Would your character...

Carried over from the NGD forum discussion of if there is a Playboy Magazine full of superheroines in the Champions Universe, I pose the magic question...

If Playboy or Playgirl came to your (realtively human) character and offered a great deal of money to appear in their magazine Nude (but for maybe a few heroic accoutrements), would they?

Starguard -- absolutely not.

Baron von Darien -- *unleashes hideous PRE attack on questioner merely for having dared to ask*

Dr. Pain -- "No nudity, but hey, you want the loincloth thing, I can do that. I mean, I was a pro wrestler, for pete's sake!" *does muscle flex pose*

Re: Would your character...

3 No's and a Yes here.

Uncle Slam would not. He's a man of old-fashioned values. While he would never make a sexist statement in his life, he would certainly think "This should have begun and ended with pinup-girls in small outfits." Men should never have gotten into the act and women should never go nude except in private.

Audra Blue would not. She's too private a person. She combs the internet for data and has found a few mock-ups of superheroine photos as well as fan fiction about her team mates. She would never contribute to this craziness.

Anthem would not. She's a modest girl and aspires to be a role model to the best of her ability.

Lucretia spent two years undercover and hooked on drugs. There are photos of her circulating doing things for cash and drugs that would (and will) surprise the other heroes when they find them some day. She wouldn't post now, but likely the photos will make it to publication some day (especially if she becomes a household name, which is less likely).

My three current favorites respond:

Darknight (teleporting supernatural avenger type):

Would think about it for a few seconds, then say, "No," and fade away into the night.

Avalon (idealistic Ukrainian flying speedster energy projector):

Would consider it a fun and whimsical thing to do, and would cheerfully pose. She'd even buy copies of the magazine to give to her friends. But she'd wear her mask for the photo shoot (secret ID).

Dr. Redgrave (super-scientist Dr. Octopus type):

Would glare at the intruder briefly, then buzz for security to come and escort them out of the building.

Re: Would your character...

Speaking for the PC's in the campaign I GM...

Sting doesn't meet the "relatively human" boilerplate, being his description reads "Thok from "Classic Enemies", with dragonfly-style wings and a 'Mortal Kombat' ninja suit".

The Disruptor is a 59-year-old male with a COM of zero (0) and a sour attitude. Take a guess

Oamen *probably* wouldn't, unless there was some way to convince him that doing so would somehow hurt PRIMUS (Hatred of PRIMUS, Very Common/EGO).

Hexadecimal actually has been offered to do so, and refused. I as GM asked her this during an "interview" as part of our last session -- the PC's were interviewed by Villainy Unbound and the interviewer told her she had risen from 40th to 5th on the list readers would like to see 'featured'. She replied that just because she's a villain now doesn't mean she's changed her opinion that it's demeaning -- and the fact that the women do it willing, are paid well, etc. just makes it more disgusting in her opinion.

Re: Would your character...

I've got too many characters to really give a complete list so here are so high spots.

Knighthawk:Weapon Master Martial artist:Couldn't he's a teenager and wouldn't, It isn't "Ninja Like" :)

Nexus:30 com Mistress of Time and Space. She would and happily being somewhat of an exhibitionist.

Predator:Is a Tigra type felinoid human like enough?

Nova Cord:Not human enough in her Heroic state and in her human form it would be beneath her dignity.

Starguard:Genetically eingineered warrior clone:Can't, Sie's a child

Lotus:Mutant "Martial Artist" can't, she's a minor and would be baffled by the question.

Fenris:Altered Wolf Not human enough

Andromeda:Fourth Reich Brick from another dimesion:Wouldn't mind morally but would need a compelling reason to take the time.

Tao:Engineered composite being. Has no real nudity taboo so wouldn't mind.

Genesis:Nature spirit, can't he's a minor and not human enough

Eve:Nanotech robot. Don't know if she could qualify as "Human enough" and she is technically a minor (legally though her body looks mature).

Shidoku:Mutant Martial Artist. Absolutely For enough cash, she'd pose for Hustler with another girl.

Valkeyrie:Mutant Brick. No way in God's Green Earth. She's so shy she'd probably be blushing for three weeks after the Interveiw.

Ran:Mutant martial artists/swordswomen Never. It would be beneath her.

Keiko:Ch'i Power Martial Artist. Has no problems with her body, but wouldn't see the point unless it was for a good cause like charity.

Velocity:Mutant Speedster Too shy (finds her skintight costume rather embarrasing) and is a minor.

Elastica:Mutant Stretcher Sure, she was a performance artist and has posed nude before. A little shy about her body since her powers emerged and would consider this a step toward getting over it.

There are others but those are the characters off the top of my head.

Re: Would your character...

Guardian - no, but not because she has a problem with it. She's a model in her secret identity, so she couldn't very well bare all without a Secret ID problem. Hide the face all you want, her body has been well-photographed. She wears a costume that is not skin tight for similar reasons.

Puritan - would love it. Though it would ruin her rep and name, so she probably wouldn't.

Rush - is a minor, so can't. Also, couldn't sit still long enough for them to photograph her if it were legal.

Storm Ravyn / Fyre Ravyn / Wynter Ravyn / Greyravyn: Same character, different people - Storm Ravyn wouldn't, also being too hyperactive to sit still long enough. Greyravyn would in a heartbeat, and probably for free, too. Hardcore? No problem. She's very uninhibited. Wynter Ravyn would not. And would be a bit rude about it, too. She wouldn't have a big problem with it, she's just very sharpspoken and tactless. Fyre Ravyn wouldn't, but would be delighted to learn about budoir photography, as the person she loves can't ever see her with his own eyes.

Checkmate - would raise an eyebrow, give a millimetric smile, and shake his head. "If you can convince my wife, then I might consider it."

The Wall - would chuckle and shake his head, as guys that are nearly as wide as they are tall aren't usually considered all that sexy, even if it is all muscle.

Re: Would your character...

Caress (skin contact mind controlling supervillianess): Only if she thought it would get enough circulation that men would come up to her on the street to ask her to autograph it (whom she could then offer a kiss to and turn into her willing slaves).

Karma (teleporting jewel-thief/vigilante): Why not, as long as she can keep her mask on, and she's payed well. Perhaps wearing one of those really expensive necklaces...

Fore Eyes: [blush] "Really? Me? Are you sure? How about I take your number and think about it?"

Hardball: "Full Monty? No. However anything less than that is fine. You're 'readers' don't mind scars do they?"

Ghost Dancer: "Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to decline"

Arachne (6 arms, otherwise normal): Been there, Done that, Do it for a living (God bless Super-fetishists).

Re: Would your character...

Blackcat - absolutely not. She is of the opinion that such things are generally degrading (she wears close to a fullbody suit as a hero).

Ballistic would comment about the incongruity of a powered armor character posing nude (given he has a public ID so no problems there) and then likely take off his helmet, cast his "blessing of aphrodite spell" (putting all 60 points of his magic pool into +120 comliness) flirt with the lady for a bit and then turn them down.

Re: Would your character...

Warp: Is secretly multi-billionaire playboy Daniel Stone. Money would not be an enticement for him to risk revealing his secret identity.

Spectrum: Is a colonel in the United States Airforce and a public hero. Would not be compatible with his duties and image.

Mystic: His secret id is an mildly succesful author of modern fantasy. If he does "pose", what actually will be seen is an illusion conjured up by him.

Peacekeeper's Response: The Urthquar do not wear clothing, and their genders do not correspond to human genders. Peacekeeper is a warrior drone, and as such has no reproductive organs of any sort. The Urthquar are also blue, hairless, have three eyes with no eyelids, no ears, and no nose.

Iron Demon's Response: Contemplates killing the idiot who asked him this. Do you even understand the concept of a SECRET identity? Huh? Do ya punk?

BattlePrincess Ao: Was Playmate of the Year (and Miss August) in 1994, and has several calanders, picture books, videos, and dvds that feature her in "all her glory". There is even a "bootleg video" of a "private encounter" that she "didn't know was being taped" available. And stop asking who owns the fake company that released the video. They have no relation to BattleBusiness or the BattlePrincess Ao media empire.

Shamrock: is a NUN. Do you have any shame at all? Asking a nun to pose nude for a magazine, really. It's disgraceul, that's what it is.

The Rampaging Razorback: is a giant pig man. Anyone who wants to see him nude should seek therapy immediately. Though it's worth noting that the first thing Razorback's teammates gave him was a pair of briefs made from unstable molecules. The free-swinging manhood of a nine foot tall pig man is...distracting.

Re: Would your character...

Isgerd, the Valkyrie with 50 strength, would hurl the enquirer as far as she could with out seriously hurting him, then spend time visiting him in the hospital while he recovers. Being from the Norse culture where certain things are viewed differently, she would be indignant, which explains her initial reaction. But trying to acculturate herself to 20th/21st century mores in the U.S. where she now lives, she would be in a dilemma, being told, I'm certain by the enquirer, that she is considered very attractive by the readers. However, learning from other females around her that it is demeaning, she would go back to her original stand and refuse.

Of my other characters, Chatra, the Yamamara shapeshifter, who is already rich, would shut the door in the enquirer's face.

Jade, my golden age martial artist, who is not rich, would be motified.

Belinda Wellington, whose father is a senator, would most certainly not.

Starblaze's wife, Crushette

Menagerie:Expose herself for the lusts of...baselines? No way. Though the idea of tormenting them with what they could never have would be interesting. The enquierer would likely end up covered in bee stings in any event.

Pinnacle:Worked as fitness model and live nude studies model before her powers emerged so the idea wouldn't be repellant. She'd consider her position as a role model and likely politely turn the offer down, unless it was for some charity.

Stopwatch:Is a minor and thus not eligable.

Gaia:Doesn't wear clothing to begin with so that's not a problem but wouldn't have time for such foolishness.

I hardly ever get to be a player but...

Apex: Whoever was asking would get a flummoxed expression, followed by a sputtering "You've GOT to be kidding me." If informed they were not kidding, a firm lecture on how super heroes are role models would soon be on its way.

Recluse: As the name implies, not the social type. Would definitely decline.

Wildcard: "Wear next to nothing for cash? MMmmm, this IS Atlantic City..."

Probably one of my own PCs who'd consider it, then again, he's a nut bar so a coin toss would be in order.

Re: Would your character...

Special Agent Trent: He would use "it would reflect poorly on the Bureau" as an excuse to refuse.

Icefox (ninja-esque MA with minor ice powers): Would be caught completely off-guard, and would refuse once he regained his composure--politely, and thanking the questioner for the implied compliment.

Golem (shapeshifter): "...You realize that, technically, I'm naked NOW." (it's so inconvenient to wear real clothing when it's only going to get damaged or abandoned) Actually, Golem might consider it, seeing as how he'd probably use a form that no one would recognize and that he wouldn't have to use again.

The Wraith: Would turn invisible/desolid without comment.

For the most part, I wouldn't be comfortable with this, and that aspect of me is also a part of my characters.

FtF, I'd say the same. PBeM, it could be n interesting side event.

(Only two female player characters I ever fully wrote up, but sadly never got to play:)

Smoke and Mirrors: Is a living program, but generally interacts with humans as a beautiful woman: Would do so. Wouldn't know WHY, but it's something that got put into her code as wishful thinking by one of her designers (which is also why she thinks of herself as a she).

Firebird: Well, not if she talked it over with her 'aunt'; the woman who brought her up is a little prudish. Since her species (Phoenix) is (technically) asexual, she probably wouldn't mind it as of herself.

(male PC's, assuming equivalent):

Flippant : Probably not. He doesn't have a problem with the idea, himself, but as a sanctioned hero with a secret ID... not a good call.

Wraith : Sure. He's already a minor celebrity, and not mainstream, and it would be an experience

Phoenix: Now that her body's been modified to be anatomically correct, sure. Unless she's over-ruled by her creators' management team, of course (she's a full-body cyborg, changed by private industry as a publicity piece and technology showcase).

Masked Dragon: Considering that she dresses much the same way as Kekko Kamen and fights in the XWF so attired, of course. Her other self (she has Dormancy 5, she's almost two seperate people) would say "No chance."

Princess Dawn: A Las Vegas entertainer already, she'd at least consider it seriously, and wolud most likely say yes.

Blue Fire: She'd probably say yes. She's not all that shy.

Rose: She operates in the 1920s, they didn't have Playboy back then :)

Nightside: Why not? Could be fun, and money's always nice

Shellrider: Has a secret ID, and she's already fabulously rich.

"Red": She'd say yes. Her boyfriend might persuade her otherwise.

"Wilma": A cave girl. She doesn't understand money, photos, or nudity taboos. Get the concpet across and she'd say yes.

Gem: Would probably say yes, though the fact that roughly 1/5 of her skin area is covered with jewellery that's been *nailed* into place on her, only a very kinky magazine would be likely to approach her.

Liane: She's only 13 :)

I think that's all the superhero types i'm currently playing.

Nova - would gladly accept, and donate most of the gains for charity (when he wants some cash, he can always Transform some gold from thin air...). While making the photo service, actively trying to get the phone numbers of as many as he can of the gorgeous models he's likely to meet.

Re: Would your character...

Mask of Justice: Would perform a civilian arrest of this pornographer (who obviously didn't read up on the legal codes of the 1930s before hopping in the time machine.) After all, he's the kind of fellow who would never think of using his powers to see women naked, even though it would be the first thing *I'd* do with them.

Rock Bottom: "The money goes to charity, right?" He may be a statue, but he's a very anatomically correct statue, so it might sell magazines.

Calculus: "There are some things that were meant to be kept secret. This is one of them. You were never here, I never talked to you, and this idea never entered your head. Do I make myself clear?"

Kira Midori: "I don't think that would be appropriate for a police officer. And you are very very lucky I don't have mind control powers."

Talion: "This is some kind of cruel trick, isn't it? I know perfectly well no one wants to see me naked. Particularly women. You probably don't even actually work for Playgirl." If somehow he were persuaded to pose, there would be some sort of accidents that would make the photos unusable, and the company that owns Playgirl would go broke so their check would be worthless.
