  3. Re: Millennium City walled or not No kidding. Sounds like whiney people just looking for a boogey-man. I wonder which part is oppressive: The fact that since 1998 people have been able to travel at 70 mph without having one wreck, the walkways that allow you to not have to travel on street level (keeping people safer and traffic flowing smoother) or the high-tech displays on buildings that you can watch while travelling around, such as on the people mover? Oh no! There's...technology! Run away!

  5. Re: Concepts you wish your players would play I do like players to play archetypes, but I hate imposing them on my players. It's funny Bengalelf mentions the Native American Archer. I was in a game with a player who played one as well, except he didn't have martial arts. He ONLY had 2d6 RKAs. That was his ONLY attack. It wouldn't have been so bad if he had some skill levels (to do the 'pin' attacks or even shooting the hand), but he had a Code vs. Killing (I *think* Total). That and he didn't spend all his points on his character. It was one of a few characters that he had where he didn't spend all his points, would say he didn't need them all, then complain because he couldn't do anything else.

  8. Re: Help Creating power! Off-hand, I would say give the character Desolidification (with a limitation of not being able to pass through solid objects), possibly linked to Shrinking and/or Damage Reduction. To put out normal fires, a dispel would work, possibly adding a small Area of Effect to it. What do you mean by "enter larger bodies"? Larger bodies of water, or human bodies larger than the character?

  10. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Ooh, gaming for the deaf! We've gone from Captains to captions! Still, feel bad for the guy who was fixin' the shields.
  11. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Nothin'? No one else thought that was funny? Man, you guys suck.
  12. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... On HeroCentral: He focuses not on accuracy, but penetration, as he's unable to find a weakpoint in said jerk. I until I . I showed my wife and she too.
  13. Re: Kirby Monster website! And here I thought this thread was directed at me.
  14. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... All from last night's Fantasy Hero game: To understand the two PCs, mine is a male mountain dwarf who left on less-than-friendly terms (think Korgan Bloodaxe from BG II), the other is a human female rogue, a former pirate whose ship was attacked and destroyed (she's probably the only survivor of her crew). Our adventure has been very much inland and near mountains in fact. We were hired by a well-known man to rescue his son (Alex) who had been kidnapped. As an aside, between the three of us, we had two dice, which I had brought. I couldn't find my dice bag, the GM's son had "misplaced" his, the other player couldn't find hers, and I only managed to find what my cat had played with and "lost" around couches. After rescuing the kid, we're heading back to town, which will take several days. Two men come up the trail, walking horses. Dwarf: Fires crossbow, hits one in the foot. "Stay there!" Rogue: Fires arrow misses. Dwarf: "Hey, Alex, do you recognize them?" The next day, the dwarf hears canine baying sounds off in the distance, back the way we had come. The Mountain Dwarf informs the rogue about this. Rogue: "Do they scent blood like sharks do?" Later Rogue: "It was logical until you corrected me." Later Me: "This is gonna sound strange, but I brought an extra pair of shoestrings."

  16. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... And I find them very amusing! I'd like to play one myself; but, I don't know if I could pull it off.
  17. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... I'd rep you on a couple of those, but they're already inflating your post counts.
  18. Re: new spin on Justice League Maybe he was a fence.
  19. Re: Millennium City walled or not What appears to be a wall is actually the Millennium Loop. It is detailed under Chapter 3, Transportation sub heading Driving on page 35. All roads lead to the gates, which may look like a mini-fortress or a comic book parking lot. "Furthermore, only chipped cars can drive on the Millennium Highway (a.k.a. 'the Loop'), the freeway running along the perimeter of the city, where a driver relinquishes direct control of his car to a massie computer located in City Center next door to City Hall. The computer keeps traffic zipping along at a standard 70 miles per hour...." - Millennium City, p. 35 It goes on to mention that since the Loop has been operating (1998), there hasn't been an auto accident nor a loss of vehicle control. They are successfully working on such things in California, I do believe, though it hasn't been implemented to the masses; it's still in production.
  20. Re: DC's Best "Bricks" As noted previously, DC tends to have multi-talented ("impure" is such an IHA word ) "bricks" as opposed to "solely a brick." The sole bricks I would include: Kalibak (I think he's the greatest brick) Captain Marvel, Black Adam (the rest of the Marvel family are just clones) Big Barda, Lashina (in her "Duchess" guise in Suicide Squad) The rest, in no particular order: Orion Solomon Grundy Gorilla Grodd (c'mon, he's an ape!) Lobo (he was great when he came out, but then they just overused him) The mutli-talented bricks that I would leave out would be: Superman, Valor/Mon El, Supergirl, Superboy, supercousins, superpets, superkids, Bizarro, etc. Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter, B.I.O.N., Captain Atom, The Atom (Golden Age, I believe) Hmm, that's all I can think of now, though I was sure I had more in my head.
  21. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Q: So what would happen if a male celestial body impacted the black hole of Gravitar? A: There'd be a new Milky Way!
  22. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... Heh, very cute. Is that princess "chief" or princess "chef" though?
  23. Re: [interest in an online game?] Avengers: Generation 3 :sigh: I see this thread today and everything's been chosen. Well, if people drop out, I'd be happy to put in an application. By the way, could you tell us the archetypes these characters are? I'm guessing Iron Girl is like Iron Man and Arachne is like Spiderman and looking on HeroCentral, Banner is like Captain America, but what about the rest? (Some of us haven't read Marvel titles in a decade or so. )
  24. Re: The astonishing powers of Kelvarite! Interesting thought, Hermit. As for Kelvarite, does anyone have a list of which NPCs in the CU have their powers because of it? (And the books they're in, of course.) I don't think I've ever seen a PC with a Kelvarite write-up, but if I see some examples, I might just make one of my own. And wait around for another game to open up to put him in.
  25. Does purchasing a VPP with no limitations allow you to use any sfx at will, or are you restricted to one sfx? If you are restricted to one sfx, what is the difference between having the VPP with no limitations and one with the -1/4 limitation "Slightly Limited Class"? For example, -1/4 "Only for Cosmic powers." In essence, I'm trying to create a cosmic entity character who has a VPP with the +2 Cosmic Advantage (no skill roll required and changing powers as a 0 phase) who can do things shoot an Energy Blast of Fire one phase, an EB of Ice the next, while having a "Cosmic" force field. Would buying the VPP with +2 (and no limitations) cover that, or would I need to purchase the "variable SFX +1/2"?
