  1. Except the power is useless- unless you want to destroy the world. OOTS has been going on a long time, so maybe I'm forgetting the part where Xykon articulates his master plan and his knowledge of the Snarl, but isn't he just trying to attune to them and then destroy them so that he can seize their power? Redcloak, I'm very certain, doesn't give a whit about the gates so much as he sees them as an end to help him create a goblin nation that can stand apart from all powers. Xykon is his means to an end, but I don't think it'll play out the way he wants to.
  2. I dunno, I think if word were to get out about this threat, every force on the planet (good and bad) would drop what they're doing to squash Xykon. He's not the biggest bad out there by a longshot, I gather. Then there'd be an epic battle as people try to take out "targets of opportunity" but the world would be safe.
  3. There is a possibility that I will run a HALO Hero game in the near future. I recall that several years ago our own Thia did a fair bit of prep work and posted it on the Old Boards. I've reached out to him, and he couldn't find it right away but said he would check his other storage locations. In the meantime, I wanted to reach out to the community to see if anyone else had saved those resources, off or online, or was aware of a location where they might be found. I reviewed the threads to the best of my ability but it seems a good chunk of what he did is missing. Thanks.
  4. Don't all Ascendants/gods get their own warren? I'd hazard that's the single ability/power that they have that is unique from other powerful denizens of the setting.
  5. What are the mechanical differences between being ascendant and simply "just" being 500 points in a world where everyone else is 250?
  6. Clean clothes, a portable shower. Something most of us take for granted every day.
  7. Re: Help me grok HERO! I'd lean towards total offense, and then let the quality of their weapons add 1-2 OCV/negate Penalties. I want my PCs to feel deadly without having to have ridiculously high CVs (at least to start), and it still lets the soldiers be quite dangerous by fighting smarter, not by being able to do called shots to the head.
  8. Re: Help me grok HERO! For playing Heroic levels, I'd definitely agree that a front line soldier's OCV would hard cap at 6, and probably expect it to be me around 5. Above 5 and you are looking at elites, top notch veterans, etc.
  9. Re: Quote of the Week from my gaming group... ....they do realize the Titans are ALREADY giant robots, right?
  10. Re: A Question of Balance & Lethality I like the name Combat Luck, and I would dislike the names "toughness" or "resilience" for the effect.
  11. Re: Help me grok HERO! Well, I assume a biokineticist is somewhat similar to a telekineticist.
  12. Re: Dr. Who Questions Here's a question (which has prevented me from getting into the show): What is the Doctor such a jerk? Also, where does he get off judging others who mess with time when he seems to play drunken billiards with it?
  13. Re: Help me grok HERO! Well, what does he want to do with that power?
  14. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested Though I call uncool on the use of the word "retarded" in that context.
  15. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested Fair point.
  16. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested ....a problem, IF you agree that there needs to be some sort of practical limit to how much PCs carry?
  17. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested Yes, but (and keep in mind I could be misremembering the rules right now, I don't have the books on hand at the moment so please correct me if I'm wrong), but the "stash" (forget the term, perhaps that is the pool itself) is limitless. You can add things to it infinitely as you find them, as long as you can find a way to store them/GM allows it etc. The artificial limit comes in what the character can carry on his or her person (as opposed to using Encumbrance). Which is the point, and returns to my first point above. However, if I messed the rules up, that's entirely the point.
  18. Re: 6E - Low Fantasy Hero - Game Balance Issues - Advice Requested ... how does that happen? Because there doesn't really have to be a limit on what is in the stash, only what the character actively has on him/her. Further, you could build the horse as adding to the character's pool (since he can keep stuff with him, but on the horse). Further- yes, at a certain point it's ridiculous that the character thinks he can keep piling things on.
  19. Re: House rules: speed, height advantage, gang up bonus, facing, dodging? There is.
  20. Re: How do you Hero GMs prepare for new campaigns? Ok, now I think I understand. I wasn't reading closely enough. He remembers that tomorrow he will arrive in Vienna via a train from Brandenburg, so he assumes that he is waking up in Brandenburg. He doesn't experience time backwards, constantly (that would be useless- he'd hear conversations backwards, he'd be unable to meaningfully interact with anything, etc). He jumps back in time, but each day experiences normally (that is, cause precedes effect, etc.- time moves forward), but he happens to know (remember) what WILL happen after the day is over. Quiaff?
  21. Re: How do you Hero GMs prepare for new campaigns? I'm going to have to reread that a few times.
  22. Re: What is at the Ends of the Earth? Very nice. Only thing I'd suggest is monsters living in the ice bands...
  23. Re: Creepy Pics. My wife, when I asked her if she had heard about these snakes. "Yeah, I just hope no one shows the Japanese." I'm shocked that her mind went there, because mine most certainly did NOT!
