death tribble
My father lived with it for 25 years including dialysis and a transplant. It is survivable.

Cancer
Collie has been active for his Billy vs Snakeman village, but yeah, it's been a while since he's been here. Dunno. Mom is 78, and I suspect she is resigned to dying soon.

Mom is 78, and I suspect she is resigned to dying soon. As long as he's active somewhere. Some of his dialysis stories are awful.
L. Marcus
He certainly isn't among the luckier dialysis patients.
tkdguy
Wow. Effective 2015, the American Astronomical Society's journals (Astronomical Journal, Astrophysical Journal, Astrophysical Journal Letters (ApJL), and Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series (ApJS), will be digital only. No more paper versions. All those ApJ's, soon to be ashes. What a waste!
Cancer
Well, that pic is from the 2003 bushfire that destroyed a bunch of Mt Stromlo Observatory in Australia.
tkdguy
Okay, hoping all the journals don't end up the same way.
Old Man
Having spent one summer trying to recover irreplaceable astronomical data from disintegrating 9-track tape, I always wonder if not making hardcopies is such a good idea.
Cancer
The old plate stacks are better preserved than a lot of the data from the digital age.

BlueCloud2k2
Some day my son will find my old SLR from highschool and say, "daddy, where's the memory card slot for this old camera?"
BlueCloud2k2
Death Tribble Posted Today, 10:06 AM Someone has done a Friday 13th stunt that could have got people killed. They dressed up as Jason from the Friday 13th films and went after people with a chainsaw. How they did not end up shot is a real wonder. How the hell did they not get arrested for that!? WTF!? BlueCloud2k2
This is the prank Again I say, "How the f*** did they not get arrested for that?" The guy with the chainsaw wasn't just lucky he didn't get shot for that stunt, but that he didn't trip and fall with the chainsaw.
bigbywolfe
Again I say, "How the f*** did they not get arrested for that?" The guy with the chainsaw wasn't just lucky he didn't get shot for that stunt, but that he didn't trip and fall with the chainsaw. It probably didn't have a functioning chain on it. He was just revving the engine. Still, it's kind of too bad he didn't get shot and end up in the Stupid Criminal thread instead... tkdguy
Djokovic beats Federer in 5 sets in Men's Final. Big relief for the former who has had trouble in finals of late. Djokovic needed the win more than Federer, even though the latter has had a longer "drought" in Grand Slams. Good match. Somehow, I knew it would last five sets. death tribble
OK, I am old and boring, so I need an explanation for why when you do a web image search for "rocket skunk" you get so many images of marijuana plants. Skunk is one of the street names for marijauna at least on this side of the pond.
Lawnmower Boy
Skunk is one of the street names for marijauna at least on this side of the pond. ...For reasons which will become apparent in an olfactory context.
