  1. I'm in the process of starting a L.E.G.-esque campaign set in the early 1890's. The players have decided who they want to be (Victor Frankenstein, Annie Oakley, Rebecca Thatcher, Paul Bunyan, John Carter, and Quincey Morris) I'm running one shot openers for each of the characters individually - to help make certain everyone understands the system, their characters and the genre. It also gives them an opportunity to make changes before we begin the actual campaign (oops should've had ride etc). No problem Frankenstein vs. the Wolfman, John Carter of the Opera, Becky Thatcher and the Forty Thieves, Quincey Morris, Dragonslayer. Then I get to Annie Oakley and I'm totally blocked. Does anyone have any rough ideas for a short/quick pulp story I can run for Oakley: Even just a story title might be enough to snap me out of it. Thanks
  2. Re: Three years later... I've actually just done something similar to this recently (Two years later...). I had one of the NPC team members killed. It brought the Metro City Meta Human Task Force back together nicely and with a goal. It could work just as easily with any prominent NPC from the previous arc(s).
  3. Re: "Bag of Holding" Also the point cost for value of effect is outrageous.
  4. Re: Lasso's in Combat From Western Hero by Matt Forbeck A lariat can be used to perform a grab maneuver up to 15 inches away, a lariat never does any damage, except when used as a garotte.
  5. Re: Resistant Defences Aside from a Killing Attack, AVLD/NND, Does Body (or I suppose a normal NND/AVLD where the defense is Resitant Flash/Power defense [There might be a GM that allows that, I've never met one])- I can't think of a reason but if your GM is allowing AVLD Does Body Killing Attacks it's a pretty good reason to have resistant Flash and Power Defense (Probably Lack of Weakness as well).
  6. Re: VPPs and Active Point Limits Hmmm, as a GM I rarely use AP caps at all - prefering a give my players ranges for effects and then attempt to carfully review potential characters. In those campaigns where I do use firm AP caps, I would include the control cost in the AP value of the VPP. Consider it an additional versatility tax. I'm generally wary of VPPs, more so now than ever.
  7. Re: Ten Spider-Man Appearances That Will Never Hit Hollywood Wouldn't his foe be a mouse of some sort? Plus you'd have to replace spidey sense with Eidetic Memory - I don't even want to think about what he'd fling.
  8. Re: Force Field LImitation Question I chunk of our group are old timers (myself included) and still remember back when characteristics weren't allowed in frameworks (or perhaps back when we misunderstood the rules and so thought ...)
  9. Re: Force Field LImitation Question It could be built either way - It's going to depend a lot on play styles. At least one of our Champions GMs frowns on Stats in power frameworks especially when there is a clear alternative so in his game it would likely end up being a Force Field.
  10. Re: Combat skill levels That's a fairly broad question. Basically during each of a characters' phases they can opt to apply their combat skill levels to their DCV, OCV for an attack or some combination of the two so long as the total bonus applied does not exceed the total number of levels possessed and that the levels are only applied as appropriate (HtH levels for HtH attacks, DCV levels to DCV, Levels with Pistols to ... and so on). If you have or can make multiple attacks in a single phase, I believe you must choose which attacks your OCV bonuses will apply to but that you can opt to divide your bonus between attacks.
  11. Re: Measurement in HERO The 1" is actually completely irrelevant, since 1"=1hex=2meters you can really get away with any consistant measurment and call it a hex (25mm=1hex, 1 foot =1hex [if you're really large], etc).

  13. Re: How to build: Traffic Light Changer Snopes on this http://www.snopes.com/autos/law/strobe.asp. On the main topic - I'd agree that levels with Combat Driving, maybe also Shadowing and a few other skills, would be the most elegant build.
  14. Re: Question Regarding Justice Inc Main Book Campaign Book (no dice, probably removed for use) Hero Games postcard San Mateo Address in hex, place postage here in hex Generic player survey on back (rev 6/6/84)

  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I was actually thinking of the Safari's, not the dewightfully inferior Beach Boy cover
  17. Re: Material Science I would think it's the other way around - It would require an extremely high quality of window for a laser to pass through without transferring enough energy to melt the glass.
  18. Re: God of Prosperity? Off the top of my head If prosperity is considered a tangible thing in your world, then removing it from those who are prosperous without giving proper thanks and respect to the God of Prosperity and giving it to those who do. (For example Evil Godwin stole prosperity in the form of a crystal wine glass. Whoever drinks from it monthly gains Luck only effecting business transactions, fetch it and return it to the temple/give it to Good Evelynn who while poor still thanks the God for what she has.) Teach a village to fish or some other task that will allow them to become more prosperous. ( Obvious adventure hook: Evil Godwin wants the village to remain poor so that they will have to continue to do his bidding to survive and opposes your group first subtlely then more aggressively)

  21. Re: hitting that moving hex. If you're worried about it fora specific character (rather than in general), maybe DCV levels AoE hex to make the hex you're in harder to hit (may also nees UaA)
  22. Re: Extra Arms for Blocking I would generally go with extra levels, whatever you feel is limb appropriate. Extra speed only for XXX, is a can of bees I generally try to avoid.
