  1. Re: Building a Precog "I knew I was going to need that" - VPP Gadget Pool of things person could lay their hands on if they knew they were going to need them latter.
  2. Re: Ideal: Basic Villiancy To answer your original questions 1) Blackwyrm games has published multiple supplements while Silverback Press has had a successful kickstarter but have yet to actually publish a book. Also, I suspect that they will be focused on their LARP for a while. Either way they both use crowd funding (Indiegogo for Blackwyrm , Kickstarter for Silverback), so you should probably expect to have to sell your product to the public before you get to publish it. 2) Villains, Vandals, and Vermin had 59 villains and seemed to be a good length to me 3) The appendix approach you mentioned sounds good. This will GMs ideas on how to use them in a CU campaign without tying the characters too closely to intellectual property which you don't own.

  4. Re: Superhero team Leader: PC or NPC?
  5. Re: Superhero team Leader: PC or NPC? NPC mentor/benefactor/government liaisons are good. However the team leader should be a PC. Not all teams have to have a leader though. As long as the characters have shared goals and the players can agree upon each other roles, no formal or even informal leader is required. Characters can just take the lead naturally as circumstances fall under their field of expertise.
  6. Re: Virtual Reality addiction? My futures usually allow people to go real places virtually. This is done with multiple cameras and software that extrapolates the view pretty much any location at the site. People in the places being visited interact with both the real and virtual visitors by way of augmented reality. This allows a group of PCs to be in different parts of world, but still be together in a place for an investigation, meeting or an adventure.
  7. Re: Film Noir Hero Very cool!
  8. Re: When IS the future, exactly? A dystopian world were Big Brother watches your every move and brutally crushes your hope and individuality. Thank you for playing.
  9. Re: Film Noir Hero I can understand wanting to have a more succinct title. I'm just worried about linguistic drift. Actual film noir is special enough to warrant its own term, so I feel distinction are worth making.
  10. Re: Film Noir Hero Are you certain that the Mr. Wong films were actually film noir. I haven't seen them so I don't know. However, they sound similar to the Charlie Chan series and it certainly wasn't film noir.
  11. Re: The Nothere Enemies book Supervillianess edition Formatting only survives cut and pasting if you actually write out your formatting tags in the code document type which you are planning on pasting into. Personally, I've always found it easier to do the cut and paste and then go through and format it prior to posting. However, even that is a bit of a hassle and you don't need to say you are sorry for not doing it. It's all good.
  12. Re: Great russian SF novel... Yeah, good find. Not enough Russian stuff gets translated. They have a great literary tradition, and you know that they must still be doing good work (the Night Watch series proves that), but so little of it jumps the language barrier.
  13. Re: The Nothere Enemies book Supervillianess edition Good additions to Herodom. I particularly liked Weeping Lilly. As a formatting note, the ones where you separate the sections with blank lines are much easier to read. Putting section titles on bold also helps. I'm not trying to bite the hand that is feeding me; I just know that you wouldn't have posted them if you didn't want them to be read.
  14. Re: Psychological Multiform? If the two identities are going to have the different psychological complication I would go with multiform. If they are going to have the same pschological complications then lockout might be better.
  15. Re: Captain Spectre and the Lightning Legion Thanks. Repped.
  16. Re: Captain Spectre and the Lightning Legion Good find. Repped. In the meeting of pulp heroes in issue three, do you know who "Red" is supposed to be? I recognized the others but I couldn't place him. Also, is "Patch" someone I should be recognizing? Kato called him Mr. Sands which seems like a clue, but here again I'm drawing a blank.
  17. Re: Space Currencies The price of things is determined by supply and demand. If space transportation cost are very low, you can come up with a universal pricing scheme for things and just tweak it a bit for local variations in law and taste. So everything on planet Nunoma would cost more or less what it does everywhere else except blasters and Andorian brandy. Blasters being illegal on Nunoma and therefore have contraband pricing, and Andorian brandy being currently all the rage fashionable Nunoman circles and demand is temporarily exceeding local supply. So, if the PCs can get a shipload Andorian brandy to Numoma before other traders flood the market they can make a killing ... assuming that the fad has not already died out. If space transportation cost are expensive, then anything that needs to be brought in from other planets will also be expensive. In this sort of setting, there will be little in the way of universal pricing except for things that are scarce everywhere, and cost will need to be determined on a planet by planet basis. So, if Numoma has little in the way of metal resources, pretty much anything made of metal will be expensive there. However, since necessity is the mother of invention they may of become very good at making stuff that most places is made out of metal out of plastic instead. Consequently, a character's metal battle armor might be worth more as scrap on Numoma than armor if they have plastic armor that is just as good. What I'm getting at is that Star Hero does not give pricing guidelines because how much stuff cost is setting dependent and Hero players tend to make their own settings. If you don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about the economics of your campaign setting, I recommend just figuring out a hand full of items that are really expensive (dilithium crystals, Dune spice, whatever) and a hand full of items that are really cheap (simple manufacture good, food, human life, whatever) and then make everything else cost about the same in your campaign as it does in real life. Just instead of dollars use credits or some other sci-fi currency.
  18. Re: Champions Villains 3: Solo Villains Kickstarter is LIVE Okay, I've reserved a copy.
  19. Re: What "Pulp" have you read lately ? True. Rohmer gets tagged as a racist a lot for his oriental villains, but the good doctor really is the star of the series. Denis Nayland Smith and Dr. Petrie even though they are more out in front in the stories really are just supporting characters.
  20. Re: A new Enemies book: What would you want to see? Not overly surprised that the name Hero Universe is taken. Okay, how about as a working title the Singularity Now Universe (SNU) until someone suggest something better (which will hopefully be in the next few post). This would be a competing the Champions Universe only when someone is standing in the store and picks the SNU book instead of the CU book. If the person already owns the CU book and buys the SNU book too, or picks up the SNU book but wouldn't consider buying the CU book then it's not competing. At that point it is not a competing product but an additional product. As for Hero vs third-party vs fan collaboration, I really think Hero could use some superheroic IP in case Perfect World restricts control of the IP either intentionally of simply by failing to sign off on IP decisions. Maybe that is not a real possibility. Maybe the contract is written in such a way that can't happen. Still, I worry. Also, Champion Online is Hero-ish. What if in 10 years there is an opportunity to make a actual Hero system computer game. Wouldn't it be nice to have a product that someone else didn't own the rights with which to make that dream a reality. However, if it only can happen as third-party or a fan collaboration, I would be game for that too.
  21. Re: Champions Villains, Volume 3: Solo Villains I want this book but I have a hard time justifying much more than $50 for a game book.
  22. Re: A new Enemies book: What would you want to see? I've been thinking that Hero Games might want to create a setting other than the Champions Universe™. Since it no longer owns the IP and and the company that does own the IP now way off in China, Hero might want some superhero IP that it under its own control. Maybe it could be called the Hero Universe. It would be a great opportunity to update the franchise and maybe generate some buzz. Personally, I would be tickled pink to give input on such a project.
