  1. Re: King of the Mountain Fan Request I wouldn't mind seeing some of his female co-stars featured in homage: Jonni Angel, Kitten with a Whip, Miss Magnolia, Madonna Dolores, etc.
  2. Re: Succeeding The Blood What if the Wormlings' designed purpose is to procreate and infest the world? So proximity to one another causes them to build energy but prolonged proximity leads to a birthing that expends all that energy leaving them easy prey? You would have both a reason for them to congregate and also a reason why they separate. By not littering as often as possible they are actually rebelling against their creators for their own selfish desires. It sounds almost like you want a family of Whatleys for HERO.
  3. Re: Champions Auxiliary And here I thought he became this.
  4. Re: I remember when you could stop a train Yeah, just about anybody can stop a train but can you do it in time is the crucial factor.
  5. Re: Order of the Stick It's hard having Awful Good party members.
  6. Re: I remember when you could stop a train KB resistance + STR devoted to resisting KB + movement devoted to resisting KB subtracted from the velocity of the train each segment. Someone digging in their feet I would consider "Running" or "Leaping" towards slowing the train. Just a thought.
  7. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? I was aware of it. PITA. Additions that were made due to changes that caused more problems than they "solved." I thought that was for other game systems.
  8. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? Aids are cumulative up to the maximum capacity of the Aid and, if I'm reading the rules quote Phookz provided correctly, the maximum capacity of all Aids in 5th/6th is only the maximum capacity of the maximum Aid not the sum of the maximum capacities of the Aids applied even if there are varying sources of the Power. That's a patch that makes some small sense in superheroic but breaks down completely in heroic, and really should have been made genre specific or even an Adjustment Power modifier. I'm a little irritated that I can't have a DEMON ritual where the flunkies each perform a 1d6 All Magical Powers Aid on the Morbane, because apprently no matter how many flunkies the most the Morbane is getting is 6pts. Apparently I have to partially limit the Morbanes powers Only in the Presence of 6 Flunkies, Only in the Presence of 66 Flunkies, Only in the Presence of 666 Flunkies, etc. What a PITA. And I still maintain that this evil patch was made necessary by making Adjustment effects persist even if the MP/VPP pool is shifted away from the Adjustment power. Adjustment Powers bought outside of a MP/VPP are cost prohibitive enough to preempt the kind of guff we've talked about before. And, hey, it's still rules legal in 5th/6th for me to have a +STR slot in my MP and a STR Aid slot also so I can still bust it open just not as egregiously.
  9. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? Like Grailknight said two applications of each slot, with an average roll, will apply the maximum Aid. You might get two below average rolls, then you have to apply the slot thrice. If you fail to max out the Aid slot after three rolls, retire the dice. Of course you can stack adjustment powers, just not if they are the same power. Two Bull Strength potions don't make you twice as strong as a bull, but a Bull Strength potion plus a Belt of Giant Strength? Sure, unless all Aid has been made like Healing where only Aids that exceed the greatest amount already applied have any effect. That would be news to me. The problem doesn't lie with Aid, or any adjustment power. The problem is with Multipower/VPP and powers persisting even when the pool is shifted away from that power.
  10. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? It's worse than that. That's potentially 30d6 Aid to STR, or 180. 180! For every member of the team for 96 points. Probably should buy an Endurance Reserve for the END Cost though.
  11. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? Buy the spell outside of a MP/VPP, because it is too abusable to allow it inside and to persist after the reserve is reallocated. Why can't I keep my Force Field up at full even when I shift my MP to Energy Blast? Because that's how a Multipower works.
  12. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? Actually that is how they made Aid work in 5th (and 6th.) The Aided points persist even if the slot or pool is changed to another ability. And it's ridiculously abusable, which is why I use 4th Ed. rules.
  13. Re: Champions Auxiliary We love new questions because that means new players. Ask away, as long as you don't mind getting many, many, many answers. A cavalcade of assistance. The Question Man, also known as TQM, is our Index master and will likely be along soon with links to relevant threads for your question. Lord Liaden is probably the most knowledgeable about the Champions Universe shy of Steve Long himself. Ghost Angel does timely and topnotch reviews of HERO books, so you know exactly what you're getting for your dear coin. Resist any temptation to go to the Non-Gaming Discussion forum. A wretched hive of scum and villainy without a doubt.
  14. Re: Replacing Destroyer with Teleios Have Gigaton and/or Rakshasa either be creations of or perverted by Teleios. They appear to be carrying on the Doctor's works but they are actually advancing Teleios' aims. Dr. Destroyer was so desperate to forestall aging that he took the antigeria treatments that Teleios offered. Zerstoiten dealt with all the biological traps and ensnarements that Teleios coded in, but one. Dr. Destroyer did fall at Detroit but when his corpse unexpectedly arose Teleios was in control.
  15. Re: Make a Green Lantern Oath A terminal spaceman gave me this bling but he never provided the rules to this thing and there's lots of places you can wear a ring So though the Corpsmen wince in fright and my costume's briefs muffle the light Beware my power Prince Albert's Might!
  16. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? It's pretty easy to see from the Adjustment Power changes made in 5th that Steve Long was rudely molested by them in his gaming past and took steps to disallow things that he found abusive. I've not had a similar experience, and I use Adjustment Powers a lot. I've mentioned my Deoptimizer Bomb, that back in the Figured Characteristic days carved 1 Active Point off all primary stats making those Goodman School graduates whimper and gnash their teeth. Buy all your Powers drawing from an electrical based END Reserve and you are 10x as vulnerable to EMPs and magnetic fields can play havoc with your REC. What goes up can come down, and I never allowed Power Defense with a darn good in-character reason. I consider it Adjustment Power crazytalk to allow characters to shift Multipower slots and retain Aided points. Now that's abusive! But I should have been more clear. I did mention that the proposed REC replacement perpetual Aid would be constructed like Healing but I guess it also hinges on retaining some 4th Ed. concepts for Adjustment Powers.
  17. Re: What do you think of Endurance Reserve in 6E? I like it for powers where I can exhaust the reserves of the power, with more flexibility and gradation than Charges gives me, without having to have completely exhausted the character. Credit where credit is due, I got the idea from the writeup of Cyclops in Different Worlds from many, many moons ago.
  18. Re: Are we Ready to Rock? I dunno...are we? What about Lizard Queen as a name for the dragon, riffing off Jim Morrison's Lizard King?
  19. Re: Aid's to Stun/End, do you allow it? I think that if you enforce an AP limit in your game and make sure that all the bells and whistles are actually included rather than assumed it will be fine. The character will be a trickle charger rather than some constantly buffing problem to deal with.
