  1. Re: Vertigo Immunity Based on those articles, nearly a third of people should be pretty much immune to motion sickness. That still doesn't show that those who suffer from motion sickness are healthier than those that don't. I also doubt that non-sufferers are less coordinated than sufferers.
  2. Re: Starwars Vehicles: Any ideas? They provide no bonuses to this piloting. They can help with target selection and identification as well as making system repairs and rerouting of power (e.g. shields double-front).
  3. Re: A different way of doing Disads Well, if the Disad isn't a Total, then you should have a chance to ignore it anyways (with appropriate Ego roll).
  4. Re: Doctrine for beginning vampire slayers? Faith killed the guy, not Buffy, and then just didn't care. She was all amped up from fighting vamps and running around with Buffy.
  5. Re: How do you guys deal with WoTC drones? Yep, one can take the Wealth feat in D20 Modern... Barbarian, 20 Con, Rage... Been there, done that. Doesn't take anything more than backstory. Which Core books? There are the D&D core books, D20 Modern Core books... OK, make each of those with just 25+25 disad. Else you aren't really creating something like a 1st level character in HERO either.
  6. Re: Starwars Vehicles: Any ideas? Well, one could look in the Star Hero forum... Seems there are quite a few threads in there about Star Wars and the HERO system...
  7. Re: Building Hero with Hero Last time I checked, a fire that was 6 METERS (nearly 20 FEET) across was not exactly a little zippo flame... At that size we're talking about a fire releasing 10MW of heat at temperatures above 500F (assuming nothing more flammable than wood). That's enough heat energy to cause about 50 lbs of wood to spontaneously combust (the entire thing all at once) in just a few minutes (212 seconds). But, since it only needs to heat up the surface to that point, it would easily ignite the walls meters away in just a few seconds with that much heat output. Which means even more heat being released which spreads the fire... Pretty fast as long as it can keep finding air to supply it as it goes.
  8. Re: Rolling lots of D6s Right average, wrong distribution and variance.
  9. Re: Rolling lots of D6s Boredom + Ingenuity = http://www.daemonstorm.com/role-playing/accessory/Lego-Dice-Tower I need to go to the LEGO store again and find some more blocks to rebuild the front. Right now I have 2x1 transparent bricks making up sections of the front so you can see through, but they are a weakness in the structure as they don't have any offset overlap with surrounding bricks. So, time to get some more and make the whole front transparent I also want to make it so it folds down for transport rather than pulling the tower off the base, heheh.
  10. Re: Rolling lots of D6s Dice scatter is one reason. And is the reason I built my own lego dice tower for rolling lots of dice and keeping them confined. Another reason is speed up in the game. Even using clustering by 10's and other methods, it still takes more time the more dice one has to add up. As for why 3 per die instead of 3.5. Well, you don't want to roll them, so A) you take a small penalty on the dice you don't roll and gets rid of the fraction for odd number of dice.

  12. Re: Order of the Stick Well, you can play in it via the Order of the Stick boardgame It's actually pretty fun for a dungeon crawl, heheh.
  13. Re: Ability Check Variant: Count the Body Sounds like you are just wanting to rebuild things as they existed in D6 (e.g. Star Wars from WEG, D6 Legends (Xena & Hercules, Ghostbusters, etc...) and the current releases). Attributes/Skills are Xd6+Y, roll and total and compare against diff or opposed roll.
  14. Re: Dresden files anti-tech aura The problem with doing it as a suppress is that the items, once damaged, don't recover. And in ways it is a disadvantage. He can't use a cellphone, TV, modern radio, etc... has to have an old car or he has to actively work to keep his aura tucked in and under control. Yes, Butcher uses it as a plot device, but technically that is what any disad is for (e.g. hunted...). The group I'm in has modeled it for our current game and it seems to be (and I'm sure the GM will correct me if I'm wrong), but basically the more active points the magic used by the caster is, the larger and more destructive the aura is to technology. Something like 1d6 per 10 active points with an explosion effect.
  15. Re: Scientists claim warp drive is possible Well, one might be able to get around that. We've got bacteria here on Earth that we've resurrected from being frozen in the ice caps for 25,000 years that came alive as soon as the ice was thawed from around them.
  16. Re: Learning from the mistakes of others I enjoyed playing 3.x, but got tired of it after a while (like I do with almost all games). Level based games work for a few genres (like High Fantasy), but the turnoff for me was the long times with an unchanged character. With SR, GURPS, HERO, etc... I can see a character slowly changing over time rather than stair-stepping up in power.
  17. Re: Scientists claim warp drive is possible I didn't realize a stasis pod was mass dependent for powering it. Yes, it takes more energy to speed up or slow down, but not to keep the lights on inside the ship which is all I was referring to...
  18. Re: Scientists claim warp drive is possible Well, as you get to higher fractions of C you won't need nearly as much power for maintaining the systems as the passage of time inside the ship would be reduced. v (fractions of C) Time to travel the distance (50LY) Internal time felt 0.001 50000 49999.975 0.01 5000 4999.749994 0.1 500 497.4937186 0.2 250 244.9489743 0.3 166.6666667 158.9898669 0.4 125 114.5643924 0.5 100 86.60254038 0.6 83.33333333 66.66666667 0.7 71.42857143 51.01020306 0.8 62.5 37.5 0.9 55.55555556 24.21610524
  19. Re: Random cave maps That is very neat. How do you have the map tiles stored so the program knows which edges work with which other edges? Can it do arrangements other than 10x10?
  20. Re: Ship-Flipping for Evil Bricks Yep. Same way one can shatter a glass with sound. Find the resonant frequency of the material and just pour on the dB.
