  1. Or more damage for "Martial Arts" as a group. Or more damage. +2d6 HTH attack, for example. Or just Skill Levels that can be used as extra damage.
  2. Nope. Haven't read any fan fiction about it. When that pony show was new, my kids were young enough to be the target audience. At one point, we saw a link to join a fanclub. They were excited about it, but I'm not stupid: I looked into pony Fandom when they weren't around. I haven't been that deeply disturbed since I wondered what a "furry" was. Thanks, but no. I meant pony as in every kid dreams of a pony; not as in "diaper-wearing (for pleasure) thirty-something year old men in need of special help dream of anthropomorphised cartoon ponies doing..... Things... Sorry; not familiar with that one...
  3. "The Exterminators." If I may: And in "campaign use:" I won't swear I know it, but I _think_ that's the one you're thinking of.
  4. Short on time, but I've been putting up things I find that make super-cheap maps as I find them. When I've got more time, I'll see about getting links to the pics, etc.
  5. Scott, let me take just a moment to interrupt this thread to say: You, Sir, are extremely talented. digital painting be _damned_, you've got the good stuff: you can draw, and do so extremely well!
  6. Aim for the hex next to him. Now he's down to dive for cover.
  7. As GB(i) points out above, it really depends on the group. For me, it depends on the complexity the group is looking for-- fast and loose, or involved?-- and the comfort level of the players with the system, and even wether or not they are into tactics (not everyone is. Including the youth group, I've got one group who is into tactics and two others who think that a fast, simple combat is fun enough and want to get on with the adventure-- sights to see, people to meet, etc). I could go on and on, but that really sums it up: the more into tactics, the more into "effectiveness" and "build-scultping," the less common those things become. I've got a couple of serious tacticians that look at the odd defenses as _investments_ more than something significant: "Oh, and hard-shelled earmuffs, too. I know: it's only three points of flash defense, but make sure you know that it's hard shelled." You know: SFX as "investment" for all those who have NND that list hard shelled this-or-that as a complete defense. The others? I just mentioned this elsewhere on the board (I think just last night), but I've had "Presence Defense, EGO Defense, and CON (stunning) Defense as actual characteristics for years. I think there's just way, way, _way_ to much variation in circumstance to find an effective ranking system. (this was always my pet peeve against "No _NORMAL_ Defense" as a name: what's "normal?" ) Certainly we could likely do a survey of what is more and less common in individual _groups_, but I expect that would vary by campaign significantly, even within the same group.
  8. If I missed this being asked or answered, forgive me; I'm in the middle of a lot right now. Are the duplicates identical copies of the primary character (sans Duplication, of course)? Frankly, if all the duplicates are identical to the primary character, I'd likely just stick a custom advantage on the Duplication power that lets any given duplicate be the primary character, and thus the holder of the duplication. I say that because from what I understand, unless you really _are_ pulling a castle maneuver and you each end up displaced from where you started, that's the final in-game effect of this power: someone else now has Duplication (again, assuming that all duplicates are the same as the primary). So the way I would approach this: Duplication: Usable by others, Usable by Duplicates Only; Only one person can use it at a time. There. Move the Duplication power to the guy you want to hold it, and any personality change, etc-- it's all just SFX. He's now the Primary, and the Primary is now him. Now if the Duplicates are _not_ the same, well I'm still pretty sure a cleaner build can be had than the hundred-and-six (or whatever the OP stated it was) T-Port build he started with.
  9. Got a bit of word tonight: The Horror HERO book is out of my hands and into Jason's. He's also willing to update the Western HERO scan to a version with covers: I just have to find the time (and a better electronical box) to put it together. Hopefully after this weekend-- I'm going to run to my brother's place and finish it up. Not sure when Horror HERO is going up, but keep an eye out if you don't own the book or just want a highly-portable copy. For what it's worth, I thought Western was more generally useful (and better put-together), but if you've not read Horror, it's a pretty solid book with some interesting ideas (once you get past the E.G. Marshall-esque "hosted by a character" presentation), and if you're one of the few people who aren't comfortable with the idea of "custom characteristics" as a flavor device, well this book gives official endorsement of the idea, and does everything but _demand_ you add SAN(ity) to your character sheets straight away. There. Now you've got permission, and have had it since before your kids were born. Go play! (for what it's worth, Mental Defense, Presence Defense, and STUN Defense (Base Zero) have been on my character sheets for _years_, but you have to do what's right for you and your group )
  10. All right! Looks like we _might_ get the Western HERO with covers in the store after this weekend. No definate answer yet. Also looks like we'll be getting a Horror HERO, but no official word on that, either. No; it's not my work (good and bad: it's a decent job, and now I don't have to chop up the books I bought for this project, but I think with time I might have turned in a more archive grade, print-ready copy. (and the spine). Again, no official word yet; Jason's a busy guy, and I don't hear back immediately on things. Keep your fingers crossed!
  11. Totally understand, and I think it's a great idea. I'm just a bit nutty about a full set, so to speak. Hoping to order a hardback after resolving an air conditioner / collapsed ceiling situation, but Jolhros is in line right after that. Duke
  12. Any chance of an all-in-one as an option? You know: in case I need another hardback?
  13. See if Mark Williams had any survivors who could okay Gargoyle? (and as long as I'm dreaming, I'd like a pony....)
  14. Gentlemen, I believe he has a best seller on his hands....
  15. Here's a thought-- (Going to admit it up front: _not_ a Star Wars fan. Not even a little bit. I love me some space opera, but I tend to point at Star Wars as the perfect example of "not this.") Suppose they've hit the limit? Suppose there is no more science left to science? That they have taken observation and manipulation as far as it is possible to go with _science_, which is why this weird mysticism keeps cropping up? Perhaps they've gone as far as it's possible to go without straight-up magic?
  16. So.... Yabba, Yak, and animals that begin with "Yellow....." Yep. That's a hard spot, all right.
  17. Wait-- Does this mean you've secured cooperation from Heroic to do the original team? Because-- well that'd be _astounding_! Or did they just not get Rose with all the others?
  18. They certainly should, seeing as how it doesn't seem to take an entire day to get _anywhere_....
  19. Perhaps you could consider "M. I. G. H. T. I. E?"
  20. Agreed; that _is_ a nice sheet! 😳
  21. Ditto on both counts. I mean, you've hit the whole point of gaming anyway: you have found something that gives you the right "feel." I totally support that. It's the reason I still use 2e, and though I dabble now and again in 4e, I never go further. It's the reason I don't use the Dark Champions stuff even when I'm doing 4e: nothing else has the "feel" I get from 2e. Above all else, you and your players have to be having a good time, or it's all moot.
