  1. Re: Spectre of 6e Welcome aboard! Folks around here are about the friendliest and most helpful you'll find anywhere. But watch out for that bunneh guy. He crazy.
  2. Re: Things Foxbat should try to steal teh HAWT!!!
  3. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... A fighter, actually. But he's pretty sure he's invulnerable... despite all evidence to the contrary.
  4. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From our D&D4 game last weekend... We've just cleared out a nest of kobalds and we're looking around. My tiefling warlock has just spotted something... Tiefling: There's something over there in the corner. But I'm not dumb enough to go check it out. Dragonborn: I'll check it... It turns out to be a pit trap with spikes at the bottom, which the Dragonborn narrowly avoids getting impaled on. Tiefling: Hey Dragon-boy, didn't I just say not to go over there? Dragonborn: No, you said you saw something, but that you weren't... dumb... enough... Oh.
  5. Re: Things Foxbat should try to steal At 110 pounds, it weighs nearly three times as much as Kate Moss herself does!
  6. Re: Trade and Speculation in FH Yeah, but a lot of the prices are listed as "18tp 47cp 3 bp and 1 sp" and the like. There's a lot of places where they don't convert it to the lowest common denominator, which can be really annoying.
  7. Re: Trade and Speculation in FH That's pretty snazzy. Am I safe in assuming that things like Amorglass and Eogann are some material specific to the campaign world? For price lists, if you can find a copy of "...And a 10 foot pole" it's got a lot of lists of various commodities and prices down through the ages -- though the monetary system they use is arcane and hard to figure.
  8. Re: Halloween! Arachne: Like Banner, she would bring some samples to Hornet and Iron Girl to study. Batroc: "My body is a temple... but surely one leetle bonbon would not 'urt, oui? Mmm... maybe just one more. And anozaire..." After the crisis was solved, she'd have to spend many, many hours on the Nordictrac. Shaw: "I fail to see how this concerns me."
  9. Re: URBAN FANTASY HERO -- What Do *You* Want To See? I like that.
  10. Re: The cranky thread *calls off airstrike on Archermoo*
  11. Re: Best Battle Not really "best battle," but certainly among the most memorable... I was GMing a long-term campaign. After months of slogging through a jungle, the heroes were getting ready to do final battle with the evil snake-priests. The party got separated in a "shifting rooms" type maze, but three of the heroes managed to find each other... and the temple where the evil ritual was about to take place. I built the head priest to be very, very tough. And he was surrounded by very, very tough bodyguards. It was not meant to be a cakewalk. The three heroes decided they couldn't wait for the rest of the party to catch up, so they leapt in to attack. It went something like this: Phase 12: Cleric rushes up to the head priest. Hits. Rolls awesome damage. Wins the STUN Lottery. Head priest is Stunned. Paladin rushes up to the head priest. Hits. Rolls awesome damage. Head priest dies. Thief rushes up to the head priest. Sees the guy is already dead. Makes PRE attack on the bodyguards and tells them to flee. Unfortunately, the bodyguards didn't flee, so the rest of the fight was a tough one... but I was so disappointed that my big baddie went down in a single phase. I laugh about it now.
  12. Re: Learning from the mistakes of others I was originally a D&D4 skeptic. I found a copy of the rules and read through them looking for things to hate. What I ended up coming away with was a sort of admiration for the game. It was surprisingly well-designed. It was definitely a throwback to its old-school tactical wargame roots, but it did that so well that I was, frankly, impressed. I had grown to dislike 3.x because it tried to be too many things to too many people, and was on the verge of collapsing under its own weight. But the new 4.0 system is elegant, clean. It knows what it wants to be -- a tactical simulation -- and makes no apologies. I don't know how it will turn out 3 years from now after they've published a million supplements, but right now it's a lean, mean, fighting-monsters-and-taking-their-stuff machine. It's not everyone's cuppa, to be sure. If you're looking for a system that supports detailed world-building mechanics or high-drama angst, steer clear of it! But that's OK, because I've got other games to satisfy those needs. 4.0 will never replace Hero as my game of choice, but I can see it satisfying that "sometimes I just want to kill greenskins and steal their shinies" itch. And every once in a while, the devious little tactician that lives in my head wants to come out and play too -- and this game is perfect for him. Oh, and put me down as another one of those "Yeah, this definitely feels like a MMORPG" people. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
  13. Re: Trade and Speculation in FH Sure, I'd like to see it.
  14. Re: Musings on Random Musings Bah. You all wish you were as cool as I am.
  15. Re: Musings on Random Musings Hey! I kinda liked Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil!
  16. Re: You Are President! Come on. You just know the guy is only one bad day away from trying to conquer the world!
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Ssshh! Don't tell him that! He was about to give me cookies!
  18. I got four, myself So how many medals did everyone win?
  19. Re: WWYCD: Magic Fishnets? Georgette Batroc is already a martial artist and a gadgeteer. And she has great legs. She'd put them on in an instant. They'd definitely become part of her regular arsenal. Arachne might try to wear them once, but then she'd just about die of embarrassment and stuff them in the bottom of her drawer and never look at them again. Gabriel Shaw... No. Just... no.
  20. Re: You Are President! Arachne is only 16, so she doesn't qualify. Batroc would love the job! But she's not an American citizen, so she doesn't qualify either. Gabriel Shaw is only in his mid-20s now, but in 20-30 years I could certainly see him running for president. He's got the wealth, the smarts, the acumin, and the old-money contacts to do it. The question is, in 20-30 years will he still be a hero, or will he have followed his father down the dark path?
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... That depends. What kind of cookies?
  22. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... From the Nextwave: Agents of HATE game I played in at Gencon (some of these might be repeats from Susano's quotes... sorry). The Captain: Mmmmm... Fissionable Popcorn! The Captain: I'm gonna throw a car at him! Elsa: You did check to make sure there wasn't anyone in that car first, didn't you? The Captain: ...yes...? Chuck Norris: Who's your leader? Monica: I turn invisible! GM: Too bad for you. Chuck can see the invisible. Monica: Plan B! Plan B! The Captain: We're already on Plan B! Monica: Then go to Plan C! Aaron: Is that the one where we set everything on fire? The Captain: Which Plan are we on now? Aaron: Plan F: No Witnesses. The Captain: I'm going to grab the nearest weapon and throw it. That's either this car or Elsa. Eenie meenie minie... Elsa! The Captain: Aren't you going to do anything??? Monica: We're still following the plan, so I'm good. Monica: I'm going online to look up "Avengers Battle Plans." GM: Mostly, you find a lot of Avenger pr0n. The Captain: Bookmark that site for me, will you? The Captain: Don't worry, kids! I'm here to rescue you. I'm a super hero. Sorry. Elsa: Children! Your only weakness! Firebird: Elsa! We can still work this out! You have every reason to live! Your father still loves you!
  23. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I've decided that I don't care for Jesus Rock. Don't know what it is, because I like religious country music. But religious rock is just... bad.
  24. Re: "Neat" Pictures WANT!!!! Also, those wings look pretty nice, too.
