Hello everyone, It is with great regret that I report that the gentleman with the username DJWebb2 passed away last week. It was very sudden and caught his friends and family by complete surprise. I have been unable to find out the specifics, but he had been suffering from severe health problems in the year leading up to his death. I hoped to run a final game for him before he left to move to another state, but unfortunately I received the news 2 days before the scheduled game. Anyways, I just though you all should be notified of this.

I'm hoping some AD&D old-timers out there can help me with something. I have this vivid memory from when I was a kid playing AD&D in the early 80s and getting my hands on a copy of S3: Expedition to the Barrier Peaks. I distinctly recall the illustrations that were to be shown to the players, and many of them showed alien writing on the walls, on devices, and so forth. I remember applying basic substitution cypher cracking methods (frequency tables) to translate all the alien writing. Somewhere along the way I lost or gave away all my old AD&D modules, so I no longer own my original copy. But here's the thing: some years ago I bought the S1-4 "supe…

One of the things that I tend to do for my characters is keep a theme song in mind. If nothing else, it helps me keep the general mindset/energy of the character in mind and I can play it to quickly get into character. For the games that I'm currently playing. Star Wars: Mercenaries (set 5 ABY, Legends continuity) Cyrene Veda - Human (Mandalorian) Historian and Pilot Mostly for her frustration at what she sees as a pattern of revisionist history by every faction that comes to power. The Article At Seattle Met Saw this posted on Facebook and thought I'd pass it along. While not a roleplaying game, M:TG was certainly inspired by RPGs, and owes a great deal of its success to RPGers who took the game to heart and made it the biggest success in gaming since--well, since Dungeons & Dragons. There it is for anyone who's interested.

Hello, being a player since the 90s, I tried several games. But lately for the first time I watched runequest. I would love to read your opinions on the game, its strengths and weaknesses. For my part the hit points on the hit location seduce me. Steph

I mentioned this in another thread, but thought I'd put it here for all to see. For those of you who loved the Rifts setting but couldn't stand the wildly-unbalanced mechanics, Hero alum Sean Fannon has republished Rifts for the Savage Worlds system. Wired has a good review: https://www.wired.com/2017/05/geeks-guide-rifts/ I haven't picked up the book(s) myself yet (lack of funds), but I got to play a game at a convention a few months ago and it was a hoot. And I've heard several people say it captures the feel of the original Rifts but with a smooth, playable system.

Anyone here into Traveller, any era? Any system? I think the classic traveller setting is wonderfully made and intricate but tends to drive players to 'the frontier' for adventure. So much of the core doesn't get used as much even if there's a lot of room for adventures (often of a criminal nature) in the "civilized" regions. I liked the 2300 setting even if it wasn't technically traveller. But it was originally called traveller 2300. I think it has some of the best aliens ever designed for a sfrpg. Traveller interstellar wars is a good setting but apparently dead as sjg lost the traveller license. Traveller TNE has a lot of potential and is largely under…
