  1. If, and only if, you have a magic dagger that can, once thrown, split itself into multiple tiny daggers. And presumably reconstitute itself when you retrieve them all. Lucius Alexander The word is, palindromedary. Spread the word.
  2. Yeah, I got that I think. But here's the part I don't get. It sounds like you're saying that you will take a number from the MERP game, divide it by 5, and get a quantity, call it X. Then the character spends from 1 to 4 pts on a Life Support: Immunity to X Diseases or Poisons (filling in X with whatever the actual number is.) Then when the character is exposed to a poison or disease, they get a random roll of some kind to see if it's one they are immune to. If so, they can record it by name and the character is ever after immune to that specific thing. If not, I guess you have to record that too, as "NOT Immune to ____" In any case, once they hit that maximum number of immunities, that's it; they're not immune to any other poisons or diseases. If that's not what you're saying, I don't know what you are saying; and if that IS what you are saying, I think it strange. Lucius Alexander And that's the opinion of someone who thinks a palindromedary is pretty normal.
  3. Here is an example Friendly Bouncy Bubbles: (Total: 56 Active Cost, 19 Real Cost) Resistant Protection (5 PD/5 ED) (Impermeable, Protect Carried Items), Does Knockback (+1/4), Usable Nearby (+1), Grantor pays the END whenever the power is used, Grantor can take back power at any time (56 Active Points); Side Effects, Side Effect occurs automatically whenever Power is used (Side Effect affects both character and recipient of Power's benefits; See Notes; -1 1/2), Costs Endurance (-1/2) (Real Cost: 19) For an END cost of 5 per phase, the character may enclose self and any "nearby" allies (I think the rule says within 10 meters, but was intended to be flexible in defining "nearby") in a bubble of protective force. The bubble protects carried and worn items but prevents a protected person from picking up or manipulating items or Grabbing another character (Side Effects.) Forceful physical contact causes the bubble to deform slightly then "snap back" (knockback) hurling BOTH the protected person and whatever was in contact with them in opposite directions; so if anyone grabs the protected person, or the protected person grabs someone else, roll BOD for the STR used and apply that s meters of knockback on BOTH parties. Whoever initiated the grab, if they are aware of this effect, can decide the directions, but each must move a direction opposite the other. In the case of punching, stabbing, shooting, blasting, etc. just add the PD and ED on top of the character's other defenses. If you can describe exactly what you are trying to do and how you see it working, I might try again. Or you can take this and work from it to make something closer to your own vision. Lucius Alexander Excuse me, I have to call a man about a palindromedary
  4. First, hit the "More Reply Options" button, which you will find to the lower right when you start a post. Then look down and you should find below the window you're typing in a place that says "Attach Files" and a button saying "Browse." Hit Browse. This should take you to your own computer. Find the picture you want in your own files and hit "open." That should bring you back to looking at the window you type in. Look down again and further down than the Browse button is one that says "Attach This File." Hit that. A version of the picture should appear on a new line over where it says "Attach Files" and under the typing window. To the right, it says "Add to Post." Hit that. You will see a line appear in the typing window that is enclosed in [] and says "attachment=" etc. This is your picture, and if I remember correctly, it will appear in your post in the same position that the line appears in the typing window. 5. They get Immunity to Disease in General for 2 pts? How did they do that? I'm confused and I don't know what you are doing here exactly. I could be wrong about what "Mentalism" means in this context, but if it includes things like Telepathy, Mental Illusions, or Mind Control, you might want to use Mental Defense rather than Power Defense. If Mentalism includes such things and ALSO includes Drains, Transformations, etc. you might want to house rule that Mental Defense protects against those because they still have the "special effect" of Mentalism. 6. The Cabin in the Hundred Acre Wood Choose your destroyer, Pooh - will it be heffelumps or woozles? Lucius Alexander Or pslindromedaries?
  7. Not meant to count against the total, but Twisted Hand seems the sort to have a network of agents. They are called The Open Hands as a propaganda move against the hero Atomic Fist: "Where his symbol is the clenched fist of violence, we will respond with open hands" said the Twisted Hand. Their motivations range from those of simple mercenaries with skills the Twisted Hand needs to those of fanatics who wholeheartedly believe that He Who Holds the Hand of Fate will lead them into a glorious future to those of victims of intimidation or extortion who obey out of sheer fear. Their functions are just as diverse, and despite the name "Open Hands" many of his minions are not at all open about their allegiance... Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says you have to hand it to that guy, Twisted Hand.
  8. Florida Man, Florida Man, does anything a sane man wouldn't.... Lucius Alexander Is "Florida Man bites palindromedary" news?
  9. Brewster Gold's Millions Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says, hasn't that already been done?

But only if you happen to already be on a military base where the soldiers are. So, not so much calling up an army, as taking command of an army that's already there. How much is the Perk cost for Rank: General? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary says oh yeah? You and whose army?
  11. Ha! What makes you think I am hoping for experiences with farm cuties? Uh...I mean, how do you propose to get me "hopped up on experimental pharmaceuticals?" Lucius Alexander The palindromedary darkly mutters that spiking Lucius Alexander's tea sounds like a job for Florida Man....

That's what I'd usually take it to mean, but.... Somehow that doesn't seem to make sense in this context. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary thinks it might mean "Over Powered" which does make sense in context....
  13. You don't need my permission to be offended. If it makes you feel better, go ahead, it's your choice. If you want to pretend that it's not your choice, that's another choice you can make too; I can't force you to not pretend. You can blame me for the choices you make, but that is lying. If you actually believe I am to blame for choices you make than you are lying to yourself successfully. I regret this, but again, I can't prevent it. Lucius Alexander Not much the palindromedary can do about it either.

What I meant to say was: I have absolutely no idea what "OP" stands for or means. Will you please tell me? Lucius Alexander I'm pretty sure it doesn't mean "Overworked Palindromedary"

At that rate, by the time you get to the enlisted ranks you have a squadron. More to the point, Advantages and Limitations aside, and speaking generally (ha) every 1 pt spent on Summoning the general gets you 5 pts of general, who can spend those for 25 pts of colonel, who can spend those for 125 of major, meaning you get a really major return on that initial investment of 1 pt. And at 625 pts in the captain for just 1 pt the original summoner spent, you can get Captain America. Nesting point breaks have an exponential effect. Like buying a Follower and having the follower buy a Base and having the Base buy a Computer, which I believe is explicitly forbidden. Now, there can be drawbacks to the kind of Summoning you talk about - it takes time for each summonee to summon the next summonee, passing orders down the line eats up a task at each level and runs the risk of your intentions being garbled or deliberately subverted, etc - so I suppose it's possible I'd allow something like this. But it definitely has potential to be unbalancing. I wouldn't blame someone for saying "no way" and not even considering it. Lucius Alexander Summon Palindromedary
  17. Wooden you know it, the personification of the abstract idea of disorder comes lumbering onto the scene. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary is sure we saw that coming
  18. Sometimes I think I'd like to see a rule about FORGETTING Skills and maybe other abilities. Someone who musters out of the military with a couple Combat Skill Levels with small arms may not still have them after ten years of once a month target practice with no more at stake than the price of a drink. Lucius Alexander On the other hand I can't imagine ever forgetting my palindromedary
  19. Well thank you for being willing to share what you do remember of it. Lucius Alexander 25 years ago I met my first palindromedary
  20. Often in Hero the question is "how do you WANT it to work?" You don't want to force a player to spend a bundle on something that won't come up often as helpful, nor to spend a pittance on something that will be useful on a regular basis. Lucius Alexander How much for that palindromedary?
  21. My solution to that is to buy Running down as SPD is bought up. So if you want a character who has SPD 6 but only runs as fast as a normal, buy Running down to 4 meters. Your net ground speed is now the same as a "normal" person. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary observes a sign of the times: SPEED LIMIT: 12
  22. I'd like to point out that even if an immortal character's memory is good, old knowledge might simply no longer be accurate. Things change over time even in a fantasy world. Just something to keep in mind. As for how to represent an immortal's store of lore, a generic Knowledge Skill as has been mentioned is good, or a special Detect: Answer to Question or Detect: Information could be created, or using the Perk: Computer Access to represent the character's own "memory banks." A lot depends on just how often you want it to come up and how useful you want it to be. Something like Eidetic Memory with No Conscious Control puts it all in the hands of the Game Operations Director, but the character could know almost anything that they could hypothetically have learned over the centuries. Lucius Alexander KS: Palindromedary Lore
  23. Naked Advantage: Personal Immunity to Invisibility. Then an Advantage of Usable by Others on the Naked Advantage. Lucius Alexander I'm not invisible, I'm just hiding behind the palindromedary
  24. "Now get on your flying boat and go stop a crazy Dwarf Vampire from committing election fraud." This is the kind of thing we play role playing games for. The crazy awesome stuff that even the guy who runs the game probably wasn't expecting to be what would happen. Lucius Alexander The palindromedary asks if that's not what we live life for?
  25. Is one from Marvel, one from DC, a requirement? Lucius Alexander The palindromedary wonders if a chimerical beast is an animalgam
