  3. Get your Background Skills here Exactly why I am planning on using Skill Multipliers from The Ultimate Skill in my next campaign and forcing the players to take 10-15 points worth of Background Skills.
  4. Re: Speedster Area Attack How about Area of Effect (Any Area, Selective) and Must Make a Half Move? I know realistically, it should be a Full Move but generally you are not suppose to get a Full Move and attack.

  12. Re: Penalty Skill Levels for non-combat Skills One of the reasons I really like Penalty Skill Levels; they do not increase your chance of success above your skill. I see them as a way to slow down the skill level arms race. I do not have Valdorian Age (yet) and had never thought about using them for Active Point penalties for Requires Skill Roll. Another excellent example. Although, it would probably be cheaper to buy RSR with no Active Point penalty. I do not know if Valdorian Age allows that.

  18. Re: Musing on D&D spellcasting conversion Man you are quick. Once again, thank you for your insight. I will just have to mark Trigger as a Stop Sign Advantage and keep a closer eye on them. I do think this opens up the Ultra Slot issue in a good way.
  19. I believe it was The Ultimate Skill that suggested Penalty Skill Levels could be used for more than just combat skills. While I really like this idea, I have a hard time thinking of good examples. vs. Taking Less Time Than Base vs. Not Having Appropriate Tools vs. Different Race (for PRE based Skills) Would you please offer more suggestions?
  20. Re: System Conversions I find there is a lot of setting material that I like out there. However, I find I dislike most of the mechanics out there. I have not found any settings that could not be divorced from their mechanics. Of course, I have not looked at a lot of narrative games. I suppose you could argue BESM, Prose Descriptive Quality (PDQ) and Spirit of the Century, but I see those as competing mechanics that I would use rather than Hero. Not as systems I would attempt to convert to Hero.

  22. Re: Musing on D&D spellcasting conversion I never paid much attention to Trigger before. It seems like it could be even more abusive than Delayed Effect in the context of my previous post. Is there anything stopping me from loading Concentration (0 DCV, -½), Increased END (END x3, -1), Extra Time (1 Minute, -1½), Gestures (-¼) and Incantations (-¼) on a power, then adding Trigger (Activating the Trigger is an Action that takes no time, Trigger resets automatically, immediately after it activates)? If I understand correctly, I would not need to recast the spell ever so I would increase Increased END and Extra Time. Trigger also looks like a good way around the problem of Ultra slots in a Multipower with Offensive and Defensive powers.
