Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

I don't really follow artist all that much, but looking up the art for stuff that I liked.

George Perez.

Alex Ross

Brent Anderson (these three I didn't have to look up, I knew them :) )

Jeff Johnson - and that just for Way of the Rat - he drew actually correct martial arts stances and moves, and one move followed another logically. The only time I have even seen martial arts depicted anything close to accurately in comics.

Brian Hitch.

John Cassaday (I loved the art in Planetary)

That is about it.

I generally like fairly realistic artwork, stuff that isn't too stylized.

Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

George Perez.

He and Byrne really define for me how super comics "should" look.

John Byrne. Mostly the older stuff. His later stuff may be more technically proficient, but just doesn't feel as cool, and his inking on his own stuff feels a little thick to me.

vs

Rest in no real order:

Mark Bagley. Esp. like his tech stuff, battlesuits and the like.

Alan Davis.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=17709

Andrea DiVito.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=18236

Steve Ditko. For the early Spider-Man work and those crazy Dr. Strange landscapes.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=22387

Tom Grummett.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=11165

Phil Jimenez. Looks like he tries to be Perez, which I have no problem with.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=3451

Carlos Pacheco.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=3545

John Romita, Jr. Sometimes hit or miss for me, but overall like his work.

Plus some honorable mentions.

Norm Breyfogle. Not sure how I'd like him on other stuff, but was great for Batman.

http://www.comicartcommunity.com/gallery/details.php?image_id=237

Walter Simonson. Again, not my fave for other stuff, but was awesome for Thor.

Mike Zeck.

Michael Golden

Jim Starlin

Jack Kirby - great storytelling, but generally prefer to look at his successors.

Probably others can't think of at the moment.

Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

Jack Kirby, duh. There's a reason why everybody else copies him.

Others: George Perez, Neal Adams, Bill Sienkiewicz...

EDIT: Dave Cockrum, John Byrne, Carmine Infantino, CC Beck, Gil Kane, Brian Bolland, Frank Miller, Ramona Fradon...

Did I mention Jack Kirby. ;)

I might add some others later on.

More: Jackson Guice, Mike Grell, Curt Swan... Too many others...

I'll mention Darwyn Cooke and Cameron Stewart for their Catwoman work.

Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

There are a great many comicbook artists of all periods that I love, from Mike Grell, Curt Swan and Dave Cockrum to Jeff & Phil Moy and Frank Cho. I like Bill Sink-o-witz (phonetic here because I can't spell his last name), Rob Liefield, Paul Johnson and Alex Ross. And the list goes on.

But something I've learned to bear in mind is that even my favorite artists can hit a bad patch. Then how much you love their work will determine how quickly you can forgive them...and sometimes it's not a direct correlation.

Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

There are a few artists that I will buy their stuff just from seeing their names attached to the project:

Alan Davis

Mike Grell

Tim Truman

Kyle Baker

Bill Willingham

Jim Cassaday

Phil Jimenez

George Perez

Eduardo Rizzo

Carlos Pacheco

Brent Anderson

John Buscema, when he still strode this world beneath his sandalled feet

Those are the ones who can have my money no matter what project because they do not disappoint.

Re: Who are your favourite Superhero Artists?

Ok, since it goes without saying that Kirby and Ross have to be on the list,

I'll buck the trend of other names already mentioned and, since he has

yet to be named I'll add:

Michael Turner....
