Strafe maneuver penalties
6e2 pgs 88-89 clearly spell out that someone who is performing a Strafe maneuver suffers a -2 DCV penalty and -(VEL/6m) OCV penalty. Aside from the range modifier, these are the only Strafe penalties mentioned in the cited pages. (i.e. There is no mention of DMCV or OMCV penalties.) By comparison, 6e2 pgs 75-76 clearly spell out DCV/OCV AND DMCV/OMCV penalties for Multiple Attack. Thus, I tend to read RAW regarding Strafe to mean there are no DMCV or OMCV penalties, as there were none spelled out for Strafe like there were for Multiple Attack. Assuming the usual 'unless the GM rules otherwise' disclaimer, would you kindly confirm that individuals do not, per RAW, …

Constant powers with Delayed Effect
6e1 states that a character with a Delayed Effect Power pays the END cost when the Power is prepared, not when it is activated (pg 332). How does this apply if the Power is Constant and would normally cost END to maintain?

Multiform
I'm sure the answer is in the book but I sure can't find it. Character purchases Multiform with the limitation cost end only to change form. If the character is knocked out during a combat would the revert to their natural form or would the remain in the form that they have assumed?

Explosion & Hole in the Middle
6E1 p. 323 1) If I buy an AoE explosion attack, No Range, Hole in the Middle, does the explosion still count the initial 2m area (the starting 2m area the attacker is standing in)? In other words, does the fact that I bought hole in the middle (an advantage) cause some of the explosion to be lost, or does the explosion only start counting from the point past the hole? I would assume the latter, since it seems strange to get penalized by an advantage, but I want to be sure. 2) Regardless of the above, I'm trying to figure out exactly how explosion drop-off is calculated. "With an Explosion, the full effect of the base power occurs at the target point and 2m b…

Growth vs Shrinking
At one point in the Legion of Superheroes, Shrinking Violet's power was described as actually the ability to grow to human height from the nomal Imskian height of 1". While I can create this in Hero 6th ed, I have a problem when she uses her growth in that she now has a rather large area of effect HTH attack 4m, an extreme reach, and a huge amount of running. Some ideas I thought about and rejected: Complication seems out since this only happens when she uses her powers. It would set a bad precedent to have a side effect cancel out a complication. If its GM fiat, then the player is paying a huge amount of points for very little in return. So it would seem to be…

Penetrating Killing Attack
Hi Steve, I was hoping you could give me some clarification on how the following power (on pg. 330 of 6E1) would actually play out in game. Acid Mini-Grenade: RKA 1 point, Penetrating (x2; +1), Damage Over Time (6 damage increments, damage occurs every Segment, can be negated by washing off the acid; +4) (30 Active Points); OAF (-1), Range Based On STR (-1/4), 5 Charges (-3/4). Total cost: 10 points. How would a 1 point Killing Attack do any Penetrating? Since no dice are rolled and the result is assumed to be a 1, wouldn't the "Body of The Dice" be 0? I see on the description of Penetrating that it says it does 1 BODY but this seems to contrast what is sa…

Increasing Multipower Reserve after creatgion
Greetings, Once play has begun, can a player use experience points to increase the character's multipower reserve? For example, if the multipower was bought with a 60 point reserve during creation, could it be increased as the character became more experienced? I'm trying to mimic a character who either by means of training or simply sheer practice becomes more powerful in the powers in the multipower. Thank you.

Duplicating duplicates
Steve Saw your response to query number one. Very succinct! :-) Allow me to try another way. If a hero can produce 8 duplicates, is there a way, within the rules, to allow, for example, the third duplicate to originate from the second duplicate rather than from the base character?? There are obvious advantages to this, I suggested allowing an advantage of a similar cost to ranged but that would not be RAW. Doc

Duplicating Duplicates
In another thread, another person wanted to stimulate a duplicate which can also divide into another duplicate. I suggested buying Ranged and Ranged Recombine to stimulate via the magic of special effects that effect. Would you alowe Ranged on Duplication, or something like Ranged Division (the division counterpart if Ranged Recombine)?

How to build a power that is dispelled by a special effect
I assume it's simply a Limited Power effect to have, say, a defense power that immediately turns off if a particular Special Effect hits it? For example, a Barkskin power that is immediately dispelled when subjected to a Fire based attack? If I wanted to give an attack Armor Piercing, I assume the cleanest way would be to build it in two halves, and have the second half just not apply to that Special Effect? Thank you for all you do on here!

Character can choose between two rolls?
So, using the Champions Complete Rulebook, under "Requires a Roll" is the option for "Character can choose between two rolls". Searching the forums, this seems to indicate that this is between two skill or characteristic rolls which doesn't seem to add up since the two skill rolls seemed based on the same characteristic. For example, choosing between Acrobatics and Breakfall for a Parkour power. Would this not be the same roll? Is this based on the various modifiers? I'm a bit confused...? Appreciate any input.

Combined Attacks
I'm a bit fuzzy on how Combined Attacks work, so I thought I'd ask some questions. A) If I have a Mentalist that has Mind Control not in a power framework and a Mind Blast in a power framework, can I use them together in a Combined Attack? If I have an AoE attack and a non-AoE attack, can I use them together in a Combined Attack, assuming I have a single target? Due to using an AoE attack, is the only legal target a space? If I can target a character, due to having only one attack roll, I would assume the AoE attack has to be against the DCV of the target. Thank you for any help!

Change Environment: requiring a roll vs. penalties only
Hi Steve, I'm discovering that I may have some confusion about Change Environment. One of the classic uses for Change Environment is making a slippery spot, per the Ice Sheet example in 6e1; characters entering the ice sheet area on foot have to make a DEX Roll at the appropriate penalty or fall, slip, slide in a straight line, or similar. However, there's another use for Change Environment, which is simply applying penalties without necessarily requiring a roll. For instance, using Change Environment on a lock to provide a penalty to a character's Lockpicking Skill, or using Change Environment to create a "low mana" area (-5 penalty to all Magic Skill roll…

Foci, Extra Time, and Real Armor
Hello. I'm trying to build a character that has, in essence, a power suit that takes extra time to get in. Is it fair to apply the Extra Time to Activate Limitation to all stats acquired via wearing the suit if it takes Extra Time to put it on, but not to activate each individual power? Would it be recommended to use Real Armor instead? And would either limitation also apply to a Power Framework of attacks granted by the Focus? Thank you!

Healing and incremental cost
Hello, does the incremental cost rule of adjustment powers apply to healing/simplified healing? for example if i have Healing BODY and roll for 5 CP that after halving gets to 2.5 CP do i heal 3 BODY with rounding or 2? How about simplified healing and rounding? Thank you!

Playing An AI Able to Possess Vehicles & Robots
Hey there ! Along with one of the current post, I am totally wondering if that is legal within the system to : 1/ Let a player build an AI to play 2/ Have this AI get some powers to actually use "Possession" on Vehicles or Robots 3/ Have This AI use a Multiform in a VPP in order to simulate a sort of Transformer/Transmatron, whatever you call it, to actually create the bodies he wants (keep in mind that would always be a PC) Regards and happy new yaer !

Cost of Attacks vs. Susceptibilities
This is based on a longer discussion in this thread. I hesitated to ask it here because I recognize it gets heavily into GM Subjectivity Territory. But I think it would be helpful to get a sense of what RAW assumes as a baseline. Say a character ("the target") has a Susceptibility to a very common substance that is normally harmless, like water. Another character ("the attacker") learning of this Susceptibility, wants to start carrying a squirt gun. Or even something more basic like a thermos of water. Assuming a superheroic game where everyone pays points for everything, does RAW generally assume: A. The attacker must pay points for the water, based on ho…

Dispeling Summoned Creatures
6e1 p290 discusses using Dispel to banish a Summoned being. Having to overcome the AP of the Summon (which is based partly on the being's point total) is clear enough. But when building the Dispel itself, is listing "Dispel Summon" sufficient to make the power work against any type of Summoned creature? Basically I'm trying to figure out if "Vs. Any Summoned Creature" is a Variable Advantage, or if that's the baseline and "Only Works Against [specific Type]" would be a Limitation? Subject to standard "Unless the GM rules otherwise..." disclaimers of course.

Simplified Healing - Followup
Steve, Further questions about simplified Healing. Your answer only makes sense to me if it's supposed to be read that the halving only applies to the maximum you can heal. If it applies to the effect roll as well, I'm concerned. If I don't use simplified healing, and I'm healing body, here's what I get for healing amounts: 1 - 1 2 - 1 3 - 2 4 - 2 5 - 3 6 - 3 This implies to me that the maximum healing should be 3 per die. If I use Simplified Healing (without halving the effect roll), I would get: 1 - 0 2-5 - 1 6 - 2 This implies to me that the maximum healing should be 2 per die, but if I use the maximum as rolled, it would be 6. …

Having to use an Advantage-why?
I don't get this in 6th ed. If I have a power with an Advantage, why cannot I just decide not to use it. I've paid the points. I'm using the power at a lower level because of the Advantage. Doesn't make sense to me. Especially for super heroes or magic, where the small tweaking of powers is SO genre.

Simplified Healing: halved with STUN and/or BODY?
Hi Steve, is Simplified Healing an exception to the halving of Adjustment Powers when applied to STUN and/or BODY? I know that standard Healing is, but the examples under Simplified Healing specify that the maximum STUN and BODY that can be healed are equal to the maximum that can be rolled on the dice. Thanks!

STR min, charges and END
Hello, After reading some posts i got really confused about powers that have charges and the "STR minimum" limitation but also the "STR does not add damage" one, do they cost END to use? What about multiple uses of them in a phase what is their cost in END? Thank you!
