Ragitsu reacted to Lord Liaden in Political Discussion Thread (With Rules)
Mail-in balloting is crucial to Americans living overseas, and American military stationed abroad. Neither of whom appear to be supportive of Trump overall. All the polling I've read to date suggests that voting by mail favors the total for Democratic candidates. I'm beyond confident that if it favored Republicans, Trump would be solidly behind it. We also have to consider that it's the safest way to conduct the ballot while maintaining social distancing. How many Americans is it acceptable to disenfranchise, or put at risk of disease, to deny Trump "ammunition?" I expect if he wants to contest the election result he'll find some other unfounded excuse if denied this one, and his followers will believe him.
But you bring up a good point, in that Trump has long parroted whatever left-wing-conspiracy theory extremists on the Right put out on television, radio, or the Internet. He seems to have a permanent paranoid world view, genuinely believing hidden groups are deliberately working against him. Because he's just that important. But IME those who rail the loudest against something are often those who are most inclined toward what they rail against. Trump being treacherous himself, would naturally be constantly looking for treachery from others. I'm willing to bet he's tried to think of some way he could commit mail-in-ballot fraud to favor himself.

One positive development out of all of this mayhem is the unmasking; specifically, the unmasking of too many people among us that are casually in favor of fascism. It truly is fascinating watching someone throw their fellow citizen under the bus while simultaneously wiping their ass with The Constitution*.
* Note that, unlike some, I don't treat the United State's Constitution as some sort of holy text; while there are some coincidentally good ideas contained within, it was - at the end of the day - drafted by a bunch of privileged slave owners that lived during a time when firearms could fire roughly one shot per minute. There needs to be some revision applied to The Constitution...if only to clear up ambiguity caused by centuries of linguistic drift.

If I was doing hundreds of people a day, it wouldn't be coronavirus that kills me.

The difference between working with dozens of adults and working with dozens of children is light years in my experience. Should be pretty clear to any parent or school employee.

Police are responding to protests against police brutality with... more police brutality. I think that pretty much sums it up.
The total resistance to any actual dialogue about changing police procedures, or ending coverups for police misconduct, has been really eye opening.

Moral of the story: there is no argument that can't be won through eye-beams to the face.

Hell of time for you to drop the Gandhi signature.
Let's wait until we can reach celestial bodies, yeah ?

Thank you for being impartial by also including the perspective of the protestors.
They're scared to death of losing their power. This is nothing more than a beast letting the moonlight glint off its claws.

Legitimate addressing of the issues (instead of token gestures) would end all this, but...as usual...America refuses to admit there is any problem.

Aggressively neon yellows, exceptionally passionate reds and unspeakably tacky greens?

That said, we should absolutely continue to push...and push...and push some more...for higher standards. This nonsense about high IQ applicants being denied the opportunity to become law enforcement officers must be consigned to the trashcan of history.
