  2. Re: Plot device or by the rules I liked the fact that Gardners legs were sticking out from under the table for like what 3 issues. That was GMs discretion. Hawksmoor Giffen Legion Fan
  3. Re: Where is the Physical Manifestation Limitation? That is odd. I never heard of it before getting back into Champions. I know it is in HERO Designer but I can't find it in FRed. More Help?
  4. Re: How Many Points? So far this is what I thought as I was actually "building" the base. As I bought the Enhanced x2 hardened (37 DEF) cells I was thinking that wow this is a nice place to hide from Dr. Destroyer, until the 45 INT DR. D decides to just leave you to rot inside. But Imagine if something follows the team back from a mission and the Squad uses the weapons against it. Or the Smart members of the squad are given Custodian access to the labs? Sure the power dampers are on and a trio of variblaster armed guards are watching you, but you still get the complementary skill roll of the lab. Is that not worth at least a few points? Hawksmoor
  5. Re: STONELOCK- Character For Review That about sums it up Hawksmoor
  6. Hello HEROdom Assembled! I am planning a nice little Suicide Squad game and I have a question. I have a Prison/Base of Operations for the team. Now the trick is that like 90% of the time that the base is even in the game as a setting at all, the PCs are goind to be in the cells or cafeteria. Now the base has all sorts of nifty gadgets, like Gel Cannons (AE1HEX entangles), Sonic Sirens (Flash:hearing AECONE), and Variguns (8d6 EB fully varible SFX), Radio communications, and a massive Forcewall (actually DEF costs END, VISIBLE) Now the question is that the Players are not going to be the ones that control the toys, heck they don't even get free range inside the base. Given that how much of the 530pt BASE should they pay for? Hawksmoor
  7. Re: STONELOCK- Character For Review Interesting character. But, without a background I really can't say much about him. I can see he is a scholar or professor sort, but that is about it. His CON is very low for a brick, Stone does not stun. I would agree with Doug Maccrae that all the special defenses make him not so fun. The Teleport powers are a surprising twist. Almost Marvel-like randomness. Not that random is bad...I LOVED Marvel when I was 12. Give us his background and more helpful stuff will follow. Hawksmoor
  8. Re: EC balance fix Just looked it up in FRed and Damn but you are correct. By the ink on the page you are correct. I am still not going to use that rule though. ECs are constant additions. MP and VPPs are not, in fact VPPs are just unlimited slot MPs anyway. Hawksmoor
  9. Re: Marvel's Rogue It was often the case in our Champions games when I was growing up. You see, Limitations and Disadvantages were not *hit on*. If you took "not in magnetic feilds, and not in High Magic Realms" you were very unlikely to encounter them. If you built a power armor hero you took limitations for the whole shebang (1/2 DCV, One Turn or One full phase set up and OIF). The result was that no one played androids, mentalists, pure mutants or the like. The reason was that you could not get a good limitation out of it, and thus you had few "Active" points to build your PCs. One of the memorable games was where a friend of mine had a Mon-El one off. He was so powerful that the opposition had to include a villian just for HIM to fight. If one of us got in his way...well did you read the Doomsday arc? Remember what he did to everyone? That was us. Hawksmoor -Play balance is good
  10. Re: Character for review. The "Darker" Champions game is mine!! Hawksmoor
  11. Re: Tuesday 04/27/2004 Actually, Vorsch I would use him like a Crimson Guard in SW. A trap as Enforcer suggests. He is a singular entity used to confuse and trip up the heroes as they are just expecting the agents to crumple. Hawksmoor PS Enforcer nice work as always.
  12. Re: EC balance fix I am going to have to check my rules but I *thought* that the -1/2 No Figure Characteristics only applied to Characteristics in MP, not in ECs. The reason was that with a MP the points were shifting around all the freeking time and fiqured could get quite unmanagable and abusive. Hawksmoor -I just don't think that is right. Of course Char in an EC is a frequently GM allowed thing...at least ONE CHAR is often allowed.
  13. Re: Marvel's Rogue Very Interesting Idea GamePhil I would however vote for the VPP though. I vote the simplest solution is always the best solution. 8 billion MFs while being only one power is complex. Plus you have to factor in the combination forms, where she uses the abilities of multiple people. I tended to create my Rogue-one offs by using Transfer delayed return +2 effects EVERYTHING on the SHEET! 4d6 was her total power. I then added +1 to the delayed return and limited it by stating that a full turn had to be maintained for each increment of time over 5 minutes advanced. Her max was a I bought it 100 years. Wrong Vorsh, Rogue gets memories and skills. Transfer should with the +2 get the skills as well. It is in her SFX. Hawksmoor
  14. Re: My House Rules. Comments Welcome This one is simple, and I do believe is how the game is meant to be played. The only problem I have ever had with the HERO system is the requirment to spend points to "buy" commercially available items. Google TAROT and you might come up with some interesting information. So why require a supercomputer? A laptop bought at BESTBUY can do this. Radio communications: Go to Bestbuy again...I hear that NEXTEL has a good deal this week. Again I I think Steve wrote the 5th ED rules and mentioned this. I would like a clarification about to the advantage of the player on .5s. Everything here is quite reasonable and not divergent from my ideas, except the uncontrolled. Did you have some people that abused this ability? And how do you work continuing charges? Hawksmoor More to come.
  15. Re: Sunday 04/25/2004 Steelheart! Wow! I never thought of a FemArmor before. Enforcer. have you found your creativity increasing as you write these guys? Hawksmoor
  16. Re: Machanon, odd request Oh God! I failed my roll! I now want to date Brainy! Hawksmoor
  17. Re: Longest Running Thread EVER That would just be weird. Hawksmoor
  18. Re: A Thread for Random Musings I survived the trip to the US. Importantly so did the twins. Actually, they were really, really good on the flights. Hawksmoor
  19. Re: Character for review. The Newport City references gave it all away. Hawksmoor I might use a verision of Raptor in a upcoming game if you don't mind.
  20. Re: A Thread for Random Musings One and a half hours until an intercontinental flight ALONE with the twins. Nervous? Nah! I'll just take up drinking. The booze is free in Business Class I hear. Hawksmoor -Giving alcohol to babies...Even MightyBec wouldn't do that...would he?
  21. Re: Character for review. Nice. I like the well thought our background. I is interesting to see the competion for the Solo game. Hawksmoor
  22. Re: Changing into Hero Form While on the Highdive at the pool. The Villians attacked as I was in the air and had one phase till impact with the water, and blaster bolts were flying my way. Hawksmoor
  23. Re: Can I have some suggestions on this character? Uncle Samurai Losing the no knockback is an ok idea, but why isn't it "valid"? Oh, because of the Deflection probably. Yes you must lose the no knockback limitation on your MP, you can keep it on your HKAs though. Why lose the MD? It isn't like I have a ton of it... Likely because of the David Spade reference more than anything else. But do check and see if you have purchased the campaign minimum amount for the power. In most games it is 5 points. Less than ten resistent defence in PD or ED will probably equal a dead character. I could see going lower with physical since I have the deflection though. No problems with your defenses. I have three hth levels and 2 overall levels. I don't think there is a problem with this. You want to be skill guy? That is what the overall levels mean...you are good at whatever you put your mind to. Language insults is something that this paticular GM threw my way. Basicly knows how to swear in many many language, but doesn't know how to converse. He can always find a way to insult people and reconise their insults. That is a very cool idea. Call someone a douchbag in Cantonese and a &(#@(&$@%@% in German at the same time. I made it uncommon so he won't kill people in the truckstop for saying the country sucks or something like that. No it is a common situation, he is just moderately concerned by it and can ignore it on an Ego roll according to your description. Very Common, Moderate commitment. If you really want to please me, which you have no reason to, you will check with the GM over your casual killer psych lim. Villians kill. Heroes do not. It is that simple. If you are a casual killer, quite a few fellow heroes would be glad to clean Uncle Samurai's clock and incarcerate him...for a long long time. Better yet take a Physical Lim. that reflects your PC is NUTS: Psychological Instability: Delusional Frequently Greatly Impairing. Hawksmoor
  24. Re: The Authority:What the heck? Umm Batman is Smarter than the rest of them. Combined? Nah! But individually you bet, plus he is ruthless in the application of that intellect. Who else devises ways to bring down your teammates incase they go wrong?
  25. Re: Need Help with a character for Raptors I almost forgot Negative Skill Levels UOO UAA No Range 6c Continuing last 30 minutes for drugs that have negative but no positive effects. Personally, as a Player I would hate this power, becuase the defense is so nebulous. Power Defense subtracts its AP from the Power? Con rolls at -AP/10 to throw off the effects? More thoughts Hawksmoor
