box.

I actually like what Steyer was saying, but I have strong concerns he'd not be able to walk the talk.

Of all the centrists, Mayor Pete is the one I like the best.  I don't agree with him on some matters but I would trust his intelligence and education to be advantages.

I completely agree when you say "All in all, the debate showed several people I'd be happy to see in the Oval Office."
I'd take any of over Trump, and at least four of them I'd consider a win beyond merely 'the lesser of evils'.
I cannot say how tired I am of voting based on the lesser of evils.

I can live in an apartment if I pay rent to the landlord.  I can leave and not pay rent.  If I refuse to pay, and refuse to leave, men with guns will come and take me to jail if I persist in not paying my "voluntary" rent.  I cannot politely decline to pay the rent and continue to reside in that home.

Why is choosing to leave the apartment or pay the rent required to remain in that apartment different from choosing to leave the country (and/or renounce citizenship) or remain in the country (and/or retain citizenship) and pay the taxes required to remain in the country?

But you yourself said that you would not chip in for the public schools that educate the children who will grow up to be police, fire fighters and ambulance crews, did you not?  You were only willing to pay while your child was in the school system.  Would you be prepared to pony up the full cost of the education system, divided by the number of students in attendance in those years?  Would you expect to select which school subjects you would, and would not, pay for?   Note that those schools also provide the basic education needed to train the many professionals who provide medical services paid for by medicare.

Where were all those people who would be lining up to chip in to medicare when people were railing against Obamacare?  I know far too many people who think they can do a better job saving for their retirement than government can, and would opt out of the enforced savings plan of social security.  But they would not expect to be left to starve in the streets when they failed to save, became ill (and had no medical coverage as they did not pay for it), lost their jobs (no benefits as they did not pay in) and ran out of money.

Many public services are funded from tax dollars precisely because the average citizen will not choose to chip in with everyone else to make those services available.

This is a good example of why a voluntary taxation scheme or opt-out system is a very bad idea. All of us, including you, ScottishFox, benefit every day from the advantages of an educated populace. That you would only be interested in paying for the education system when it directly benefits you and yours is disgustingly selfish. Would you also argue that if you don't drive, none of your taxes should go to roads?

I told Stephen Amell a few years ago on his FB page that Batman wanted his villains back. Not really their fault, tho. Green Arrow's rogues gallery sucks compared to 99.9999% of the rest of DC's heroes.

But Robin Hood did. The Batman allusion, not an explicit straightjacket. That said, it was as much as Star City substituting for Gotham & Arrow substituting for Batman, without being Batman. The tone, style and noirish elements of Arrow call to mind Batman, at least to me. So with Arrow finishing up, CW has replaced Arrow with another Batman clone in Batwoman.

Flash, Supergirl and Legends are more lighthearted, and colourful that remind me of Silver Age, (Legends May be Bronze Age). Arrow feels like Golden Age mixed with pulping hard-boiled crime fiction.

All these complaints about the quality of the effects.  Am I the only one old enough to have sat thru live action TV Spider-Man? To anyone who has a problem with the Ben Affleck version of Daredevil I wish to turn your attention to the acting chops of Mr. Rex Smith as the man without fear.  Not happy with the physique or accent of Chris Helmsworth, may I remind you of Eric Allen Kramer.   And let us never forget David Hasselhoff as Nick Fury Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.
This is the Golden Age for superheroics on TV.   Enjoy it.

Good point. She didn't exactly get the stiffest sentence for whatever level of murder the conviction was, either. Ten years is a drop in the bucket compared to the years she took from that man and his family.

It is possible I misunderstood wat Mr Vance said, or (after several months) am conflating it with other impeachment discussions.

IIRC the House does nave a Sergeant-at-Arms, or something like that, who is in fact armed. But I do not know the limits of what the House can order its one troop to do, or if the House could deputize additional sergeants to assist it in its constitutional duties, so I'll withdraw the point.

I'm not disagreeing with the gist of what you're saying, but that one's a pretty strict no go. I'd have to see some confirmation from an original source to accept it. Unless you're not literally talking about the military.

Abrams' first Star Trek movie wasn't terrible, but archer's right, the guy doesn't understand what makes Star Trek Star Trek.  HIs aren't Star Trek movies:  they don't examine the human condition; they don't turn a critical eye toward social issues or even posit a positive view of the future.  They're slam-bang popcorn action flicks with Star Trek trappings.  The Force Awakens wasn't a terrible movie but it's really just a remake, so he gets scant credit from me for that.

His production company might find a way to make some good DC movies but I wouldn't let him personally near one.

Well, J.J. Abrams kinda ruined Star Trek and Star Wars. This does not bode well for the tattered remnants of the DCEU. Everyone, including Warner Brothers, should just dispense with the idea that there is, or ever will be, a single cohesive DC cinematic universe. Without a WB/DC equivalent to Kevin Feige it's just not gonna happen. And no, a loosely (barely) connected collection of superhero movies do not a cinematic universe make. WB/DC would be better off just sticking to what they do best: animated tv shows and video game licensing, and leave the cinematic universes to the professionals.
