    Couldn't agree more.

HERO really drops the ball when it comes to Vehicles and Vehicle combat.

I've never liked the "vehicles are just characters" schtick but trying to actually run/play out a Viper vs Raider space battle with the HERO system rules is dang near impossible and, like you said. Very, very unsatisfying.

This has kind of already been said, but yeah, go through every skill and every power and think of it from a Driving angle.

Lonewolf mentioned Shadowing. Exactly. I'd recommend that the players buy skills "on foot" and skills "in car" separately.

Shadowing on foot is very different than by vehicle. Imagine a guy who is good at Shadowing on foot having to do it in a car instead, or vice versa. Like, I can see Vin Diesel ninja-ing his car under a tractor trailer to avoid being spotted in a rear view, but I can also see him tripping over a hot dog stand when trying to do this on foot. In this campaign, they could be two different skills.

I see Acrobatics working the same way: character can flip a car, do a full rotation to jump from the bridge to the underpass, but as a person can't do a somersault.

"Acting" : can duplicate another driver's style, make it look like she did the heist when the video footage is reviewed. Or she can make it look like there's something wrong with the car. "The way she's driving, I'd say she blew her engine..." Surprise!

Breakfall: Can slow down by hitting things without taking too much Body off the car.

Contortionist: "No way you can fit between those two cars...wait! Don't!!"

Demolitions: Know where to hit another car to do extra damage....maybe Find Weakness fits this better....

Ok what might throw you off is the HSMA breaks down abilities by sub genre. There’s five of them: Realistic, Cinematic, Wuxia, Anime video game. Now that being said, don’t let those terms bother you. If you like a technique and it’s video game by all means use it.

Did anyone tell you that HD does come with a PDF on how to use it? Cause it does.

I started a thread awhile back on Automobile Hero ideas.
I'd love to hear some ideas or suggestions, especially about the points where you think Vehicle Hero rules fail.

Have you ever played Battletech? Then Mecha are giant shaped vehicles. Now depending on what source you’re looking at, your point is valid.

I'm sure it'll be done badly.

Ravenloft was never meant to be an accurate portrayal of Romania.  It was basically the world of Universal monsters and Hammer films.  And those movies have stereotypical "gypsies" in them.  So you're left with this awkward situation.  You say "real Roma aren't like the gypsies in the movies", but what you actually want are the movie characters.  So you call them Vistani, and you're free to include movie stereotypes if you wish.  But then someone comes in and insists that your gypsy stereotype group, who you renamed to something else, has to look like the real life people who are supposedly nothing like the movies...

It would be like if you had a tribe of cannibals in a jungle adventure game.  And to get away from the troublesome African tribe stereotypes, you change them and make them nonhumans who practice necromancy.  So they're now a tribe of human-eating hobgoblins, who use bone magic and wear colorful tribal masks.  Like you can still kinda tell what they're going for, but they changed it to avoid implications of racism.  And then somebody comes in and says "that's not what real African tribes are like!"  Yeah no shit.  The more you make them like a real world culture, the more trouble you can get in.  The purpose is to hit the tropes of the genre while avoiding any racist connotations.

I'm not really sure how much of a market exists for traditional Ravenloft anymore though.  The movies it is based on are really old, and I kinda doubt that modern day teenagers are that familiar with them.

I usually play an elf, and I've never played my character that way, except for one snooty human knight. However, I got a lot of hate from other players, which led me to leave the group.

    It goes both ways.

Just don’t buy any new books or new reprint of older materials. In games, I dislike moral ambiguity in my escapism. Orcs aren’t real and I resent the SJW intrusion into geek escapism. I play a fair amount of 5e right now, but I will be more selective from now on.

Everyone else is bowing and scraping to the SJW and PC Police (which are, apparently, the only police that are allowed to exist now).

Well as mentioned, at least there's still the older material for those of us that don't actively seek "injustice" in everything we look at.

HERO Designer does not have rules in a manner that's accessible to the user.  It enforces character creation rules, but doesn't explain them nor does it have any other rules for user reference.  You will need to purchase the rules separately.

That is a REALLY good reason for making it a Physical limitation.  I'd just never seen that particular "type" of lim built that way.  I've used it a few times and it never once occurred to me that the way I'd built it meant a simple, relatively speaking, Ego roll would "fix" it for that moment.

Because it can't be overcome with an Ego Roll, like a psychological one can.

Vanguard got a reaction from Ninja-Bear in Why NOT use a multipower for magic?
They haven't been "neutered".  They just have to to actually pay for the power that they go for free before.

And while point costs of most POWERS have remained the same, the actual point cost for characteristics have changed to reflect the decoupling.  Not all of them mind you but a good portion of them.

The problem that has arisen is that HERO games likes to copy and paste.  So while the decoupling was done to level the playing field a bit, all published characters are just copy/pasted from previous editions instead of actually being rewritten to take advantage of the new rules.

Weapon and armor restrictions by class in D&D always seemed contrived to me, and one of the things that drew me to the Hero system in the first place.

Eh, Gandalf is explicitly described as being a wizard, of which only 3 remain. Cosmologically speaking, wizards are incredibly unique, demi-angelic superbeings.
