  1. As a quick refrence for base point costs, and to give to new players to study the rules in a concise manner.
  2. Oh well yeah. It really reminds me of 4th edition. They left out a lot of the new adders, as well as the more complex powers (noteably Damage Reduction), advantages and limitations. I wish that Fred was as concise in it's discriptions as SK is. None of the combat skills were in it. Like I said it's very 4th edition. There is a lack of flexabilty do some of the edits but I think that that was expected and didn't detract from it for me. I think it will be good to get new players in to it. You read this 117 pages (really less than half of that needed to play) and come to the game that I use all of the rules for. For groups of newbies where no one has ever played this will be WORLDS less intimidating.
  3. Oh man I dislike Game Empire a lot. I'm glad I found the Game Castle in Orange County....right down the street from my school. That place Kicks ass...Any one in Orange County, its on the corner of State College and Champman, on the row of stores including Round Table pizza.
  4. Nah I was just being Hyperbolic. I've known the guy since I was 2!!! The least I could do is keep a few promises.
  5. I like Jr.. Haven't you ever know a big guy named Jr. or the like. It's the apparent Irony of the name that makes it work. Just like Fred doesn't actually mean Fifth Revised EDition. It was just a Joke made by Steve Long that we all latched on to.
  6. Well I bought it in a stor in Fullerton Orange County. I take the Train up here every Mon, Wed and Friday for school... No my friends also the primary GM so I like to keep my promises to him. Home is a long way away. So it'll have to wait till my train ride down tonight.
  7. They are doing a Revised edition????? Since when?
  8. 2 of them in fact, though one will become my friend's once he pays me back. Still havn't read through it though...I'm at school still.
  9. Except we are talking about unluck fields.
  10. So really just comes down to what floats your boat. I'd shy away from "Buying" unluck simply because it's changing a convention I don't think needs to be changed to accomplish the deed. I really like the Change enviroment. This way no extra limitations saying that once you leave the Transform field the unluck goes away (though that could be the condition for undoing the Transform...). And it's cheaper no doubt.
  11. Except that unluck is a disad isn't it. You can't really buy it, it gives you points to spend. Now a more rules friendly version may be an area effect transform that gives everything in the area 5d6 unluck.... Though in your sandbox the earlier maybe easier and less of a headache.
  12. I'm not sure you'll need the real cost/5 with the VPP. I'd say by the VPP, and limit it to spells that the wizard has (1pt)Knowledge skills for.
  13. THat is true. Or you can just say that the SFX of the flash wereing off is the target pulling it away. You could even give the Flash some type of continuos advantage only when the target doesn't activly try to remove it.
  14. "Spidermsn doesn't have a Flash. He has an Entangle that stops the Sight Group." Well that's one way of looking at it (he does have that entangle), but if all it does is get in your eyes I'm hard pressed to see that as an entangle. This is in regards to the power that follows the occassional "Here's web in your eye" comment from spidey, it doesn't actually restrict the targets movement. You could call it an EXTREMELY limited entangle, but....
  15. First rule of conversion: Write up settings not systems. In Games where aspects like Humanity, virtue, willpower and Sanity are "hardwired", you may need to rethink what these things actually do. I've no experience W/Exalted so I can't be of any help there. However Sanity has been mentioned in the Other Genre forums, and done quite well. We play L5R, in hero. It works great, we get all the feel of the source material wrapped in a packaging we like. Honor and Glory are Role playing concepts and Taint is a Long drawn out Transform.
  16. The Aprropriate Dispell, prestitant.
  17. It's sort of like D&D characters (minus the lame magic system). Mages are just powerful, and should be. At 1-2 eps a game they're still spending lots of points on Spells and appropriate skills. Just like fighters do on Levels and skills and talents. I'll never go back for Hero games that rely heavily on magic, from Starwars to Steampunk to straight up Fantasy.
  18. We use it. We've also used real cost/5. It's awesome for games where magic is common and those that wield are powerful. I've been suprise how much those characters still don't outshine straight out fighters.
  19. A cloud of Tear gas could be Darkness W/a NND linked to it. Spider-man can flash you W/his webs and your gogles would be useless in responce.
  20. 50-60 active points? Call it a mind control than. Only to command the target to sleep. I Guess you could fanangle it as a mental illusion into it as well.
  21. My Lightsaber Combat rules Lightsaber; Hand killing Attack (Energy): 1.5d6 ALVD (Combat Luck, +1 1/2), Does Body (+1), Reduced end (0end, +1/2) (100 Active points), OAF (-1), Independant (-2), Has no effect on energy shielding (-1/2), No Knockback (-1/2), -1 stunX (-1/2), No Strength to damage (-1/2), Str min (6, -1/2), real weapon (-1/4)....Real points: 17 I'm using hit location as well. Combat luck will cost 1pt for 1pip of resistant Def (ED or PD) and is only available to PCs and important NPCs. Martial Arts DC's do add, in my campaign, to the lightsaber's damage. Since I don't want Jedi cruising around W/12-16d6 martial strikes I've created a special 6pt DC just for lightsabers, but 2 regular 4pt martial arts DCs will also add. As a rule any (non-lightsaber) weapon that successfully blocks the lightsaber will take the lightsaber's base damage.
  22. This would be like most fantasy games at low levels, or a vampire hunter type game. All of these types of stories are based on regular people fighting frigheningly powerful creatures. Now your just calling them Super Villians instead of Werewolf or lich. Sounds like fun to me.
