I would say it's up to you, really.  How narrowly-specific do you want your skills and knowledge to be? 
 
Sure, they are a bit different in the real world, but are they different enough to justify spending the same points all over again?  
 
Personally, I'd have no problem if someone handed me a character sheet with "TF: Skating" on it. 

Spartan (2004)
 
A look into the world of Covert Operations when a VIP's daughter is kidnapped.  Val Kilmer's finest role as a man who would do anything to carry out the mission.  Look for Clark Gregg showing you what Phil Coulson should have been.

WKRP in Cincinnati (1978-1982)
 
This hilarious sitcom not only had a great cast, but proved to be a showcase for Loni Anderson's talents.

I also started on v.1  I consider Buffy to be street level because no costumes, though rather than fighting "normal" criminals she fights monsters...so "Urban fantasy Hero"?

All my builds are 250 Points.  I started with the 1st Edition and love the challenge.

Clue (1985)
 
This comedy classic has great cast and a mystery who's ending you can guess, at least one of them.  The best movie based on a board game (it used to be the only one before Battleship).

The Cheap Detective (1978)
 
Peter Falk plays a Private Eye in Neil Simon's send up of The Maltese Falcon and Casablanca.  The cast is great with John Houseman, Abe Vigoda, Madeline Kahn, Vic Tayback, Marsha Mason, and Ann-Margret.

Everything I learned about the Golden Age came from Republic Serials.  A number of wartime ones would serve well as a bases for a Champions campaign.  The Even Mastermind who's headquarters is often hidden inside the Heroes based of operations (yes, that happened a lot), his evil henchmen led by Clayton Moore (unless he was a G-Man), all working to build the ultimate weapon (usually a death ray but sometimes a space ship) and the hero and his sidekick/love interest were all that were standing in the way of doom.
 
 

Even if the Defector is killed the heroes can capture a couple of VIPER agents to get a location from them.

Comic Book: The Movie (2004)
 
Mark Hamill wrote (with Futurama's Billy West) and Director this movie where he plays a teacher and comic book fan who's hired by a movie studio to promote a new movie based on a Golden Age Comic Book character at Comic Con.  Trouble begins when he finds a relative of the artist who created the Superhero  (played by Billy West).

The Great Race, also 1965
 
A period comedy wherein a competition is announced to race autos from New York to Paris.  Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, Natalie Wood (yum), Peter Falk, Ross Martin on loan from The Wild, Wild West, the longest and pie-iest pie fight on film (at the time, anyway), music by Henry Mancini, all directed by Blake Edwards.  One of my favorite movies of all time.

I remember the first time I saw the trailer.  It was 1980 in the Orange Cinedome waiting for The Empire Strikes Back.  They got me with the line the exchange "Are you the police?"  "No Ma'am, We're Musicians."

GREAT Show. One of my favorite series with characters you end up invested in. Lots of rewatchability at our house. The sci fi references are even funnier when you learn that Jonathan Frakes directed more than a few episodes.

Leverage (2008-2012)
 
Tim Hutton is a former insurance investigator who leads a team of criminals including a Grifter (Gina Bellman) a Thief (Beth Riesgraf), a Hacker (Aldis Hodge), and a Hitter (Christian Kane) who steal from corrupt corporate business people and politicians.  Great humor and tons of science fiction references.  

24 (2001-2010)
 
CTU Agent Jack Bauer saves the World over and over again in this TV Series where each episode is one hour in real time.  The finale has the best final words and image ever.  Jack even comes back in Life Another Day, a 12 episode season that covers one day in London, and before season seven there is a two hour movie called Redemption.  There are only a handful of characters you can really trust, and they are not the ones you think.
 
 

Twilight's Last Gleaming (1977)
 
A former General (Burt Lancaster) and three military convicts take over a nuclear missile control center and threatens the President (Charles During) with the launch of nine Titan missiles unless pays them $10 Million Dollars, reads a secret document on television, and allows himself to be used as a hostage.

Robert Shaw plays an Israeli Agent trying to stop a terrorist attack on the Super Bowl using the Goodyear Blimp.  Based on the book by Thomas Harris (Silence of the Lambs).
