  1. If you want to build it as a Martial Maneuver it could be an attack with the "Target Falls" element and the "Must Follow Grab" element. Season to taste with extra Damage Classes, OCV and DCV bonuses/penalties. The must follow grab gives it the "takes a bit longer" you mentioned.
  2. His explanation is pretty much him saying "I didn't mean it but I meant it". He further explains why a colleague bursting into tears when criticized is "bad for science" but doesn't retract his statement or its broad implication that ALL women are unprofessional and cry at the least provocation. Guy sounds like he wouldn't be able to have a professional relationship with someone of the opposite gender in any occupation.
  3. It's fairly common place among all high strength "Brick" characters.
  4. Or Jackie Mason just made a really good PER roll to see the hidden character. Using the gun didn't magically make the hidden character visible, but it did make it obvious which general direction the attack power was coming from.
  5. Don't hold up your poor communication as an excuse for yours when I was defending the cops I'm apparently not supposed to comment on. If I put this on an anticop page I would be praised. That's how it came across. EDIT: Your posted 2 responses to my comment. The first explained what you actually meant and showed that we were in agreement. The second post deconstructed my post and condescendingly informed me of things like restraining people being a "key job skill" , that and is what I took umbrage with and referred to as being lectured. Despite not being a police officer I am fully aware of the risks of dealing with domestic violence cases and most of the other stuff that had nothing to do with my post.
  6. No, but that's how that one comment I was responding to came across. I've seen comments just like it on "CopBlock" and "F* the PoPo" type pages. You said cops' attitudes are why wrestle when you can tase or shoot. There was no context about deescalating or using personal skills like you mention in your later explanation. Sorry for taking your statement at face value and daring to comment on police when I'm not one (I guess most of the people in this thread shouldn't be posting). It sounds like if someone else made the same comment you might have corrected them yourself. I feel like I'm getting scolded by a former cop, for defending cops.
  7. My brother is a deputy sheriff and I have many friends and family in with law enforcement history, I know most of what you said already. I was specifically responding to your statement of "why wrestle when you can taser or shoot them". A lot of idiots actual expect cops to know "karate". I know someone who was literally been asked why they pepper sprayed someone instead of fighting them. That's how your comment came off. Thanks for clarifying, but I didn't need a lecture.
  8. Unless the ninja has the loudest blowgun in the world that probably has at least partial IPE, I would guess "+¼ Makes an Obvious Power Inobvious to one Sense Group".
  9. While I agree about the over use of grenades and such, but implying they should wrestle people is just foolish. If a cop has to wrestle someone things have already gone horribly wrong and they are not in control of the situation. The can't watch for other attackers, they are more likely to get surprised from behind by another attacker or get hit with a weapon they didn't know the suspect had. You can't secure a scene or use your radio to communicate when you have both hands full fighting for your life. I'm not saying cops should taser everyone who doesn't instantly comply, but saying they should intentionally close with an opponent and join in hand to hand combat when it is not necessary is crazy.
  10. First of all you generally can't put Restrainable and Focus on the same Power without GM permission and a dang good reason. Second of all, Wolverines claws are not removable and thus are not Foci, period. Thirdly, not being able to use a Power that shoots out of your hand effectively when handcuffed does not make that Power Restrainable, That is simply part of choosing the Point of Origin for the Power. 6E1, pg 126: Wolverine could use his claws against some forms of restraint and not against others. Just like every other character with powers that come from their hands.
  11. Wolverine ' claws are not foci and are not worth any Focus or Restrainable Limitation. All Powers require a source point defined when bought, his claw's source point is his hands, just like Cyclops' beams source is his eyes.
  12. "Illusion the Power (wich includes making visible light) is overpowered by Darkness." That would be the Power Images, not Mental Illusions.
  13. My apologies to the OP, I was trying to give an example, not derail your thread.
  14. You both forgot the 1 point Killing Attack, STR doesn't add. I really need to look up that old thread...
  15. Who won Tuesday's match? I know I'm a little late but I figured the thread would be up through the day it's the match of.
  16. I don't know what's been going on in other threads, but calling someone you are arguing with "son" is pretty dang condescending.
  17. The source of Force TK should only be obvious to the Force Sensitive,
  18. This. Powers have to be percievable by multiple SENSES and how senses work are outlined in the rules. Because I told you so is not really in keeping with the rules and would be pointlessly annoying.
  19. You say the build is "probably flawed" in your first paragraph so of course people are going to try to help you "fix" it, YOU said t here was something wrong with it. Also, if someone isn't sure what exactly your build is supposed to do they are going to ask. Looking at the mechanics of a power build don't always convey the intent and if they think from your description that your build does something other than what you built they are going to give suggestions. This is not berating you or saying you did something wrong, it is merely sharing how they would have done it, and theh might not even understand your actual intent. There are multiple ways to build anything in Hero. I've seen contradicting write-ups for a fork. That's what we do here, discuss the game and power builds and argue about rules. "Wait, what's that supposed to do?" (doesn't wait for answer) "I'd do this instead" is not a personal attack.
  20. Christopher, Scott Baker's post already proves your point about the values being meant for heroic level games wrong. To keep insisting it is so is blatantly lying for no reason in the face of obvious facts that disprove you. Your advice would be fine advice if you just stopped making stuff up to prove your point and presented it as an opinion. That has been my only point this whole time.
  21. My only problem with that is that Bubbles would love the show. It should be Buttercup complaining about the show being too girly or Blossom calling it dumb.
  22. And then all the mundane people can punch and kick through it too. Great solution. Now a handgun can punch through a tank, weee! Point is, it is one option, but it isn't THE ONLY OPTION which you keep presenting it as. Plus you keep justifying your advice with the blatant lie that the defensive values for objects were meant for Heroic level games even though the values were similar in early editions of Champions before is was a generic system that including Heroic level games at all. You want to offer advice with how you do it? Awesome, do that. But stop presenting your advice as the "right way" to deal with a "problem" many of us don't have and stop supporting it with facts you made up.
  23. Which of those abilities you listed do you not know how to make?
