Darren Watts
That's right, gang, preorders are now open in the Online Store! Please remember, this is the $10 down-payment for the book, which will help us determine how big the print run should be when the book goes into production next month. We'll be tying that run pretty closely to the number of paid preorders, so if you want one don't take the chance that there'll be any left over! Once we've got the production underway, we'll set up the various options in the store for people who want signatures, particular numbers in the run, etc.- no need to worry about that stuff yet, you'll have plenty of time to let us know. Click on the product itself for more information, and thanks for helping us celebrate 25 years of Champions History!
Steve Long
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! Just a quick reminder to people who've placed a preorder to e-mail the following information to me at SteveL@herogames.com: —your name —the “handle†you use on the Hero Games message boards and in the Online Store —your shipping address. You must list an address that will be valid during the May-July period when we expect to receive and ship the books. —your telephone number. Again, please give us a number that will be valid during May-July. —any special features you desire. If you want to reserve a number from the print run (#2 to #200), please indicate which number you want. —your e-mail address. This is the main way we’ll contact you to let you know the books are available, so you must list an address that will be valid during the May-July period when we expect to receive and ship the books. We don't want anyone to miss out on their order, so please get your information in! As of the last time I checked the ol' inbox I'd only received one C25 e-mail, so I figured it couldn't hurt to pass on a gentle reminder. Fry Daddy
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! How long to we have before ordering is closed? I won't be able to make the down-payment until the end of this week.
Steve Long
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! How long to we have before ordering is closed? Not for quite a well yet -- several weeks, I expect -- so no worries. At some point we're going to have to evaluate the number of preorders and determine the size of the print run, but since we'll order a little "overage," we may even be able to take some more preorders after the book goes to the printer. We plan to have a few left after filling pre-orders so we can sell an occasional copy at conventions, but we don't expect that number to be very large. The best way to ensure that you get a copy is to place a pre-order.

bobrunnicles
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! Just preordered mine too .....one question, is the revised Island Of Doctor Destroyer going to be available in any other format at any point? HPA perhaps? I seriously doubt I would want to run the risk of messing up my $100 book to run it.....but on the other hand I understand totally if you want to keep this as a '25th Ed' exclusive. The second-most requested has been #23. Plenty of good numbers left, folx!

More seriously, Steve Jackson Games once did a book titled 'Warehouse 23' about all sorts of weird fun stuff (everything from the Holy Grail to the Roswell UFO to explosive bread dough), which is all I can think of right now. Derek Hiemforth
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! The number 23 figures conspicuously in The Illuminatus Trilogy co-authored by Robert Anton Wilson, as well as in many of his non-fiction books. This is the reason why, for example, Steve Jackson Games' online store (and earlier book of the same name) is called Warehouse 23. (The word "fnord", which features prominently in SJG material, also comes from Illuminatus and from the Principia Discordia... holy book of the Discordians, which Wilson also contributed to. My license plate in CA reads "23FNORD".) There are several web sites devoted to documenting conspicuous 23's. Here's a pretty good one: http://www.afgen.com/numbr23b.html

Supreme Serpent
Re: Now Taking Preorders For the Champions 25th-Anniversary Special Edition! I dunno. I've had very good experiences with ordering from DOJ, and I'm sure they honestly intend to produce it, etc. but the whole "non-refundable, even if we don't print it for any reason including we just decide not to" bit rubs me the wrong way. I'm sure it would be a valuable collector's item, but I'd never want to sell it, so the collector value wouldn't apply for me. Reprints/updates of things I either have (Champions/Island of Dr. D) and stuff I don't really care for (Champions Universe). The Heroes Speak! stuff could be neat, but probably not much that I haven't already heard/read I would imagine. So I guess I'm still up in the air on this one...but am currently leaning on giving it a pass, and using the $ for other things like Masterminds and Madmen, so still a win for HERO/DOJ. But why is #23 requested so much? there's a meme I'm missing out on isn't there Other than the Illuminatus tie-in, another possible reason for choosing #23 (and the reason I asked for it, although I didn't get it) was in homage to the old Goodman School of Cost-Effectiveness from Champions II.
