Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

Okay folks,

Time to throw in my gauntlet here. This is an adjusted write-up of a similar character played in an alternate universe Marvel game. The character is the daughter of Bruce and Betty Banner. Born before Bruce lost it completely and went on a rampage so brutal that it left betty crippled for the rest of her life, Francine has felt motivated to undo her father's wake of terror and destruction her entire life.

Possessed of her parents' intellect she went into medicine and science herself, hoping to find the answer that would cure her father, now in high power lockdown by the US Army (yeah, they finally got him) and to stop any of his legacy that might be lurking within her.

In her first year after college, while working in a privately funded lab, she was confronted with the horrible truth that her father's altered genes had passed to her, but rather than a brutal monster of gigantic proportions, she seemed to have the mutant ability to manipulate Gamma radiation itself.

Since joining the Avengers, she has met the love of her life, a medical doctor named Joceline Morehouse but also discovered that the burden of her father does have a dark side manifesting in a hot temper, increased susceptibility to the baser instincts of human nature and. But the worst came when she realized that much like her father, she was prone to violent berserk rages.

These rages were not a physical change like her father, but a complete emotional and intellectual breakdown to her most basic mentality and instinctual behaviors. To combat this she has developed the GX43 serum that is capable of keeping her stable if administered on a regular weekly schedule.

Oh' date=' and I should probably mention: Those who submitted characters in the past, let me know if you still want to be considered (and a link to the character would be helpful, too). :)[/quote']

Walter "Dutch" Bannix is the son of Bruce Banner and Betty Ross. Walt was a normal baby boy. Betty put him up for adoption because she couldn't handle the stress of raising a child and deal with Bruce's problems. He was adopted by a Emily and John Bannix. He lived a normal life and was raised with love by his adoptive parents. He inherited his fathers genius intellect and was gifted athellectically as well, and excelled in sports. He recieved a shcolarship to attend NYU and also was accepted on the wrestling team. He graduated with honors, and was set to go to work for the goverment, but his life changed when he and his friends drove to a graduation party and were hit by a drunk driver. The car flipped over and Walt was thrown from the car and went over a cliff. He turned green as he fell and to his suprise landed on his feet, and leaped up over the cliff and turned the car over with one hand. His friends mistaken him for the hulk and freaked out.

Luckily the authorities notified Jennifer Walters and she was able to calm Walt down and then told him the truth about his real father. Somehow Bruces gamma erradiated DNA passed on to his son, and his son inherited his strength, resilence and green skin. Walt coudln't change back to his normal self and tried to make the best out of a bad situation. He opened a garage and used it as a front for his base in wich he tries to find a cure for his dad Bruce Banner.

Walt encountered various enermies of the hulk and has fought and defeated them. These battles were teleivised and some in the public thinks hes a rampaging monster. He decided to clean up the legacy of the hulk by becoming a hero. He took the code name Spur Jack and hopes to join the New Avengers someday.

Can I play Captain Thorecles?

He's a clone of Captain America, Thor and Hercules.

he has adamantium bones, claws, and an unbreakable Hammer/Shield.

I had to buy all his powers (including attributes) as "Independant" ... is that bad?

Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

Hitchhiker:

Hitchhiker is the “son” of the Scarlet Witch, though less in a biological sense and more in a spiritual one. Douglas Draft, out-of-work architect and open-mic-nite stand-up comedian, just happened to be the least probable person on the earth to inherit sorcerous powers based on probability. Interestingly enough, because he was the least probable person to get the sorcerous powers, this pretty much doomed him to getting them.

After figuring out that his sorcerous abilities, like the Scarlet Witch, were not entirely unlike the famous “improbability drive” from “Hitchhiker’s Guide,” he decided to use Hitchhiker as his moniker. Like the Scarlet Witch, he has to “do the math” and figure out exactly how improbable an event has to be before he can cause it to be. But unlike the Scarlet Witch, he’s still not fully in control of his power and is often the victim of extremely strange luck.

You’ll forgive me if I don’t have a full writeup, I’m away from both my books and my software, but, here’s some basic ideas for the power build:

A 60 pt. VPP: Magic, Active Point Penalty.

An additional 30 points on the VPP, with “Extra Time: 1 Turn” on only those 30 points

Another additional 60 points on the VPP, with “Extra Time: 2 hours” and OAF: Computer (Bulky) on that.

-- Clairvoyance (Only to choose the right answer among a known finite quantity of choices, i.e., Red Wire or Black Wire in a time bomb, “The password is no more than 8 characters long… 256 ascii characters including space… 256 to the eighth power… around eighteen and a half trillion, if you use the British milliard… ah, got it. tueSday4, capital S in the middle there.”)

-- Jinx: Transform Character into Character with unluck.

So incredibly damn lucky: Desolid, cannot pass through solid objects, takes damage from magic/ego attacks

Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

I am submitting the following charcter for inclusion in the game. She is the daughter of the Black Knight II and Sersi the Eternal....

Well, we certainly need more legacy heroes to help fill out the depleted ranks of the New Avengers! I'm very taken with the pic of Black Knight III; it's a very striking character concept (no pun intended).

But as to the write-up...alas, I can't read .hdc files, as I don't have access to Hero Designer. I'd like to see the character sheet, though, if you'd be willing to post an unformatted version...please? (It's not as if I'm the GM for the New Avengers game; no, that's The Bunny, may his tail be ever fluffy. I'm just another player, but I'd really like to see your lady Knight's write-up.)

I do remember this character's mother Sersei, but I'm drawing a blank on a Black Knight in the Marvel universe.

Background/History: Rosemond Whitman never knew her mother. She was raised by her father, famed physicist Dane Whitman, in his ancestral home of Garrett Castle in England. While still just a child, she loved to explore the castle, climbing up long-abandoned towers and delving into the dungeons below. During one such expedition, she discovered the tomb of Sir Percy, the original Black Knight. Her presence stirred up the ancient warrior's ghost, and he instantly recognized her kinship. "You are not ready yet, he told her, "but someday, when you are in need, call on me and the power of the Black Knight will be yours."

As she grew older, she forgot about the ghost and his promise, chalking it up to a childhood fantasy or a dream. She knew about her father's past as a superhero and an Avenger, but she was never particularly interested in science or heroism (much to her father's disappointment), but instead elected to become a broadcast major. When she graduated, she moved to New York City, where took a job as a production assistant at a TV studio.

It was there that she first met the woman who claimed to be her mother -- a bewitchingly beautiful woman named Sersi. Sersi told Rosemond that there was more to the young girl than she yet understood, and that there were great things in her future. Rosemond didn't really understand, but she felt a strong connection and kinship with the strange woman. Rosemond saw Sersi only infrequently, but each time the gregarious woman (who certainly didn't look old enough to be her mother) made a big impression on her.

It was later that year, while attending one of Sersi's infamous parties, that Rosemond discovered the spark that would create a hero. The party was attacked by a hoard of hideous, misshapen creatures. These monsters didn't care who they hurt, but they were obviously after Sersi. They overpowered her using some strange weapon and were in the process of dragging her underground when Rosemond suddenly remembered the promise the spirit of Sir Percy had made decades ago. She called out the name of the Black Knight, and suddenly found herself encased in armor and wielding a black sword. The Deviants were unprepared for the arrival of another superhero and were easily overpowered.

Rosemond spent the next several months learning about her powers. She learned the truth about Sersi and her Eternal heritage. Her mother taught her how to manipulate Cosmic Energy (though she's not nearly as good at it as Sersi is), and her father taught her about the Ebony Blade and the enchanted lands of Avalon. Now, she wants to join the Avengers and make good on both of her parents' legacies!

Personality/Motivation: There are two conflicting facets to Rosemond's personality. When she is working, she strives to maintain a completely professional demeanor. This extends to both her civilian and her superhero identities. But when off-duty, she loves to relax and let her hair down. She loves to go out -- to concerts, to the theater, to movies, and especially to parties. She is gregarious and fun-loving, always willing to try a new adventure. It seems that her father's and her mother's personalities both exert a draw on her.

She became the new Black Knight because she feels it is important to carry on her father's legacy. But she has discovered that she loves the thrill of adventure and she has come to relish the opportunity to put on her armor and draw her sacred blade -- to stand strong against the enemies of humanity and see that justice is done!

Quote: "Halt foul villian and face my wrath! Oh, bloody hell, let's just party!"

Powers/Tactics: Rosemond's powers come from both sides of her family. From her mother, she inherited the power of the Eternals -- their immortality and their ability to manipulate the Power Cosmic. From her father, she has inherited his weapons -- the enchanted armor, Ebony Blade, and the winged horse known as Strider. As she grows in power, which side of the family will she favor? Only time can tell.

Campaign Use:

Appearance: Rosemond is a pretty girl with long, straight, black hair and green eyes. She is 22 years old, and dresses professionally in her civilian ID. She grew up in Great Britain, and still retains her accent and her love for hot tea. In costume, she wears her hair in a ponytail which pokes out the back of her black helmet. She wears a suit of enchanted chainmail (forged in the mystical land of Avalon), a black tabbard that displays the symbol of the Black Knight, and a flowing black cloak. Her sword has a shining silver hilt and a blade as black as the night.

Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

Thanks for the plain text write-up, BunnySue. I appreciate it...so here, have some Rep.

That write-up certainly gives me a better idea of the complex young woman that is Rosemond Whitman. She has all sorts of interesting hooks in her background that could potentially make her life very -- interesting.

She's a bit older than Arachne, the New Avengers own Spectacular Spider-Teen, but Rosemond seems to have a lot of the same passion for life and excitement that Peter Parker's little girl does. I'd enjoy seeing how those two react to one another...

Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

This one came in through a PM...

It should be noted that Nethan is a little rough because for the life of me I could not find either my HeroDesigner disc or my copy of Fred, so I had to make him from memory. His backstory, to summarize, is such...

Some 20 odd years ago Namor found an infant swimming in a lost, out of the way part of the ocean. The really interesting part was that he was a few hundred feet below, and seemed to be having the time of his life. His curiousity perked, Namor took the child and visited his old 'friends' the Fantastic 4. After a few simple tests they found that the child was a mutant, though it was a bit odd his powers had manifested so early in his life. If asked today, Namor has a hard time explaining why he decided to take the child with him to Atlantis (though there are theories abound, depending on who you ask), but he did, and after a time he began to think of him as his own.

A few decades later, and the child, named Nethan, is not only the crown Prince of Atlantis (as benefits the adopted son of the King), but he is Atlantis's envoy to the world, Namor having long ago grown disgusted with the surface dwellars. But as alike as the King and the Prince's powers may be, their demeanors and attitudes could not be more different. Where as Namor is detached, cold, even arrogant, Nethan is compassionate, inviting, and very humble. He harbors no ill will towards the surface world, and often times has to calm his fathers rage at what he sees at yet another tresspass.

Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3

Hey, everyone. Well, once again I had to make a tough choice. A lot of good submissions, and thanks to everyone who came up with an idea. It wasn't an easy decision, but in the end, I could only choose two. The new Avengers will be:

Captain Emu

Gamma

BunnySue

Black Knight III

I'll be contacting both of you shortly to work out some details and make some adjustments to your characters...

Thanks again everyone!
