  1. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. The Hurricane Corps.
  2. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. That is a hero undaunted. So good it made me tingle. Damn.
  3. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Regal, to me, is how Alan Davis draws Captain Britain. Like gravity doesn't weigh him down and the sun is shining just for him, things he takes for granted as divine right. Not only sure of his place in the world but that the world likes having him be a part of it. Paternalistic, but not patronizing, and also noblesse oblige. Someone who can stand akimbo and not be self-conscious, ironic or cheesy.
  4. Re: What if Steve Long is an agent of Empress Istvatha V’han? Yeah, I'm thinking I would want the power to be irresistable to emerald extradimensional dominatrixes. The rest will come as a result.
  5. Re: Your PCs might be overpowered if...
  6. Re: Single Most Powerful Super Hero EVER!!!
  7. Re: Superheat metal Should have just renamed Area Effect as Damage Field, with the field area determined by the specifics of the Advantage. Damage Shield sounds like something that protects.
  8. Re: Order of the Stick Would have been funnier if it was "Spurtycuss," "Svartiqiss,""$p@r+!(u$" and all the various leet spellings and variations on a theme creative gamers fall back on.
  9. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. It's very cool, but it looks more like something an Illithid would cruise around in. Maybe if the manipulatory arms looked more biological, like vines or liands? Someone who loved tank models for the same reason I loved tank models? Awesome.
  10. Re: Superheat metal Sounds to me like a tiny RKA (1 pip or 1/2,) Area Effect, Continuous that only affects those in possession of metal touching flesh and Triggered by those who don't relinquish that metal. Sucks to be those strapped into their metal. Pick up something metal in the radius and trigger the spell. I would say mail might still scorch someone through padding but thick leather, like a smith's apron, should be sufficient protection against this, if I were a GM approving the spell. Or I suppose you could use the Covered rules where everyone in the radius is assumed to have been "hit" but is only damaged if they satisfy the requirements of having metal touching flesh.
  11. Re: Does your California Superhero team need land an island for a base? I would nab a chuck of The Presidio or Fort Point.
  12. Re: What Fantasy/Sci-Fi book have you just finished? Please rate it...
  13. Re: Order of the Stick New one up, and the Starshines do seem to have trust issues.
  14. Re: Superheroes Sponsored by Corporations (Such as the NFL) I had a player who was an actor in Hollywood. He was cast in the role of a power-armored superhero named Ronin and was gifted a functioning suit of armor with all the powers of the movie role. He was also miked up, had several installed video cameras with the studio having the rights to all POV footage and had tracking beacons in the suit so film crews could easily find him and film more footage. The disadvantages of the suit (Watched, Distinctive Features, Reputation: Suit's capabilities well-known) equalled the cost of the advantages so I just handed the armor write up to the player and called it a wash.
  15. Re: Superheroes Sponsored by Corporations (Such as the NFL) And here I was thinking Soldier Field would make a cool superhero codename.
  16. Re: Lucking Into The Plot Almost sounds like a Cosmic VPP under the GM's control that allows Skills also and falls under the descriptor of Luck, or just an extensive suite of skills. Need to find some information in a book and it falls open to the right page (Cramming or floating Knowledge Skill, Speed Reading, Deduction.) Always end up at the right destination even though you don't know where you are going (floating AK.) Your first guess at passwords is often right (Computer Programming.) Lost things or people are not only in the last place you look but often in the first place (Streetwise, Tracking, Concealment, Deduction.) if no one checks your id because of luck, you effectively have a flawless fake id (Perk.) If the person you want to talk to calls you right when you are thinking of them then you have some pretty good help at your fingertips (Contacts.) Ron Stoppable looked clueless and goofy but that was just the SFX for a crazy long and deep set of skills.
  17. Re: Lucking Into The Plot I don't make characters spend points for making my GMing easier. I might make them spend points if their Luck assures the encounter is always something they can handle rather than stumbling into something more than they can deal with. Blue Devil didn't have to pay points to be a weirdness magnet.
  18. Re: Finish the team How about someone named Overseer, with telepathy, clairvoyance and a mental "whip." The name is racially charged, so only in the right group. For another female for the team how about Glory, a spitfire that is a flying flagsuit with somewhat regionally centric ideas. Someone honorable and admirable but utterly convinced that everyone would be better off if The South went its own way.
  19. This can't be right. I'm never the first one to post this stuff but unless I blew my Search roll... Kinda cool and done on a shoestring budget. http://lazyteenagesuperheroes.com/ Crap, some language so if someone italicized could NSFW the title I would appreciate it.
  20. Re: A complete character: discussion and stats from scratch for Champions From the name I visualize a massively muscled former WWE/WWF/WWWTF wrestler who used to be the idol of millions but as age overtook him he was asked to do a heel turn to extend his career. After so many years of being looked up to and admired Rex Ironside couldn't handle the jeers and the boos and went off script, accidentally killing his opponent. The media crucified him and dubbed him Rex Homicide. Losing everything that mattered to him, Rex keeps making one bad decision after another trying to reclaim his former standing. So we have a villain who may have been the hero's childhood hero, "I had your trading cards and lunch box!" and has done some impressive good in the past, raising millions for charities and giving selflessly of himself, who is now debasing himself for anyone who holds out any small chance of glory.
  21. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. That's a funny name. Is she one of the Boston Belateds?
  22. Re: Storn's Art & Characters thread. Is the nurse's name Nightengale?
  23. Re: CU team study: Eurostar Durak, in an homage to his favorite tv show ever, throws turkeys from a helicopter on Thanksgiving Day. "Как Бог мне свидетель, I thought turkeys could fly!" Cincy wouldn't be a bad place to base a strike on Fort Knox. Someone spots the enormity of Durak or Le Sone freaks out while buying a scone and your players notice them and get to backtrack them to their temporary headquarters and foil their plans. A piece that Fiacho covets makes an appearance at the Cincinnati Arts Museum, or a piece that offends him appears at the Contemporary Arts Center. Maybe he has a home in Over-The-Rhine, a little European-ish bolthole for when he wants time alone. Someone on Eurostar turns out to be a Reds or Bengals fan, or is there to root for the other team and heckles one of your players in the stands. Stadiums make awesome localities for brawls, trust me. There is also the Kings if you have someone be a futbol fan. Any university is a great excuse for weird science to be going on that might attract Eurostar's attention. Cincy has some pretty impressive sister cities in the world, like Munich, Taipei and Rome. Perhaps a coordinated strike on all four, for some nefarious reason?
  24. Re: The fine Elven Mithril/Mithral Shirt from the Lord of the Rings movie Yeah, the value of the Real Armor Limitation being absent is proportional to the effects of it being present. If the GM just lets the Limitation languish, "free points" and all, then the players won't give a flip about weightless armor and Mithril is just shiny mail. But if you actually play the checks and balances of armor, Mithril becomes something very special indeed.
  25. Re: Campaign Concept Source: "No Ordinary Family" I'm liking it more and more. The "sidekicks" are way more than just plot entryways, the family feels like a family, they are starting to really get creative with their powers. Even The Watcher, the tk guy, has more going on than just being a remorseless killer.
