Old Man
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread That's neat. ^ v ^ How old is he, now? Eight months. He's also getting his first teeth and is on the verge of being able to stand by himself. It's really awesome, but I still haven't forgotten how nightmarish the first three months were. AliceTheOwl
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Cool. ^ v ^ We had our friends over the other night to watch a movie with their 11-month-old. He's walked a few steps, but most of his verbalizations consisted of howling at the top of his lungs. The cats were . . . displeased. Old Man
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread You think the cats are displeased now, wait till the kid's old enough to be able to catch them.

Cat's don't coddle. My brother learned that the hard way.
AliceTheOwl
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Heh. They were most alarmed to see the small, loud human crawling after them, and stayed hidden in the bedroom most of the evening. This, of course, made the small human howl more loudly, because he just wanted to touch the kitty.

Cancer
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread yeah - kids forget five of the six ends are pointy. And if the cat's a Manx (the cat we had when our kids were born), then the non-pointy end isn't there.
Old Man
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Well, my kid's not crawling yet, but he does scoot. I need to babyproof the apartment. Time is running out.
Cancer
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread That's for sure. Do it this weekend. One of ours went from scooting to crawling in less than a week.
L. Marcus
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I apparently crawled and stood up by myself on the very same occasion. Freaked my mom.
AliceTheOwl
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread My brother-in-law (married to my oldest sister), apparently, started walking before he ever crawled as an infant. I'm told his parents brought him in to the doctor for a regular check-up, and he asked when Mike started crawling. They replied he didn't, but that he was walking. The doctor made them prove it, so they set Mike on the floor, and, sure enough, he started walking around the office. The doctor made him sit, then watched Mike climb to his feet to toddle around some more.

In fact we're kind of expecting our kid to do that since he hates being on his tummy and is already very good at standing. The scooting was unexpected. And the last time he did it he had unexpected diaper traction and went over backwards, landing on the back of his head on the tile... AliceTheOwl
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread I was very alarmed the first time I was visiting my friends who'd recently had a baby, and he fell and whacked his head. They assured me it happened all the time, quieted him down, and set him back down on the floor. Five minutes later, he proved them right, by doing the exact same thing again. I'll stick with cats, for the time being. Hey, did you realize your post count is EXACTLY five times your rep power?

ghost-angel
Re: The "Nice Happy" Thread Today rocked... sure work was busy as hell what with two monkeys calling out sick. But I got my copy of Ninja Hero in the mail. I got my copy of KMFDMs new single (a day before it's out no less). [KMFDM does SWING! holy crap!] I have a job interview tomorrow for a position i'm pretty sure I'll get. I finally don't feel completely worn out like the last two weeks. I'm almost done with the latest update to the Ultimate Hero Index.
