  1. I think you're all set with Duplication + Mind Link. I'd put a limitation on the duplication: Only one of them can act at a time to reflect the idea that either I'm driving my teleprescence unit (so I can't take actions) or I'm getting a cold one (and my teleprescence unit can't act, because I'm not controlling it). You might also want to put a limitation on the mind link to make it (potentially) tappable if it's supposed to be a radio link. Of course, I've never seen any ep of Kim Possible so I don't know how the show actually did their unit.
  2. That'd be OCV + Modifiers + Die Roll = (DCV + 10) If you used this, you'd probably precompute everything's DCV + 10 for reference.
  3. Along the lines of planted evidence: she could use the DNA samples to artificially inseminate some poor, downtrodden member of society. Who will naturally sue (very publically, of course) for child support. Naturally, the Hero's never seen this women. So he'll submit to a paternity test to prove his innocence.
  4. Anime holds (at least) two examples of Sci-Fi Planet of Men: Vandread - they don't spend much time there though; all the action is on a starship from the Planet of Women with 3 (I think) men. Naturally, hilarity ensues. Saber Marionette J - all men on the planet are clones/variants of the 6 male surivors of an otherwise-failed colony. People create Marionettes (female androids) for 'company'. These Marionettes are universally personality free. Except for 3 very unusual ones, which naturally latch onto Our Hero. Hilarity ensues. (This series also features the most flamingly gay character I think I've ever seen. Whose naturally after Our Hero). Also, Aliens 3 should probably count as a Planet of Men story. Edit: I forgot to add: a Sci-Fi Planet of Men also has a consistency problem, anyway. If you've got the tech to clone people, you could almost certainly take the X chromosome from two different guys and 'clone' out a woman, after all. The Planet of Women doesn't suffer from this problem, so it's somewhat more plausible.
  5. I might go with Invisible, with a visible limitation Seriously! The effect is that you can't see the character--you see something specific to you. It'd be a pretty big limiter (doesn't provide any OCV penalties for one thing). Doesn't the Hal Jordan Spectre thing do this as well?
  6. Actually, I did it wrong: I was duplicating the entire base character, not just the 275pt cost. Silly me, that's the 4th edition way. 100pts is the right value (Always on doesn't really apply here; it's replaced by the cannot recombine -0 limitation for duplication). Cool! I was thinking of Crows then (although I've never heard any of the 3 Raven flock names before).
  7. Well, it's the name of a martial art usable only by cyborgs, so I guess so
  8. Not that I know German [q-dropped it 'cause I suck at languages] but you could use Panzer Kunst (from Battle Angel Alita). And damn, a lot of people have replied while I was trying to remember this...
  9. That seems reasonable to me, except that the Conspiracy of Ravens base form should be 409 pts for 31--or 32--275pt duplicates, can't recombine, inherent. (note that always on is usable here). So, you have just enough points in Multiform as is. BTW, wouldn't that be Murder of Ravens?
  10. Better: FREdEx! (Fifth rules edition, expanded) And I agree that binder format would be bad. All my Monstrous Compendiums also got bent (misaligning the rings), which meant that all the pages tore. OTOH, if each page is in it's own clear protector (like some Star Fleet Battles guys do--1000+ individual sheet protectors! and you thought *we're* obsessive) it'll work fine. But I can't imagine that happening. Besides, if you want FREd in binders, I bet a copy shop can slice and punch it for you.
  11. Hurrah! (would that every fantasy tale, etc. had such...)
  12. Genre package deals? not a bad idea at all... For Four-color, I'd think PSL with the Pulling the Punch manoveur would be good (to make it free).
  13. I'm going to have to agree that dropping STUN entirely is too radical. However, FH5 did have another suggestion I liked quite a bit: treat all KAs as having reduced penetration on the STUN portion. So, a 2d6 KA that rolled out as 7 BODY, 21 STUN would instead do 7 BODY, 10 STUN, 10 STUN. This would reduce the excessive STUN output of KAs against Heroic opponents (since you get to apply defenses twice) without making it impossible to knock someone out. IIRC, it was only applied to KA, not to regular attacks but I can't remember what page of FH it was on.
  14. 2d6+1 RKA, 10 Recoverable Charges (+1/4) (44 ap) plus +1 RMod (3 pt Penalty Skill Level) = 47 AP. (I'm assuming you were having trouble with the Active Cost, which isn't immediately obvious)
  15. Re: Elemental Control: My Take Hmmm, how about Aid on EC as follows: all powers in the EC get aided by 1/2 the amount of the aid. So, if you had a Flame EC with RKA, Damage Sheild and Flight and were hit with a 20pt aid, each of the powers would be increased by 10 pts. However, the Aid would half to be able to effect all of the powers or it effects none of them. An Aid bought 'Any one fire power' would apply (the EC is in effect '1' fire power) but an Aid to 'any one movement power' would not (because 2 of the slots aren't movement powers). In effect, aiding an EC only requires the 'any one power level', not the 'all powers at once'. Any thoughts?
  16. Oh Definitely! And just to show off Hero Designer: Hero Designer v2: (Total: 8 Active Cost, 2 Real Cost) Keeps Track of all your characters Eidetic Memory (5 Active Points); Only to keep track of HERO characters Power loses almost all of its effectiveness (-2), OAF Bulky Fragile (Focus: Computer; -1 3/4) (Real Cost: 1) plus Get all the math right Lightning Calculator (3 Active Points); Only computes HERO Math Power loses almost all of its effectiveness (-2), OAF Bulky Fragile (Focus: Computer; -1 3/4) (Real Cost: 1)
  17. Re: Pokémon HERO NSG already has good suggestions for most, but I'll chip in on this one: A VPP would be the normal way to do this, especially if the character can reapetedly use the power last used against them. However, if the Mirroring character can only do this once, buy it as Missile Defletion: Mirror Move: Missile Deflection (Any Ranged Attack), Missile Reflection, Uncontrolled (+1/2) (60 Active Points); Side Effects (Still takes any appropriate damage from the attack), Side Effect occurs automatically whenever Power is used (-1), Extra Time (mirrored attack must be taken on next phase) (Delayed Phase, -1/4) Uncontrolled lets the character 'reflect' without using a phase (allowable in this case because of the side effect) The Side effect casuse the Mirroring character to be effected by the attack as usual (they will take damage if the attacker actually hit, for instance) The extra time is to reflect that the Mirror character has to fire the mirrored attack on his phases, not on the attacker's.
  18. Man, and people think our evolution debates are heated But I do like this idea; you might even try making Orcs in some way actually 'the superior race'; maybe they are a truly warlike race (many combat advantages)--too warlike, they collapsed into endless civil war allowing other races to devolve and arise?
  19. I don't have an issue with the complexity of HERO; it's good complexity-the ability to model nearly anything without new rules. The reason I reverse the math comes from an empirical observation: switching from D&D 2.0 to 3.0 made it both easier and faster for people to roll to hit. The only reasons I can figure is that: -it's easier/faster for people to add than subtract (almost certainly true) -it's easier for people to roll and see what they hit than figure out what they need to roll and then roll. (probably). Both of these should apply as well to HERO as AAD&D. So, math reversals for me and my crew. YMMV, past performance is no guarantee of future results, all predictions false or your money back, etc.
  20. I'd consider #4 true of all constructs. Just because it uses 'safe' powers doesn't mean it's a safe construct. After all, in a standard Champs game 16d6 EB probably shouldn't be allows (too big!) but it's a fully legal, #1 power. Essentially, anything a player builds really ought to be 'with GM's approval'. The yield/stop markers are just there to mark things which are especially likely to be trouble. Naturally, GM's shouldn't power trip on their players; let'em build cool things! (as long as they don't just munch out!)
  21. My thought: it's just going to be expensive. Mindlink: use the 'Psychic Bond' adder to represent the fact that the Darkfriends can't break free of the bond. Permanent Mind Control: the way to do this is Spirit Transform I'd say. Make it heal 'if target redeems himself'. That way, they can't make breakout rolls or otherwise escape your power. Attacking the psionic attackers: Ugh. Sounds like Ego Attack, Damage Sheild, Usably By Others (lots of others), at Range, Transdimensional, BOECV (so that it can get LOS from Mind Link). If you want to be able to attack a target through a minion, you'd need Clairsentience, BOECV linked to Mindlink. Alternately: Use Duplication. Give the master bad guy a Duplication power (with 75% different powers) that effectively adds his psionic powers to the target (and makes them his minions, of course). This way, you'd still need the mind links and Spirit Transforms, but not the wacky Damage Sheild or Clairsentience. In either case, give the master villain Speed Reading for his Mental sense, so he can actually keep track of the input from all of his minions at once.
  22. I for one intend to use a 3d6+ system; IMExperience, adding is much easier (and faster) than subtracting for most people, especially after 10pm (or after the 8th hour of playing). And for people being converted from d20, it's much easier to explain. My system in a nutshell: Standard Skills: 3d6 + STAT/5 + Levels Background Skills: 3d6 + (Active points in skill) + Levels Familiarity: 3d6 - 1 In each case, the target is 12. For Combat, it's 3d6 + OCV + Levels, and the target is DCV + 10. Naturally, the bonus (for skill rolls) and DCV + 10 would be pre-computed. [Note that all of this is mathematically the same as the usual way] Derek: I like this KA-as-advantage very much, and will be using that, as well...
  23. Probably 'The Ethics of Madness' (short story), involving a paranoiac who ends up leaving the galaxy entirely in a ramjet. He used Bussard Ramjets a lot; they play a part in Protector, The Gift from Earth, A World out of Time, and the Ringworld Trilogy.
  24. I've actually been in a game with a character like this; he was 'The REAL man' He also had a psych lim where he had to take the hit, all the time. So he'd jump on bombs about to go off even if it wasn't needed, jump out of planes sans parachute even if there was one available, and so on. I'd call this kind of character a subtype of Brick: the Slab!
  25. So long as Nighthawk doesn't bogart the cheetos, everything's gonna be all right Actually, I like the 7-11 superbase idea. Very nice! It even has the advantage that if supervillains ever discover the truth, it's probably going to be pretty easy to evacuate (not too many normals present at any one time). The only downside I can see is that if it is also a gas station (and most are) then that represents a real hazard. I'm thinking that renting a unit in an typical industrial park (the kind that are just long sheet metal buildings divided into half a dozen businesses) would be better. Plenty of reason for people to show up/depart at all hours. Plus, you can make the team vehicle a white cargo van (or panel truck); the driver/henchmen just drives from the 'business' to the scene with the costumes in the back, they hop out and he drives on. With a little gimmicry (rotating license plates, and maybe quick-change logos) it'd be incredibly hard to backtrack the truck...
