Tis the season for pie pumpkins.  Not the honkin' big ones for jack o' lanterns, they're grown to be big.  Pie pumpkins are fairly small, with more flavor.  I've got one that I still need to break down, clean, and roast...been lazy.  Stores don't see these for very long;  they're gone probably before even Halloween.

I like that.  Especially with a big honkin' limitation because it's only useful in such narrow situations.  That makes a mild advantage VERY cheap.

I was rebuilding a notional character...HTH fighter, with teleport for his movement...using some expansions I'm playing with.

    What I finally noticed?

BINGO!  Throw in a custom limitation to tailor it to falling only, and you're good.  Not complicated.  No distortion of the rules, just a pretty normal need to define a situational limitation.  It's easy to apply, unlike things like "flight only to slow down from falling" that suggest the fall takes far longer...you stop on a dime.  If you don't want there to be a short *blink* to say you teleport?  Fine, that's SFX.

And how of of those Pathfinder books is fluff?  Yes, I count all prestige classes, all races, all variant classes...as fluff.  How many books do you NEED to read, to play?  How many of those are campaign books, or class books, or whatnot?

Yes, to a point, they're 'rules' books because both Pathfinder and D&D have almost no rules, in a systemic sense.  What they have is a set of exceptions and special cases.  It's the worst possible way to build rules, but yeah, it's what lets gaming companies sell a zillion more exceptions.

I'm actually pretty sure most people are saying much the same thing.

All right, let's actually bring some numbers into this.
KA STUN, 4d6, using the 6E STUN mult (a d3)
Many STUN totals are impossible, so I skipped them.  These are rounded to the nearest percent.

58+ is down below 0.5%.  I don't care at that point.  It simply won't happen enough to be meaningful, so trying to say one near-impossibility is more likely than another is splitting a carbon nanotube.

Note that even 51 STUN is basically a TIE.  54 STUN, the KA has a small advantage...but not much.  You're getting down to the 1 chance in 30-ish that you'll get 57+.  Flip side?  70% of the time you won't reach 36 STUN, which basically means, you do nothing in the scenario we're discussing.

So, yes.  Hugh's right.  Chasing that 60+ STUN with a KA is like hoping a monster is gonna miss his save in D&D...when he saves on a 2.

Now, yeah, in 5E?  KAs are gross.  They're sick.  They're hideously overpowered.

So...80 STUN?  Still 6%?  And that's higher than a normal attack can possibly do.  And 1 time in 6, we're well over 60, which quite possibly will stun the target?  MUCH!!!! too high...particularly as this also requires major additional expense, to avoid taking an uncomfortable amount of BODY.

Congratulations to Adam Wainwright for getting #200.  Wasn't sure it would happen.

And it's been pointed out...he might be the LAST pitcher to get *200*.  300?  Almost certainly never again.  Even 250...the only active pitcher with 250 is Verlander.  Greinke has 224, but he's 39, his ERA this year is over 5, and his WHIP is over 1.3.  Next would be Scherzer at 214, and 38.  He'd need 3 more pretty good years.  Kershaw has 209, and is a bit younger at 35, but his back is a big concern.

As far as 200?  Gerrit Cole has the best shot.  He's got 143, he's only 32, and he's on a team that will spend money to win.  Bumgarner has 134 wins, he's 33...but he was released by the D'backs after a *terrible* start back in April...and no one picked him up.  No one else with 100+ wins is under 35.

Looking at this season?  Strider's pitching tonight, he's got 17 wins.  Steele has 16 for the Cubs.  3 pitchers have 15;  4 have 14;  and 4 have 13.  15 wins now, is like 20 was maybe 15 years ago.

Chipotle powder is one of my absolute favorites.  It's not generally that hot, but the flavor is rich from the smoking.  It adds a dimension that plain chiles or powders don't have.  Salt and chipotle powder on eggs?  All you need.

Oh, and to touch on a side aspect...chili powder is VERY much distinct from chile powder, in the US anyway.  "Chile" is the term for the peppers...everything from bell pepper to Carolina Reapers.  The family also includes the peppers used in cayenne and paprika.  "Chili" is...let's call it a style, of spicy food, particularly stewed dishes.  Chili powder has ground chiles...but also oregano, cumin, and garlic powder.

One way to look at it is to ask if it's ever going to be a plot point. A good acid test for whether something is going to be a plot point in an adventure is whether it will ever come under time pressure. If you envision a scenario where a priest PC has to consecrate some bodies before the necromancer villain can get to them, then it may need a little mechanical definition. Which doesn't have to involve a power write up. It could just be noting down how much time the ritual takes. I'd leave the mechanics on the necromancy spells and have the rest be settings factors, as others have suggested above.

The 6th edition book says that you can use XDM to create gates and referrers you to the section on teleport for the details.   The rules for creating gates state you need both the area of effect and extra mass for it to work.  That seems to indicate you need both for this as well.  Also, UAA normally only affects 100 kg and requires an advantage to increase that, but if the power has its own rules of increasing mass (which XDM does) to use those.

That's the key phrase here, I think, because it describes the situation perfectly.  Especially because so many classes of complication should generally be very rare;  I'm thinking primarily about Dependence, Susceptibility, and Vulnerability.  Accidental Change requires multiple forms, so that's often not available.

OK, so, let's see if I have the order down.
Spell's cast.  The bounding field springs up.  We can say it's not impermeable *yet*...that's the process that takes a bit of time.  During that time, someone may attempt to flee through the field, to avoid being trapped.  (We won't get into the logic of whether someone would/should even consider trying it...when they have NO CLUE what the field is doing.)  Do note that an acre...not terribly much area, if you're tossing around terms like "city" still requires a radius 36 meter circle.  Dodging does not cut it.

    LoneWolf's point about the mass...yeah.
XDM, Single Dimension.  UAA, AoE radius, 36 meters (for 1 acre), Personal Immunity.  That's only 75 points.

    But the mass????

Mass adders are THE KILLER for that kind of Teleport or XDM.  A bit of research gives 200 pounds per square foot for the weight of a house.  So...1500 square feet, that's 30,000 pounds.  Call it AoE Radius 20 meters.  Base mass for teleport or XDM is 100 or 200 kilos, I forget...call it 200, it won't matter.  I need 6 doublings.  That's 30 points of adder tossed onto the XDM.  20 base -> 50 base.  175 active.

For one house, assuming a modern house.  If you're set medieval, it'd be lower per house, but there will likely be more houses per acre.  The total mass will be HUGE in any case.  And note that we haven't even *talked* about the mass of the ground *under* the buildings.  1000 cubic meters of dirt...call it average density of about 3, which should be reasonable.  Each cubic meter weighs 3 TONS.  Also note that I'm being EXTREMELY!!! generous...because AoE Radius is a sphere.  THAT would mean it'd be taking along the full hemisphere underneath....or about 70,000 cubic meters.

Note to Duke:  AoE hexes, which is Any Area in 6E, is much, much more expensive.  It's +1/4 for 2, 2 meter hexes.  Double the number of hexes for +1/4.  But AoE radius squares the number of hexes.  AoE Radius, 20 meters, means 320 square meters.  That's 80 units for Any Area, so it's another +1/2.

Forget how it does it...seriously.  What do you need?
--for Duke's thought of dispelling or countering?  Active point total.  TOO HIGH for ANY single caster to counter.
--If it can be escaped, then...where's the center point, what's the radius, and how long will it take before the field becomes impassable?

This feels much like an epic spell from 3.5 D&D.  Some of which did STUPIDLY powerful stuff if anyone...like...paid attention to what was going on.  I get...epic spell and all.  Some things easy to describe, are *tremendously* hard to DO.  That can be fine...but realize...it becomes narrative, not qualitative.  And narrative for an NPC means Plot Device.

With respect, you're treating very specific conditions as though they were universal. What if you switch Superman in your scenario with Captain Marvel/Shazam? Strong and tough as Superman, no vulnerability to magic, in fact he is magic. How about Captain Atom? Or the Hulk? Or Vision, either max-density or intangible? Or for that matter, Captain America with his shield?

Superman doesn't kill, ever. Neither does Batman. Captain America, or Captain Atom, or Green Lantern John Stewart, were soldiers. They'll kill if they have to, and have. And do I really need to explain Wolverine, or the Punisher, or John Constantine? Code Against Killing is not automatic for every superhero, or every Champion.

Without comparable Character Point totals, comparable Active Point and Damage Class caps, and using the same HERO rule options, a meaningful comparison isn't possible.
