Kaeto
How much trouble is that to clean? I have a stove-top whirly-popper, but we've always dreamed of getting a theater-style unit some day. But we pop popcorn twice a week, usually, so it seems like it'd be a pain to keep that thing clean. It is a pain, but the taste of the pop corn makes it more than worth it to me. Pariah
We got two stovetop whirl-poppers when we got married. I don't think we've ever used either of them. I know we regifted one when Lady P's niece got married a couple of years ago.
Cygnia
I prefer air-popped, but we've indulged in stovetop. Coconut oil works rather well for popping.
Logan D. Hurricanes
Coconut oil is the secret to movie theater popcorn. Great stuff, expensive stuff though.
Cancer
My grandparents used a utensil made of steel screening and heavy wire/rod stock that one used over a fire (for them, in the fireplace) when popping popcorn. Since we never had a fireplace, when I was a kid we used the big pot on the stovetop with oil in the bottom. Affordable stand-alone hot air poppers started being available about the time I finished high school, and I don't think I've made popcorn any other way at home since then. The prepackaged microwave paper popcorn packets I've used when living in the dorm, and in various work environments, but you do tend to burn the stuff the first time or two with an unfamiliar microwave oven. Pariah
There's a pizza place here that serves something called Spud-O-Licious: Ranch sauce instead of red sauce, thin slices of potato, cheddar cheese, and bacon. Basically, it's like a baked potato on a pizza. And it's pretty darn good. I'm having leftovers for lunch.
Nolgroth
I went back to the early pages of this thread and now I feel a great sadness. This thread is a veritable Who's Who of the Hero Boards from that period in time. Too many good people that have apparently moved on. I guess that means it is time for some unhealthy comfort food. Pariah
Hamburger of hotdog? Why not both? I've seen restaurants out here that will top a hamburger with a hot dog*, but the Hamdog is something completely new. *One of the popular local restaurants here is famous for a hamburger topped with pastrami, for cryin' out loud. Pariah
Half-Whopper, Half-Burrito ‘Whopperito’ to Terrify America at Burger Kings Nationwide I actually tried one of these today. It wasn't too bad. The taco sauce they use has a surprising kick, but it makes the whole thing a little greasy. The pickles were a surprise, but not a bad one. I'd probably give it a B--not bad, but not something I'd eat on a regular basis.

Ternaugh
It's been something like 8 years for me since I last ate a corn dog. I can't remember when I had one before that, possibly never*. *Mom hated them, and wouldn't serve 'em. And I certainly wouldn't have received one when we were eating out.
