  1. Vincent Dimitrios How true-but Vincent's naievety was based on his ability to sense the good in everything,no matter how evil. He'sprobably the only mystic character who would try to redeem Dark Seraph.
  2. HA with +1/2 Variable Advantage I was thinking of giving my namesake character the following Multipower slot High-Speed Blows: 6d6HA +1/2 Variable Advantage(Limited to AP, Area Effect (One Hex)(Accurate),Autofire,1.5 *Knockback)(+3/4),Indirect (+1/4) (can use either hands or feet),Negated by Purple Morganite(-1/4)*,Hand Attackl(-1/2),Must use at full power (-1/4) (Active Points: 60,Real Cost: 30). My main question is, is this Power too effective for most campaigns? *Purple Morganite is an artificial substance designed by the mad scientist who transformed him to impair and weaken the character should he ever escape her control.
  3. Redeemable Villains There's one villainess that hasn't been mentioned - Mentalla. As portrayed in Classic Enemies (I don't have CKC yet) she seemed to have at least the potential for redemption. What if Doctor Destroyer had sent her to infiltrate a hero group instead of Eurostar? Remember she was portrayed as the only member of Eurostar who tried to avoid killing.
  4. Classic Organisations Actually,Classic Organisations featured the future villains Red Doom starting a mammoth super-brawl in Sanctuary (which forced Santuary to relocate to Destruga) and killing the defected heroine Tokomak and Sanctuary's disguise expert. When the truth came out,the Soviet superteams were split up into the heroic New Guard (led by Ivan) and Red Doom the ruthless supervillain team led by Colonel Vasalov (who was wearing the Tokomak armor). It also presented new versions of DEMON and CLOWN.
  5. More new spells I like the new spell described above and I have two new spells. Both are only 30 Active Points, and both have the following Limitations:Gestures & Incantations (combined -1/2 value) plus Requires a Magic skill roll(-1/2) (for a total Limitation value of -1). Improved Shield :+10 PD/ED Force Field,Hardened vs.AP(+1/4),at 1/2 END Cost (+1/4) (30 Active,15 Real). Mystic Flight : 10" Flight at 1/2 END Cost (+1/4),Usable Underwater(+1/4) (30 active,15 Real)
  6. New Spell: Mystic Web Mystic Web: $d6 Entangle,Transparent to caster's attacks(+1/4),1/2 END Cost (+1/4); Gestures(-1/4),Incantations (-1/4),Requires a Magic Skill Roll (-1/2) (60 active,30 Real)
  7. Energy Lance Energy Staff :6d6 HA,+1/2 Variable Advantage (Only Affects Desolid,AP,Ranged or Zero END Cost)(+3/4), Variable SFX (+1/4) (60 Active Points) Full Phase to Activate (-1/4),Incantations (-1/4),Hand Attack (-1/2) (Limitation Total -1, 30 Real points). This spell enables the caster to create a staff of pure energy that can cause either flame OR electrical damage, and can be thrown like a spear. It can also affect Desolid targets or carve through an opponents defenses,or used as a normal staff ( i.e. the spell doen't drain the casters Endurance).
  8. Schoolgirl Vampire I'd recommend reading "Carmilla" by J.Sheridan Le Fanu as well as Dracula by Bram Stoker. Here's why: (1) If your vampire can shapeshift,I'd recommend she shift into a cat form. Not only will most people ignore her,Carmilla could shapeshift into a cat,so there is a precedent in the literature. (2) In pre-Nosferatu vampire stories, vampires had no powers in daylight, but could move about normally. In game terms all non-innate Powers (with the exception of her blood drain) should be bought with the Limitation Doesn't work in Daylight .Of course, her Characteristics,Skills,Talents and Perks are unaffected (so she can buy Combat Luck that works in daylight. After all, that's what Dracula did).
  9. TV Shows I'd go back in time and record all the lost episodes of Doctor Who.I'd also record the first three Quatermass series & The Crawling Eye ,plus the TV adaptation of The Day Of The Triffids. I'd also go to as many of the fifties and sixties horror & science fiction movies that I could.
  10. Revised Lifetap Spell Quite right- I was trying to keep the spell relatively simple & I didn't have my copy of FREd with me at the time. And,if I add that suggested Limitation, the Real Cost of the spell drops to 26 points.
  11. Lifetap as a BODY Transfer Here's how I'd build the Lifetap spell : Lifetap:1d6BODY Transfer(24 points Maximum,)Ranged(+1/2) ,Recovers 5BODY/2 months(+2),Usable By One Other(+1/4) (90 Active),Gestures & Incantations (-1/2 together) ,Requires an Opposed Necromancy Skil Roll at -4 (-1/2),Reduced Range(10")(-1/4),Useless when on Holy Ground or vs. Blessed Targets(-1/2),Not vs. Plants or Nonliving targets(-1/4). Real Cost: 30 points.
  12. RCMP It's short for Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
  13. Re:Tyrannon I forgot to mention that the dependency forces Tyrannon to conquer a dimension quickly (making it part of his home dimension of Thulkos) or leave.
  14. Tyrannon OK,here's a brief synopsis of Tyrannon,The Tyrant Of A Thousand Forms.. He's described in Mystic Masters (the 4th Edition sourcebook with the Bill Willingham cover).Essentially he has conquered his home dimension and has now set his sights on Earth. As you've realised he's very powerful, but most of that power is spent on the Duplication power, and he is dependent on the light of the Kae Linn (imprisoned sun goddesses with healing powers) to maintain his many forms.
  15. Healing & Regeneration In FREd,an attack power that does no STUN has a -3/4 limitation "Does no STUN" applied to it.Applying this Limitation to the form of Regeneration described in a prior post, the real Cost of Regeneration drops back to 10 points.
  16. I also think I should change the Destruction writeup as well.As written, everything within a 1" radius is attacked by a 1d6 Continuous RKA.As the effect applies as long as Destruction has transformed into her Aspect.it's bought to 0END,and is probably Persistent as well. She probably has bought it with Personal Immunity,or she would take damage if she lost her medallion. Incidentally, after rechecking the book,Plague's Multipower attacks ARE bought with the Piercing advantage. In my 4th Edition writeup,I just converted them to AP attacks.
  17. Black Death Incidentally, after looking over these old writeups,if I ever convert them to Fifth Edition, there will be changes made, especially to the monsters.(I think I'll change the Black Death's KA's to a single 2d6NND KA ,Does BODY, at 0 END,Half Damage at Range (-1/4)).
  18. Piercing Problems In The Black Death writeup, I changed both KAs to 3d6 Double AP KAs at zero END.That was the only writeup with Piercing I could find in the book.
  19. 50th Post Now lets see; once I send this message,my title should change to "Skilled Normal". To keep this post on topic, I also have the Seven Horsemen, and 4th Edition conversions for all the main characters in that book, plus The Corolis Effect, the Champions mini-series, & The Voice Of Doom.Anyone interested?
  20. Number of Posts This is my 49th post. One more till I change my title to Competent Normal. And incidentally,I also have The Corolis Effect and the Champions mini-series.If you wish to update the Dr. Arcane write-up,the version in The Corolis Effect is missing the Computer Programming skill.(Which originally cost 5 points in Champions.) Furthermore,if Dr. Arcane was accurately described in the comic,a Fifth Edition version would use the "Astral Form" type of Duplication, not conventional Desolidification.
  21. Matilda May I only know of Matilda May from Lifeforce. In it,she played the beautiful space vampire, and spent most of the film in the nude.
  22. Voice of Doom Voice of Doom is well worth getting. It features a NPC team that has been targeted for death by a ruthless supervillain team (the V.O.I.C.E of the title). These varlets are as ruthless as Eurostar, and, unlke Fiacho & Co.,could pop up anywhere on the planet.(I should really update my 4th Edition revisions to FREd).
  23. 4th Edition Sourcebooks Actually,I enjoyed Allies. Not only did it introduce several possible allies,it introduced several possible foes: (1) The Aryan.A Neo-Nazi trying to be a hero. That's right-a facist who realized that Nazism needed a new look. (2)The Flashmen.Fakers-jerks who take the credit from more deserving heroes. (3)Zen Scorpion.A former member of Zencorp's Zen Team, this guy pretends to be a "honorable supervillain".This is a lie,as is his entire background. (4)Interference.The unluckiest hero on Earth. I can also recommend Enemies:Assemble.Any book that can make Foxbat a dangerous opponent deserves to be read.
  24. Supervillains I generally agree with the list of supervillains. However there are some great villains that nobody has mentioned. Here they are: (1)The Ultra-Humanite.The first comic-book super-villain,and ranks with the Red Skull in ruthlessness. Also one of the smartest,as he pioneered the old "villain body-snatching " technique after his old crippled body was killed battling the Golden Age Superman. His brain was finally killed by the cursed vigilante Crimson in JSA) after he took control over the Badhnesian Thunderbolt and used it to conquer the world. (2)The Red Skull. The epitome of the Nazi menace.Still active,he's behind the whole "Red Zone" storyline currently running in Avengers. (3)The Dread Dormammu. The mightiest occult menace in the Marvel Universe. He ranks up with Darkseid in terms of sheer power and influence.Plus that flaming head of his makes a great visual statement. (4)Umar The Unrelenting.Contrary to what one poster has said,Umar is just as great a villain as her brother, the Dread Dormammu. The epitome of the Femme Fatale. (5)Mephista,the daughter of Mephisto. The epitome of the dutiful daughter, she may only have a fraction of his power, but that fraction puts her on Dr. Strange's power level. An interesting mix of naviety and raw sexuality. (6)Zom.So powerful and destructive,Eternity had to bind him in a mystic amphora, after he was bound and his eyes covered by a magic item.As his power dwarfed Umar's,Dr. Strange was forced to free him to save Earth from Umar.It took The Living Tribunal to re-imprison Zom. (7)Baron Mordo. Before he developed cancer,he was Dr. Strange's most implacable foe. (8)Baron Zemo (both of them). The ultimate evil aristocrats. The father killed both Bucky & the original Citizen V,while the son captured Avengers Mansion, and almost conquered the world. (9)Golgoth from the Empire comic book. This murderous megalomaniac will do anything to control the world, and ,unlike Doom, really wants to do so. (10)Kaluu.The Ancient One's power-crazed former mentor,he was forced to banish himself to a distant dimension, until the battle between Dormammu and Eternity enabled him to return.Dr. Strange was only able to defeat him by using the Book Of the Vishanti's ultimate defense-the invulnerable book can Reflect all magical attacks back upon the caster!!!!
