  1. The details contained in an export are entirely dependent on the export format chosen. For STR Minimum, it will only auto-calculate if you enter the actual value -- select the appropriate range to get the right Limitation value and then change the text from a range (e.g. 10-15) to a specific value (e.g. 13).
  2. Without any other details to go on, I'd have to say user error.
  3. Yes and yes. Read the documentation -- specifically, the section titled "Characteristics as Powers"
  4. Not really sure how to explain it any clearer... Open a command prompt on your system (under Windows, Start -> Run... -> cmd), cd to the directory that you unpacked HeroDesigner.zip into (the directory that contains HD6.jar), and enter the command given in the first post of this thread.
  5. Unclevlad will no longer be joining in this conversation.
  6. Edit that (now) or you're done in the thread (and likely moderated in general)
  7. Read through the section titled "Export Formats" in the documentation for HD. There are other tags available (apart from those listed in the docs), but they tend to be fairly specialized - if you don't find what you're looking for, just ask here.
  8. Delete all text during an edit and it will revert to default.
  9. Fixed in the current update.
  10. The EP is adding its bonuses in the secondary roll value (not the primary). It's doing this because the Detect is bound to the Characters PER roll. The PER roll for the character will only take EP with all Sense Groups into account for the primary roll, but has been using all EPs regardless of Sense Group for the secondary, due to the number of options possible (you can purchase EP for the Sight Group but then add in other Sense Groups or individual Senses). The secondary roll was meant to show the max possible. That said, I'm removing that behavior. Only Enhanced Perception purchased for all Sense Groups will add to the PER roll (and be reflected in the rolls for any Detects). Limited EP purchases will not be automatically added in, even if they match the sense group of the Detect.
  11. One of two possibilities: 1. You're using File -> Open Prefab... rather than Prefabs -> Load Prefab. The former opens a prefab file for editing. The latter loads the prefab for use. 2. You're loading a prefab that doesn't have any abilities/items defined for the tab you're looking at.
  12. Have you read the documentation for HD (specifically the section regarding the use of prefabs)?

    Memory Woes

All loaded prefabs have the same impact on memory as if they were part of the character. Unless HD is giving you low/out of memory errors, don't worry about the meter -- there are a number of intricacies in how Java handles memory that you need to understand before paying much attention to that. If you're getting low/out of memory errors from HD, first and foremost look to how many prefabs you have loaded (not just what you're actively working on). Unload those that you don't need. If that's not an option, then look to increase the amount of memory that you're giving to HD.
  14. All Advantages appear in alphabetical order. As do the Limitations...and the recently selected modifiers. Pick the list that works best for you.
  15. It's worth noting that HD is doing things correctly - you're running into the limits on the granularity of the rules. There is no "Costs 1/2 END only to Activate" in the system, by design (Steve's).
  16. So you're asking for help pirating software.
  17. You found a download as in "you found it available online somewhere and downloaded it" or "you found an old copy that you had downloaded after legitimately purchasing the application"?
  18. You're applying those Modifiers (both the Advantages and Limitations) to your STR. All of it. So the character would have no STR unless they spent a full phase preparing, and then only against targets that were on the ground. You're looking for a Naked Modifier, with the Advantages applied as the Naked Modifier and the Limitations applied to the Naked Modifier.
  19. 1. You don't import files into HD. You just open them. 2. If you're looking to open a character, the only filter that HD uses is the extension on the file (looking for .hdc files). That's it. If the files are not showing up when you browse to the directory that they're in, then they are not .hdc files. The same is true for all other file types in HD (loading a prefab will look for .hdp files, etc.)
  20. HD will not make any such statement -- that is from your system and sounds like you're trying to "run" the file outside of HD.
  21. The PDF is saved to whatever location you specify when you first click on the Print to PDF menu item.
  22. Same response, with more intricacies in the rule: APW does not impact the damage, AP does. Again, you’re running into odd intricacies in the system rules.
  23. It's a quirk of the rules. Naked Advantages (which is what you're buying here) cost END to use unless the Naked Advantage is Reduced Endurance, at which point the NA becomes a 0-END ability. Otherwise, you'd end up paying END in order to reduce the END of the base ability...which is kinda screwy. You're buying multiple Naked Advantages as part of the same writeup, so you're going to see some odd behaviors rules-wise. If you don't want that, you can purchase the Reduced END separately as a Naked Advantage that applies to up to 60 Active Points of STR (which is what you'd be using if you used the full 20 STR with a +2 Advantage).
