  1. Re: Anyone actually playing anything? See my WindyCon35 writeup, remember this is a SCIFI convention not a gaming convention: http://www.herogames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=69026 We used the StarHero Alien Wars for BOTH scenarios. The players seemed to like it.
  2. Re: Solar HERO: R.I.P. Phoenix We will have to wait and see, some probes last longer than others. I hope NASA will be listening for the "beep".

    Dark WHAT'S?!?

Re: Dark WHAT'S?!? Dark matter, dark energy, dark whatever... I am very skeptical about a lot of these. The math suggests they exist. But the experimental evidence for many of these is NIL. If you look at transistors the description used for describing them is electrons and holes. It makes the math work wonderfully, and transistors work as predicted, but what is really going on is much messier. Good example of when the math works but reality is not quite bit messier. But until better experiments or better math comes along we will have Dark whatevers...
  4. Re: Space --- ROCKETS! Hundreds of V-2's were captured after WW2. Many were shipped to White Sands and used for experiments (the photo is a modified V2). The plans on the wiki page are the tip of the iceberg, plans for a New York City rocket, a "bomber" that actually flies in space, and dirty bombs were on the Nazi drawing boards as WW2 ended. The V-2 (called the A4 by the Germans) is a perfect example why all free nations had to fear the Nazis, they had very advanced technology. In my Pulp Games the Nazis are superscientists and always have fun deadly gadgets.
  5. Re: Dark Champions hero fragility My two cents from being a Dark Champions player: 1) never give the bad guys a fair fight; always ambush or get the drop on them 2) do your homework; investigate and scout your battle field if possible then do your attack with a plan, make sure your leader has assigned roles to all the players 3) ALWAYS have an escape plan; have transport ready to get you out after the fight or ready to evac if things go bad 4) remember bad guys are not stupid, find the lookouts and silence them 5) PRE attacks are your FRIEND 6) combat luck, light body armor are required for survival; get a combat skill level in your weapon, make sure you have good weapons/scopes (combat skill level bonus and PSL) 7) use non-combat skills before the combat; use contacts to find out the plans of the buildings, when do the police patrol the area, use computer skills to about the bad guys, lock picking is great to break in and setup an ambush, bugging to learn where and when the bad guys are doing the big deal, .......... I think you get the idea.
  6. Say my superteam-mates are beating up the big bad guy (hand to hand, but in hexes next to bad guy) and my character hits the hex with big bad guy with an area of effect one hex. It will effect the bad guy but does it get my superteam-mates in the hexes next to bad guy but are in hand to hand attacks with him? How does the advantage accurate change/modify this? Thanks in advance Steve!
  7. Re: Pulping the Renaissance I am sorry I posted here. I like to say I am sorry to all those on this thread for my post and the post has been removed.
  8. Re: New Wallpapers!: Foxbat, Mind Slayer, Ankylosaur Very cool wallpapers. Not to be a spoilsport I liked the 5ER art better for some of them. But, I am sure over time I will like the new "looks" better.:hush:
  9. Re: Random Spaceship Generator Thanks for Hex option. Rep to you!
  10. Re: Random Spaceship Generator I like, but I am a perfectionist.... Could you do the graphical in hexes instead of boxes???
  11. Re: COMING ATTRACTIONS -- A Pulp Stuff Website Added to my favorites!
  12. Re: New pulp supers mini game I saw them, and was not super impressed with them. Good for super's; not PULP mini's (except a couple of mini's you could use as pulp minis). Good workmanship on them, cast in UK, the sculptor is from Poland. The minis are just not my cup of tea.
  13. Just saw the film. Much pulpy goodness, a full day's supply of fiber. The movie takes place in 1946 but the movie still has a very pulpy feel to it. Great movie (IMHO). I enjoyed the chases (several good ones) and some great gunfights. The end battle was well done. A very fun movie and for PulpHero GM's out there, a great source of inspiration, and possible plots.
  14. Re: Banned Supplement For Sale I am in a game where the GM used "Wings" module. It was a total railroad. As for the flow of play it was terrible. But we got through it, and I actually had a little bit of fun with it. Would I NOT recommend it for others to play. The proposed alternate history it has is very, very, very, unlikely (did I mention VERY unlikely???). You could easily find the module offensive, especially if you were or had a relative who was a victim of the Nazi's.

    dacoit?

Re: dacoit? –noun (in India and Burma) a member of a class of criminals who engage in organized robbery and murder. Also, dakoit. [Origin: 1800–10; < Hindi ḍakait] according to dictionary.com
  16. Re: Quik-Clot how to model? Help please Sean: thanks for your idea I like it a lot, it is closer to the "feel" I wanted. >>coagulant gauze might be built as a 1 pip Body heal only to stop bleeding from a single wound (-2), which makes it nice and cheap. Armitage: Thanks for your suggestion, shamefully I own a copy of Alien Wars and never thought of looking at it.
  17. Re: Quik-Clot how to model? Help please Thanks guys.
  18. Quik-Clot is a hemostatic agent (HA) developed by the Z-Medica Corporation; released in 2003. It has been used to save hundreds of lives. Recently, Z-Medica released QuikClot® Combat Gauze brand, the first choice HA per the joint Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care. The best way to describe this product is a bandage with special biochemical compounds that cause blood to clot very, very quickly. How do I model this in Hero Game System Terms? I want to be able to quickly stop bleeding on a character, so no bleeding rolls or further loss of BODY occurs. 1) As a +4 to paramedics, focus, 1 charge, only to stop bleeding 2) Transform Major 2 dice, focus, 1 charge, only to stop bleeding 3) Some other way that I did not think of?
  19. Re: Cool Guns for your Games >>the Kriss is also really expensive. =) Looks weird, but sounds great. >> What carbine do you own? Kriss is pricey BUT worth it IMHO. My Thompson is classified as a carbine. Take a look at other brands of Carbines.
  20. Re: Cool Guns for your Games I had the pleasure of firing a prototype KRIS submachine gun (semi-auto) at open range day at GAT guns in Feburary. IT was a NICE weapon. I own a reproduction Thompson SubMachine Gun (semi-auto NOT an original automatic). The felt recoil was FAR less on KRISS and they both used .45ACP (same bullet used in the Colt .45 semiauto and in 1911). The KRISS recoil damping system really works, muzzle climb was very low (it was higher on the Thompson). This is really amazing considering the KRISS loaded was about 8lb and the Thompson loaded is about 13lb (with 50round drum magazine). Great weapon, but I already own a .45ACP carbine. If I did not I would purchase the KRISS.
  21. Re: Book Recommendation It will be on my XMAS wish list.
  22. Re: Hero Games materials for sale Lead miniatures? Which ones?
  23. Re: Almost how it might go down in a DC Game Rumor mill on some web sites is that the Mossad had a hand in planning. Daring and effective. A good example of how good scouting and risk taking can lead to a GREAT operation. Tip of my hat to the brave Columbians who pulled this one off.
  24. Re: Cop-enforced gladiatorial games for gangs? A urban legend in Chicago is that hookers would be rounded up. Then at 4am taken to an alley off of Mag Mile that has a HUGE rat population. The "girls of the night" would then be forced to walk among the rats out for their evening meal. The story says that it reduced the amount of girls walking the streets with no paper work. The above is an Chicago urban legend mind you........
  25. Re: GMs how did you bring the PCs together? Or course the group could be recruited by a mystery benefactor and brought together and only MUCH later does the group find out how he/she is.... and why the need to fight the forces of darkness in secret.... I have used this in PulpHero.
