It takes the awesomeness of ice cream and root beer, and combines them into a fizzy, diluted mess.[/quote'] It's awesome for the first few minutes, before it becomes the fizzy, diluted mess. Until then it's a bit like vanilla ice cream with fizzy root beer topping.
Logan D. Hurricanes
Re: Musings on Random Musings I just love the idea that other countries are eating horse ice cream, musk Life Savers, pickled herring, fish eye balls, menudo...and our revolting cuisine is root beer. archermoo
Re: Musings on Random Musings Much coolness! Keri and I are getting ready to buy a new home from KB. We've got a lot hold down right now, and go in on Thursday to sign a contract and trade the check we gave them for a cashiers check. On the other hand, the house won't be ready until Septemberish. Well, it's official. Or at least as official as it will be until the house is done and we can close. We have a contract on a brand new house signed. Our real estate agent even earned her cut by negotiating a $10,000 credit for upgrades that we get to pick. On top of their current "sale" which includes a $20,000 price reduction and a credit of 6% of the sale price towards closing costs. Those last two incentives normally require going through their lender, but we might be able to get them decoupled so that we can use them going through Keri's brother for the loan. Either way it should be a 30 year fixed rate that we can afford, for a house that is big enough for us to live in and raise a family in. And since we've already got the bun in the oven that's kind of nice. The house is due around the first half of September. The kid is due the first half of November. SteveZilla
Re: Musings on Random Musings Most of the Irish that I've met (well, and talked to about it) are revolted by root beer. An exception being one of Keri's cousins, who quite likes the stuff. For a while Keri was doing some informal research that seemed to be showing that people generally liked either Dr. Pepper or Root Beer, but not both. I blew that one for her, as I quite like both. I like Dr. Pepper. And I've only had one brand of rootbeer that I liked -- Frostie. A&W is tolerable. Barq's may have bite but I found it to be bad. Though I don't like it as much any more. Perhaps because they switched (like all other US sodas) from sugar to High Fructose Corn Syrup (according to Wikipedia).
SteveZilla
Re: Musings on Random Musings I've never encountered a non-USer who liked root beer. Most Europeans I've talked to who've tried it have expressed profane amazement that it could be considered a beverage. I could say the same about those who like warm beer. lemming
Re: Musings on Random Musings I could say the same about those who like warm beer. It's not ice cold, but it's still colder than room temp. And pretty damn tasty.
tkdguy
Re: Musings on Random Musings Compelling evidence as to why choosing titles is important. Agreed. Here's an e-mail I got recently: All of these are legitimate companies that didn't spend quite enough time considering how their web site names might appear --- and be misread. 1. Who Represents is where you can find the name of the agent that represents any celebrity. www.whorepresents.com 2. Experts Exchange is a knowledge base where programmers can exchange advice and views. www.expertsexchange.com 3. Looking for a pen? Look no further than Pen Island. www.penisland.net 4. Need a therapist? Try Therapist Finder. http://www.therapistfinder.com 5. There's the Italian Power Generator Company. www.powergenitalia.com 6. And don't forget the Mole Station Native Nursery in New South Wales. www.molestationnursery.com 7. If you're looking for IP computer software, there's always www.ipanywhere.com 8. The designers at Speed of Art await you at their wacky Web site. www.speedofart.com

archermoo
Re: Musings on Random Musings I could say the same about those who like warm beer. As Lemming pointed out, it isn't that non-Americans drink warm beer. They drink "cellar temperature" beer. Much cooler than room temp, though not as cold as 'frig temperature. I don't like any beer, at any temp, but I like good ciders at cellar temp. The not so good ones? Yeah, go ahead and get 'em colder. It helps hide the flavour. Cancer
Re: Musings on Random Musings Even Europeans will agree, though, that when it's 39 C (102 F), this "cellar temperature" beverage nonsense is not all it's cracked up to be. Most sodas and water I like ice cold (as in I put ice in them even if they've been in the 'fridge), though I prefer Ginger {ale, beer, brew} at cellar temp.
