  1. Re: Looking for input or an example on a character build idea what ever you do, don't use takes no stun, with the 1/3 defenses, when you do take stun, you'll take alot of it, and that's bad. If i were going to do it i'd just build it as a powered armor brick/energy projector i think.

Re: movement in theory an action is what you do between one phase and another, so a regular person runs 6" in 6 seconds because they have speed 2, or 1" per second, which is still pretty fast for sustained running but i could see that as being possible. Really you need to average out their movement over a period of time

Then there is no resistance, and you can make anoyne slavishly devoted to you by summoning them at range to the place they are. then just add n-ray vision and some fun megascale

  6. Re: How would you build this power? Cannot be stunned, should not let a summoned anything arrive not stunned and disoriented, otherwise for 10pts (15?) a character can have a huge advantage in their summoned beings (ie summon fighting robots, not summon fighting animals)

Cyclopse is totally a multipower with many slots, probably a regular, an indirect for blowing through walls like they weren't there, an extra KB attack to throw people, a TK with only for grab and throw to throw people with KB, no END EB, AoE Cone EB, just let the imagination run wild

What is thinking on multiple things at the same times? what does this let the character do? how is it different from thinking very fast on one line of thought, then thinking very fast on another? what is the difference between sequential and simultaneous thought?
  9. Re: Aborting Rules: Dodge v. Dive for Cover I think DFC and dodge are different and both very useful. Here is an example, when you fight one big guy who may exceed damage caps and can paste you in a single hit, you want to DFC. No one can take your ability to get out of the way, away from you. but as soon as a mook with autofire shows up, you dont' want to DFC because that autofire mook is going to waste you with a huge amount of called shots. I think dodge is more useful against more people, which is a great deal of combats involve more than one person on a side (at least half in my experiance, but i'm sure other games may vary). I like how DFC works right now, it is the cure all defense against anything, it's harder against bigger AoEs and less effective against explosions (except to lower damage) but it is a general panacea. Also re-ajusting DCV and position and allowing the attacker to retarget a moved target, makes ranged AoEs much better than HtH AoEs because they are going to almost always ignore DFC and paste the target. I just recently learned that DFC works against mental attacks. By moving a single hex you can dodge your brain out of the way. I think it might be silly but it's a totally useful manuver when you are facing a brain rape. The house rule DFC we saw earlier was completely useless against mental attacks. I think that the house ruled version presented above would be fine for some genres like Dark Champions, where people are DFCing behind cover and concealment all the time and bullets fill the air, but in areas where there is no cover, it's not as useful. It also feels less appropriate for most superheroic genres, in my opinion. The one thing I would definately change about that house rule, regardless of genre, is the fact that (other than putting you "in the air," potentially increasing knockback) it doesn't hurt you when you fail. You've gained nothing, but you've lost nothing by trying. I think it should render the character prone (in the air) if they fail, and by aborting they should be allowed to rearrange their CSLs before getting hit, regardless of success or failure. I also think that two attacks should have different visible special effects unless they have IPE. what i mean by this is that if you have a multipower of a 6d6 AoE fireball, and a 9d6 single target fireball, they look different. You won't know which one is AoE until you've been hit by it once, and you won't know which one i'm using as my first attack (since you've never seen either), but once i use both AoE and single target you can tell them apart easily, and once i use a single target, you know the AoE looks different. Why? because otherwise i could make a multipower of 60str 4d6 HKA 1d6 HKA NND vs flash defense sight does body (super eye gouge), and you've never know if i was going to cut your head off, break your nose, or gouge your eyes out until after i've struck. And you should, you should know that my eye gouge looks different from my regular strength or my HKA.

Re: Blowing up your own power armor i've seen physical disadvantage: can explode and then let it explode for free as part of the physical disadvantage, or perhapse spend the points from this extra disad to buy the explosion. It really seems like the fact that it can explode while you are in it, should be a physical lim or a side effect, but i like physical lim more

Re: Haymaker out of combat I think haymakered non-attack powers should be allowed situationally, like a haymaked heal in combat, due to -5 DCV and many characters dont' have CSLs that would apply when they heal. If the penelty is meaningful like taking a full phase and lowering your DCV i'd allow it, i feel the same way about hurrying (or hipshot). I'd allow characters to haymaker if it made sense, i might have a problem with haymakering heavily advantaged attacks like with multiple lvls of pennetrating simply to cheese grate a jail cell,
  13. Re: How to build a power to stop someone from talking Darkness to hearing would work well (useable as attack), or transform. But you could also do something weird like suppress or drain if you feel like a headache
  14. Re: Inherent There's more than one way to skin a Lizard - Drain armor anyway, i have a hard time thinking of things that are absolutly impossible to destroy, drain, suppress, and the like. On the other hand i suppose that i could build Skin a Lizard - Transform Lizard to Lizard without armor?
  15. Re: HERO Combat - I love the options I like the ability to take an active defense, such as blocking, dodging, and rolling with the punch. And Dive For Cover, i've gotten soft with DFC, playing other systems i feel sad when it's other people's turns because i can't take an active roll in defending myself (such as rolling dice) plus i like the ability to attack 2 people right off the bat with sweep

  19. Re: Need help building a spaceship propulsion unit. You may want to have it take longer than 1 post phase 12 to refuel, a few min at least. And my gut reaction wants more END in the end reserve, but that's because it's so cheap, not because it fits in your game :-p
  20. Re: Building a smoke blade if you want +s to work, then it sounds like a change environment. I'd probably build something like this as a flash, simply because it's so easy, but if you wanted to go the hard way a darkness would be the solution, maybe with personal immunity
  21. Re: Needed: Input If you want it to absorb everything, then it's easy, it's full of PLOT powers that is of course powered by PLOTonium. (an infinitly harded entange, with infinite lvls of cannot be escaped by teleportation, and with a transfer, transfer your superpowers to an even more rediculous super trap. for a reasonable trap i'd just have some sort of summon, make the trap a character, which can absorbe, drain, transfer, and the like, then it can have defenses, body, STR etc. give it no STUN or hit locations, make it an automaton, something along these lines
  22. Re: Power Design You could build a succor triggered by hitting a target and doing no STUN. Make it a continuous charger and add continuous advantage to it, with some increased MAX effect and he will gain in power if he hits someone who doesn't take damage. Then add some limitation like this extra AP has to be used on the same person who procced the succor Not sure where i'm going with this but i'm sure a vaild power is in here somewhere
  23. Re: Angel On My Shoulder I agree with above, this one is just like standard hero powers. figure out the effect of an angel on the character's shoulder build the power add special effects and go home happy
  24. Re: How do you hide a saved half? I think that the standard character, espeically one with analyze combat style should be able to tell if a person is holding an action. You can just watch the character and see if they are doing something. If they attack, or use an attack action, the player can note this has occured. Fienting is all good, but that could be a modified version of Set (full phase +1 ocv) Plus we have a game where people routinely hold actions until they are forced to go, so holding actions is a crutial part of our fighting style. On the other hand, i currently play in 2 games, and in both we have the team constantly in mind link, so we can exchange messages and such, maybe held actions don't work as well in other games

Re: How To: Suspended Animation I have an idea about stasis that no one brought up already, and i know you are all past that, but i wanted to throw this out there what about suppress STUN with a continuing charge lasting a few days? when the charge wears off, they wake up? or suppress body if you are hard core, they die, and then get it back when the charge wears off
