Rachel
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I find it ironic that someone who has proven, in public, that he doesn't know when someone's lying just accused someone else of lying tonight. I guess some people just have to continuously prove how clueless they really are.

Thrakazog
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Before last night, Kerry had zero chance. Now he has some chance to win. That means thousands of dollars in increased taxes for me to pay. It would also mean that my daily life, commuting into NYC on public transportation each day - would become more dangerous. I'd seriously think about taking a job away from NYC if Kerry got elected. Heck, I'd seriously think about moving away from the fallout radius. red_eagle123
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Death Tribble gave me a smile in another thread. And here I was worried that in the thread he referenced I was taking too many cheap shots at his (it's?) expense. Hopefully that's just my perception and not anyone elses, but regardless I should work to be more careful about that. Of course on the other hand I tend to worry about too many little things that cause most people to look at me all funny like. Hard for me to tell which is which sometimes, meaningful and real worry or meaningless dribble to be ignored.

And what wasn't substantive in Kerry's portion of the debate?

death tribble
Re: A Thread for Random Musings So I was late home last night 10:30 pm local. And still wide awake. Watched a thing on crater lakes which are lakes in volcanoes. And how dangerous these are. Like filled with gas. One in Africa leaked Carbon Dioxide that killed 1700 people in the valley below in 1986. It had never hinted at anything like this before so the fact it could do this was shocking. It meant watches by vulcanologists at other crater lakes. One in Indonesia has miners working in the crater amongst the dangerous gases as they mine sulphur. 70 Kg of that which the miners have to climb to the crater rim and down again to the mining company below for $2. And they do that trip 3 times a day. Last one they featured was in New Zealand where the crater wall gave way and the water became a dangerous flood that washed out a railway bridge December 24th 1953. 120 odd people on an express train died. There is a monument to them near the rebuilt bridge. Sad stuff. New Zealand's worst railway disaster.

Starlord
Re: A Thread for Random Musings I watched "I Love the 90s" on VH1 a couple weeks ago, specifically 1993. They brought up the Power Rangers and played the original Power Rangers theme song. It took me several years to get that song out of my head. Now it's back. Damn. However, a friend suggesting listening to Huey Lewis songs over and over and that might do the trick. I think I'll try that tonight, my only worry that Huey Lewis will just replace the Power Rangers. Hyper-Man
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Nightmare College Football scenario for the NCAA and BCS*. *Bowl Championship Series which puts the #1 and #2 college football teams in a bowl game at end of season. Say the University of Southern California (USC) is ranked #1 at the end of the regular season. in and of itself this is not a bad thing... but... If the #2 ranked team happens to sometimes be referred to as USC we might end up with... "Welcome to Tempe Arizona for the Fiesta Bowl with the USC Trojans facing the USC* Gamecocks!" *USC=University of South Carolina

Doctor Otaku
Re: A Thread for Random Musings Moving this weekend is going to be 'fun'. But I do get a cool TV out of the deal! Already met the obligatory hot downstairs neighbor. Sucks that I have to wait until Wedensday before I get my phone and internet up. But for the unadulterated glory of playing with a 1 Mbps line, it's worth the wait. Hmm... I wonder if the obligatory hot downstairs neighbor likes anime...
